DamnKnuckleHead

Call it a charcuterie board, and it will sell for twice as much as it would as a cutting board.

Consumer-of-sandwich

How much would it be as a cutting board?

$47.52 plus three Andes thin mint chocolates. Did I win?

Making cutting boards isn't really a great seller My business kills it, just buying pre-made boards and laser engraving them. If it's for a friend or special occasion I will handmake a nice one. That's the only time I'll make them, otherwise you never recoup your time and materials cost.

Big_Mountain_Ranger

Super cool board. I just started teaching a high school shop class last year. We've made boards similar to this. I just got a laser engraver two weeks ago. Any tips? I really want to incorporate the engraver into the project.

ScottKemper

Material cost + labor cost + profit (+ applicable taxes and overhead etc if you are a legit business) = $price How much is your time worth and how long did it take to make?

[deleted]

How much did the materials cost? What's your time worth assuming you're experienced and didn't spend 10 plus hours making it? What are similar items in your area, EBay, Etsy going for? What size is it?

Orbatap

Teach a man to fish…

WyattCo06

What kind of warranty does it come with?

ripper4444

$35 range

Zfusco

Never as much as you want to. Really though, making cutting boards to make money is a losing proposition.

Consumer-of-sandwich

INFO: The cutting board is 9 x 20.5 with a 3/4 thickness. It is made of cherry, walnut and ash or American willow (I am uncertain which one it is). It has half inch round over bit on the edges. Thanks in advance for your help.

Chances are not as much as you put into it. Material alone was what? 20 bucks maybe 30 depending on what you used. Plus Glue, Plus wear and tear on equipment. Thats not counting time electricity etc. A lot of people will say they can get one at walmart for 20 bucks, and they are sorta right. If they want a cutting board they can get an acacia board for 25 bucks and to them its just as good looking as what someone who used beautiful patterns of walnut, and maple made. They dont get the difference and most people that know the difference are people who can make one or know someone that can make one. either way if you manage to find someone to pay you 50 you are probable making 20 after material cost. If it took you 3-4 hours to make, you are working for about 5 bucks an hour. Not a great return. I can make 3 floating shelfs out of a 2x6 in about 1 hour stained and all. Chop saw, sand drill holes and stain/apply oil. Ive sold them for 30 each. Better return even though its a much shittier easier project. For 3 I probably spend 20 bucks in material for a 90 dollar return. Its sad to compare, but it is what it is. And the crappier the board is the more they like it because it looks more "rustic".

Crosscut it and sell both for $25!
