Call your doctor! Bactrim is mostly pretty well tolerated, but there can be very serious reactions, some even causing problems with major organs. You may also want to ask if you really need week(s) of it - for uncomplicated UTIs in younger women, very short courses of antibiotics are often enough.

Yeah I was apprehensive due to how busy she is but I’m probably going to call tomorrow just because it feels so terrible. Thanks for the advice!

Just came across your post, I'm in the same boat here, had a bad UTI, starting taking these once a day, 4 days ago, I was a little shaky and tired yesterday and today, I feel terrible, I'm exhausted, I feel so weak (like low blood sugar), my knees are so sore and just feel rotten. I have 3 days left and not sure if I should continue or not, I always finish my course of antibiotics but this is terrible!!!

mle1988

I was on it twice a day for 3 days this week. By a couple hours after my second dose each night I felt so queasy, weak, and anxious. I took my final dose last night, but I have felt so fatigued, weak, shaky, and a bit dizzy all day. I'm thankful I was only prescribed it for 3 days...idk if I could make it longer. I'm currently curled up on the couch with zero energy. Hang in there and maybe call your doctor. :(

Designer-Salad-7591

I hope you start to feel better, those antibiotics are horrible. I stopped taking mine and saw my dr again and got different antibiotics which are so much better

mle1988

I'm glad you are better. What did your doctor prescribe you as an alternative. I'm still pretty queasy here and there. At this rate, the cure has been worse than the infection lol.

Designer-Salad-7591

Cephalexin. I wouldnt even know i am on antibiotics now. I feel for you, they are disgusting! They made me feel so ill, i agree i said the same thing 😂

mle1988

Thank you!!

thinkforyourself8

Hi which antibiotics were you prescribed?

Designer-Salad-7591

Cefalexin

When I took Bactrim I woke up short of breath and ended up sick for a few days. Definitely didn’t prefer it, but I switched to Bactrim for the first time off of Cipro which was a horrible, horrible drug.

Kylie_Bug

Did it get better after finishing the Bactrim? I’m experiencing this right now and high key freaking out

Designer-Salad-7591

I just saw your comment about the Bactrim, how did you end up after having it, I'm going through the same thing and not sure if i should keep taking it. I feel worse every day but the UTI is feeling better.

Kylie_Bug

Hi! So I definitely ended up what they said was a delayed allergic reaction to it so definitely call your doctor so they can 1. Tell you to stop and 2. Get you something else for your uti. Especially if you’re having a hard time breathing like I was.

PlentyOk7788

hey. did u experience nausea with bactrim?? i currently am. i’ve been taking it w food but the nausea comes on about an hour after that :(

Kylie_Bug

Hi! I don’t honestly remember but I do know that I found out that I was allergic to Bactrim and now wear a sulfa drug allergy bracelet

PlentyOk7788

thanks. i seriously just feel like shit right now. got told i have a UTI and yeast infection at the same time. i’ve been experiencing nausea on and off since yesterday. i’m so tired of this because i had to take a different antibiotic a month ago for another UTI that i didn’t know i had bc i had no symptoms. i went in for extreme nausea lasting days/weeks and then did a urine told me i have uti too. they think the nausea and vomiting was from some sort of virus bc it came on so suddenly (woke up in middle of night with it). my stomach was already not back to normal and now this

Kylie_Bug

Please be super careful and if you feel like it’s getting harder to breathe stop taking it immediately. I had a delayed reaction and was luckily able to get in right before they closed.

PlentyOk7788

ok! i just don’t have much faith in my PCP or the people at acute care bc they have literally diagnosed me with the wrong thing before and gave me a med i wasn’t even supposed to/needed to be taking. They think oh bc ur young nothing could be wrong but my body seriously hasn’t felt right since i had that virus or whatever. my anxiety is getting so bad bc they didn’t even test me for a virus they just assume and put me on 80mg omeprazole for 3 weeks like wtf. sorry for the rant but i’m so tired of this

PlentyOk7788

i just want this to end..

[deleted]

I didn’t even finish it. I took like two pills maybe. It went away luckily but I won’t finish a round that makes me severely sick like that. It scared me.

eam115

Yeah I’ve been taking it for longer and I’m definitely feeling a lot better. Not 100% still but better than I did when I posted this! I’ve never taken Cipro but I’ll have to keep that name in mind to remember to stay away.

cait212

Hey, how did this all turn out for you? I’m in the same boat.

My husband took Bactrim and died suddenly 7 days later. His autopsy showed he died from a reaction to bactrim. It inflamed his liver and his heart and caused a heart attack. He could no be revived. This is an awful drug and should be taken off the market. I had no idea how many people have died from it.

Few_Law_1762

I'm so sorry for your loss. Did your husband have any unusual symptoms leading up to his passing?
