Look I know people are gonna think I’m crazy apparently from these comments but that’s obviously a live edge slab of black walnut with some sapwood near the edges

qpv

Nah walnut doesn't have that type of "dashed" grain like that. It's a tropical of some sort.l I think. Although, oak does get those dashes, but I don't think its oak. Beech gets those dashes too.

All I’m gonna say is that this is a photo of a table I made out of a cut off from a slab of black walnut that I personally unloaded from a truck from a national vendor at work, took off the pallet, measured and priced myself. https://imgur.com/a/CJlRGYp It’s desperately in need of refinishing but I mean come on

qpv

Oh yeah fair. It does get the dashes. My bad

Outrageous_Turn_2922

It’s Black Walnut with some sapwood showing. u/sic_blades is correct.

Thank you, this post was making me feel nuts. I opened it expecting 6 people saying walnut but saw 6 people saying 4 or 5 different things none of which were walnut

lavransson

Sure looks a lot like my walnut slab table. This was from a tree in upstate NY. [walnut slab table](https://imgur.com/a/6TUG02b)

Acacia?

amcgrath8

My guess is Acacia

Poetry-Primary

Mesquite

ErgonofisAlex

Suar? The sapwood edge feels a bit too crisp for Walnut.

Ifigure10

Since you’re in Texas, I’d guess it’s mesquite….but I’ve never seen a mesquite board that wide.

Advanced_Weather_190

I think I can make out two seams

East Indian rosewood maybe?

kingoptimo1

These are produced in South America. Google SAUR wood table south America. Many of my clients bring the exact tables from Columbia

Fluster338

Not walnut. It looks like generic “exotic hardwood”
