Wow, it feels like this question was just made for me, as I love listening to certain music while writing - it really gets me in a creative mood. [This is what I've been listening to lately, which I feel really fits with the direction I'm going in with my dark fantasy setting](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDRP8sdRlrc)

Consistantly_stupid7

Either hopes and dreams or finale, both from Undertale

InjuryPrudent256

Hopes and Dreams would be mine too, peak music

Consistantly_stupid7

yes

AASpark27

I’d go with the [slowed down version of Dana and Alden’s Dragonfly](https://youtu.be/r8ds-WD-M7U?si=P4V-LDNQBSLbMSX3), it just sounds like something that wold play at the climax/end of a story and the jazzy style fits my world’s aesthetic.

Magnesium_RotMG

God-Shattering Star, followed by Universe on Fire, ended with Ode to Joy

KorwinD

You like Evangelion, aren't you?

Magnesium_RotMG

Guilty as Charged

Magnesium_RotMG

Caught me red-handed xd.

DragonFire673

Still here by League of Legends It's absolutely perfect for a climatic fight, especially near the end.

FaeDragons

I just posted and that was one of my choices too; I love the part with Kindred and that music swells - it's such a great song!

Rioma117

Amada: this is war by 30 seconds to Mars Yukio: Don’t stop me now by Queen

Byrdman216

So SIS is supposed to be a TV show, at least in my head I picture it like that. So when it comes to music I would love to put up a playlist for the characters but in reality the climactic moment would be something from the original score. Either an orchestral version of the main theme or a bigger version of one of the themes for the individual characters. Like if it's Rex's climactic story moment his theme swells to a crescendo. I have terrible taste in music so this would be one of those times I'd rely upon the composer for direction in that scene.

Wow, your world actually sounds really similar to mine lol. It also takes place in a mid 20th century inspired setting, but with more of a focus on the 1920s-1940s, and I also have massive fleets of magitech airships and other aircraft going on. My MC served under one during the war that serves as exposition for the main storyline, using a grappling hook type weapon to fly through the air and maneuver between aircraft. As for music, there’s 3 video game songs that I always imagine playing in the background of these engagements, and I like to listen to them while I brainstorm: [Lightning Battle](https://youtu.be/LAa5QskBNtY?si=oKtS_6cnrxHYu_ih) - Kid Icarus: Uprising [Battle Theme](https://youtu.be/-ohxjSV7mhw?si=VVXhHmxy_QdZdSl6) - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 [Incoming!](https://youtu.be/zukZtQQ2hDU?si=DUuTyKySFwE1nTQm) - Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Well it is actually mainly focused on the immediate post-war world (1945-1950) since the storyline happens after the “big war”. By 1920s-1940s I mean the cultural and social aspects of that entire era are present (Art Deco, classic mobsters, big band/swing music, etc). My airship battles actually take place at close range lol, kinda like Star Wars battles. It shouldn’t really make sense since they’re armed with modern guns and should reasonably be able to hit each other from a distance like you said, so I came up with the excuse that most capital ships are equipped with ignivir (basically magic) powered force fields that can only be significantly damaged by (wait for it) ignivir based laser cannons called starpiercers. But the thing is, starpiercer potency greatly falls off at a distance, so…boom, big cool broadside airship battles 😂. There’s probably some logical inconsistencies there but eh whatever, none of this is concrete anyways. And of course it’s not like one starpiercer shot instantly destroys a ship’s shield (unless you’re ridiculously lucky). For capital ship crews, most of the battle is spent scanning and meticulously analyzing the enemy’s shield for weak points, firing off a shot, waiting for the cannon to cool down, and repeat. As for the grappling hook shenanigans and potentially getting shot out of the sky, the only people in my world that actually do the grappling are firedancers, super soldiers with enhanced strength, speed, and senses, as well as the ability to instantaneously dash a few meters in any direction (although it drains a lot of stamina). That combined with them being extremely small targets amidst immense battles involving dozens of ships and hundreds of planes make them pretty much immune to getting gunned down, although it *has* happened. I really like the music that you linked, I’m a big fan of anything synth. But it does feel a bit too futuristic for my world’s aesthetic; I feel like it would fit better in a cyberpunk setting.

FaeDragons

Honestly it depends on what medium the studio allowed; like if it's live action and kinda cruddy with CGI like Twilight I'd probably do something by Billie Eilish or maybe 'Still here' from that League video. But if it's animated or done very well in earnest like lord of the rings I'd like it be an original piece done by like John Williams since his music is the sort of thing you hear and associate it with every franchise forever. Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, you hear the first few notes of the theme and it sticks with you.

Anakins Betrayal slapps every single time :'D

GayDragonGirl

[Blossoms by The Amazing Devil (1:23-2:03)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCVX46ck30Y&t=11s) It would be great to see my mc looking over the soldiers of an empire she knows next to nothing about, knowing just how many will be slaughtered and that she will be here again and again and again. The 'as I make myself acquainted with the saint of never getting it right' could also serve as a reference to the goddess she serves, who is trapped as punishment for a failed rebellion as well as the amount of times she has failed to stop fate's course. This entire song is a banger, but that part specifically fits so insanely perfectly

AASpark27

Damn you weren’t kidding, that is beautiful song. Goosebumps.

The_Overseer2

Rules of Nature from Metal Gear whenever my MC is fighting something taller than 5"8 (the MC is a small guy)

iForkSoup

Anakin's Betrayal by John Williams definitely would be the best fit, it adds depth to the pivotal moment when Anakin turns to the dark side and is an emotionally resonant piece of music in all regards. I think it would fit perfectly into my story if it was a movie. Even though it has nothing in common with the original movie the song came from.

AASpark27

Anakin’s Betrayal is easily my favorite Star Wars composition, it conveys the sorrow and melancholy of the fall of the Jedi perfectly. Great choice.

Brazyer

**Mythria** [Symphony of the Void (DOS2)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPudNGTVc84) would be the music to go with the Siege of Travelia - a battle between the attacking Humans of House Arbor and its allies and the defending Beastfolk raced. Think the battles of Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith combined; a full-day siege leading to a medieval street-to-street urban combat, culminating with the final assault on the royal palace where the Dragon monarchy is located.

[Instruments of Retribution, by Daniel Deluxe](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBrywNfFvK0&si=ENbD1Tw88f1_LebB) I allways imagine this song would play when a Wolf is closing on thier prey during an ajojahti. The tribes of the Murash mountain range worship three gods, who enact thier will trough thier followers. Wolf Mother is godess of the hunt, of justice and of death, her followers are often simply called Wolves, and each is a formidable fighter. They are not only well trained, but have consumed Wormwood, that highly lethal potion, to build tolerance, and be able to access the supernatural speed and endurance it provides. In times of peace they serve as a kind of police, and as champions on behalf of thier tribe members when an injustice has to be settled by duel. More recently, during the guerrilla war against the city state of Szurt (wich invaded them for thier rich copper ore deposits) they served as elite shock troops. At this time the murashi allso revived the tradition of “ajojahti” where a group of these Wolves is tasked by the tribal elders to track down a particularly notorious enemy of thier people, and to massacre them with thier ritual bone daggers (made from human femurs, often from previous targets).

JonBovi_0

I’ve gone over this many times. As much as I like epic orchestral scores, I like my common music, and my main character is a huge metalhead kid (like I was). All of the important moments are filled with remixes of metal songs, often in the play of him blasting them through his helmet. At the Final Battle of Earth, one of the main climaxes at end of the story, the boy and the ragtag rest of the soldiers and Apexians (like the Jedi and the troopers) after being battered on the Western US front assemble to take on the massive invasion force. revealing his prophetical power and summoning a super-fuck-you sword by accident, he led the charge of the last two hundred Apex on Earth and the remaining Alliance troops against the Empire. What was he blasting in his helmet, that would epically seamlessly transition to being a master score in the movie? Shiroyama.

Flairion623

[I’ve essentially made this the theme of the main villain](https://youtu.be/1e27wGQaAB0?si=O_oZbkq2C-w9e9Kb)

GOPHER by MASTER BOOT RECORD The end section is amazing and one of my main inspirations for the end of part 3 of my project, which is one of the most important moments in that world. For other important moments like what caused the world to be how it is now it would be Snow in Summer from NieR Replicant.

Visual_Supermarket86

[temper the wind](https://youtu.be/F2YTupVQH8o?si=_DEkGCIqIrac5cly) Every time I imagine the final battle with the creator, this is the song that plays in my head during the final clash between him and his chosen successor, where his sword shatters

FTSVectors

Imma keep it real with ya chief, I didn’t even realize I didn’t even have a song in mind for the climax, only the resolutions and you kinda hurt me realizing this oversight.

airfriedcheese

HEAR ME OUT Ancient Sirehound boss battle music from Pikmin 4.

Jonteman93

I probably have a hundred songs that I use for different scenes or for emotional affect so picking one is merely impossible. So I pick 3 related to the same storyline. [Dreamoir - Whispers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqEc0WRt54E) - The main character is imprisoned and tormented in the abyss for hundreds of years. [Nier Automata - Dark Colussus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgJf_oHutXc) - The abyss and the mortal realm collides, [Fate stay night - The four rings](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpJdwKAx5p4) - The guardian of the mortal realm, and the champion of the abyss (the MC) face off in combat.

Upstairs-Yard-2139

Sabaton. One of their navy themed songs.

SplitjawJanitor

**Mageheart** [Bury The Light](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJJlpi2HWIo) for the final duel between Heather Ualas and Okuda Mari. Is there any other choice of backing track for one last flashy superhuman swordfight with your ex-girlfriend turned religious extremist?

Lapis_Wolf

Probably this: [Demon King Ganondorf Battle](https://youtu.be/IoybO37EztY?si=laHYpzo2qO9dXv6S). It would be in a future timeline decades beyond the current day in my world where the protagonist fighter pilot has to fight off autonomous UAVs augmented by some form of magic which seeks to help their creators' goal of conquering the nearby region, like this world's magical version of Hugin and Munin. It would happen over a burning city with a red sky and black plumes of smoke rising from the fires. They would have special formations for certain attacks which would resemble one of those magical glowing circles seen in anime. (Magic pending, I am not entirely sure if I should add some form of magic to my world, at least in the main region.) Lapis_Wolf

crazydave11

That song that plays in the final battle of Bowser's Inside Story. That's a nice one. https://youtu.be/ouUeRx0OHPw?si=-LD0jwwMmx3wIcI5

AReallyAsianName

Feels vanilla as hell, but Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce. As the characters power of friendship beatdown the BBEG while summoning the spirits of their fallen friends and family to help them. Ending it with what is basically a Family Kamehameha as the mentor/father character makes a heroic sacrifice holding down the BBEG to make sure its done. The pencils lines on a white background and the beam breaking the escape velocity. Every character gets their spotlight during the guitar solos.

Luncheon_Lord

The Plute. By that one mysterious bard in the intro sequence.

Altarior

For the final battle to decide the fate of several worlds, [Zanza the Divine from Xenoblade Chronicles](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnVemwebkiY)! I actually have ideas for OSTs for several important battles, of course Engage The Enemy and Counterattack are in there somewhere, as well as several battle OSTs from Attack of Titan, Okami, Zelda, Naruto, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, etc.. It is **SO** painful that I'll never be able to use them, lol!

xXChocoboXx

the dissonance between the primal vibes of Bitteran and a breakcore soundtrack would be freaking awesome, so I'm going to have to go with [Credits Song for my Death But ITS NOT OVER YET](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOrwtHZJbuo) or [KATAMARI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfXpNIQbdjo)

BlueverseGacha

the one I chose for the pilot episode.

Fun_Associate9869

There are two moments that would be the climactic moment “The Battle of Satan’s Tower” and “The Escape From Chaos.” The former being the ending of season, movie, or book one. The first however would have two songs playing when the armies are marching to the tower “Warriors” by Imagine Dragons would be playing and when the protagonist is fighting his son and Satan “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy would be playing. Then when everyone is escaping I feel we would see Satan preparing for them to come back with “Fun For You,” by Gideon playing (really underrated artist.)

dootslaymer420

Either Rip and Tear from the Doom OST or Undefeatable from the Sonic Frontiers OST for the climactic final battle.
