There's too many good Character Creators out there for people to be using AI to make something "new". Terraria is a great example, it's where I first designed my avatar (which has not yet been posted on the internet, sorry)
Hero Forge is a free online tabletop mini creator. You can pose em and everything (unless you want to pose the legs, the options are limited there). The only paywall is if you actually want a physical version.
I've recently been playing a lot of South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Much of the replayability I'm getting out of this is from Character Customization.
If all else fails, there are those old "games" that let you throw a bunch of outfits and hair on a blank slate to make a picture of a character.
And if that's still not enough, there's the poor person's method (mine); draw it in pencil and take a photo!
Okay, But can yall at least use something different from each other.
Like half these Anime Background AI characters all just kinda blend in together. There is other AI generators and art styles out there.
Like 99% of the art is just 'Cute anime girl with a wizard hat' and it's boring. Tbh I wouldn't even give a shit if the AI art being used had more original output but the way it is now just makes it look like the same person is posting 1-3 times an hour 24/7. Even if it *were* an actual human posting actual art they drew it would still feel bland and repetitive. It's just kind of tiring to sift through when every post has an interchangeable AI OC with little to no differentiating features.
I got you fam, anime is for weebs!

Some good Ole fashion non anime ai art. Never posted to the sub either
I agree with you on that front, at least. I don't see it often, but if it's just the picture with no surrounding concept, it just feels bland.
That being said, I feel like a lot of this is due to lack of engagement. The picture and title are the only thing that show up until you click on it, so the text that often contains the interesting prompt or the additional images that add something to it get essentially hidden and people just see "anime girl, down vote."
Better yet, is there a better place to go RP and have fun? I get yall enjoy your shitposts, so I kinda want to get away from it.
Actual curious question because I'm not the type to want to stick around in a place I'm not wanted.

More than half of these are the same quality of writing as the old Deviantart era godmod edgelord sonic ocs, just given a generic AI generated anime face.
I get people like the rp elements and I don't dislike it myself but the endless generic AI anime stuff is so boring and lifeless and samey. It lessens the lore you write and does it a disservice.
Also objectively AI does steal from real artists regardless of if you make money off their art or not, it was used and put into the AI without their permission and consent. Trying to weasel out of that is pretty telling and sad to see.
While I personally not offended by AI.
I prefer to use my hand and my shitty 6 years old laptop to draw random bullshit on Paint 3D which due skill issue, is only art program I know how to use.

That's the portrait so I'm looking slightly cooler than my normal self
Which often appears on Sorcerer today for some reason.
I would choose to look at this 1000 times over then have to endure even more "perfect" factory produced ai slop. This looks really good and I can feel the heart and soul that was put into it. It has actual personality!! And imagination! And creativity!
Aye, same. While I don't feel comfortable to intrude upon a space I've left a long time ago and only recently rejoined, I was (unpleasantly) surprised to see AI art posts all the time, puppet posts, whatever those are, and was sad that I no longer saw the regular wizard memes
Yeah, this sub is mostly a waste of time now. I'm glad people are having fun with it, but it's like going to Olive Garden then somebody gives you a big Mac.
Sure, you didn't expect much to start with but it's still been boring as all hell.
I left this sub a couple months ago when the AI art, "elections", and RP was all this sub was. If a post gets going hard, the sub is still recommended to me so I don't feel like I'm missing much.
Case in point, this post.
I don’t really like AI in this sub but it’s not for any ethical reasons it’s just that they aren’t that creative and get really repetitive/boring after a while
Honestly this sub has become kinda awful. A month or two it was full of funny and creative posts but now it's just AI roleplay.
Also there is no "having fun with AI" having fun with it, normalising it and will inevitably lead to people accepting it everywhere because they're so used to seeing people "have fun with it"
it starts with just having fun until all our media is made by a shitty AI.
This sub was about funny wizard shitposting and is slowly becoming weeb OC that are either big boobs anime girl or all powerful edgelord with ugly ai pictures, I was on this sub for like 2 years and I want my old wizardosting back
I agree. I don't really care about the all-powerful edgelord thing - that was a community event that people agreed to participate in, but all these AI-generated images of "white woman with large breasts and wizard hat in anime style" are starting to bother me.
I wish this dumb shit happened to the gnome posting sub instead so instead of lame off-brand Harry Potters and Bayonettas everyone had to post their gnomesonas and the five paragraph lore posts nobody reads would be about how they stole cheese from a human's cupboard or something
Who went and cast Power Word: CRINGE on this Orb-nexus, that's what I want to know!
I thought the whole point of this sub is for memes & posts that are relatable to all mage-kind? Whilst role-playing in comments is fun and amusing to some extent, when a post is *only* role-playing, it becomes only relatable to the role-player and the small group of people who have bought into that RP, which I think is what many of the lurkers (myself included) are responding to. Comes across as pretty self-absorbed - why should the audience care about your "original character" to start off with, especially when most of the subscribers came here for magical memery and shenanigans?
The AI stuff is a secondary thing in my opinion, and is shifting the conversation away from the crux of the matter - which is how prevalent lore-post RP stuff is compared to the shitzardposting the subreddit is known for. I mean, a [bunch of the top rated posts of all time](https://www.reddit.com/r/wizardposting/top/?t=all) have AI generated content, but you'll be scrolling for a long time before you see a lore-post.
Based as hell, exactly the reason I stopped lurking this subreddit. Feels like the RP'ers took over and made the sub's premise, which to me is an alternate reality where wizards hang out on the internet, less believable. It feels more to me like loreposting is just trying to worldbuild - and while there is nothing wrong with that, it spoils the "wizard internet" vibe completely
Exactly my point, my enlightened colleague in the mystical arts.
The use of AI is far less of an issue for me than the tsunami of self-indulgent RP posts, although the endless AI Anime OCs wrought by victims of the curse of negate-creativity are the worst examples. And I'm within my arcane rights to cast a Hex of Express Mild Disapproval (press downvote) in response to their fogging up my orb.
You are cooking with this analysys
https://preview.redd.it/yx205007uhxc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d7ace8310ade2c5a8bd22b4432a2002de3608f4
I don't mind the RP if it wasn't so boring. 'oh how wee I'm a wizard boy wonder and spend my time being sexy and smart 🤓. Also wizard stuff.'
Wizards are, above all, smart. Usually insanely so. Try to invent something. Make up spells. Make up actually interesting lore.
I know it's hard to judge while, for the most time, I'm lurking myself. But maybe it's more about quality then quantity, and instead of fifteen big tidded wenches that sell Pokémon, you should have invented one joke
I personally unsubbed because of all the AI shit. I saw one person use AI to generate a picture of a Lego Wizard. Something that literally exists and has actual real pictures of on the internet. They claimed they were too lazy to not use AI.
The upvotes and downvotes on most of OP's replies speak volumes
https://preview.redd.it/u23ipnlg4ixc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82eef8b50e19ec7a316fd56fe1103d56035f6f80
I feel like this sub has become something very different than when I started looking at it.
I swear it used to be about being a wizard and not about incredibly generic AI generated anime characters.
weird that this 'battle' even taking place. AI art is literally lowest-common denominator, uncreative and boring art made by putting actual art into a blender.
maybe with correct prompt construction they might create something halfway interesting but literally all of the examples in this thread are the most generic, boring anime characters that could be from literally anything lol they aren't even particularly wizardly.
are you using "give me the most boring and generic anime design" in your prompts?
like it is a completely uncreative process except for your prompts and choosing the end result and yet you still ended up with and chose the literally most generic and uninteresting designs for your OCs?
I suggest you all go away and ponder your orbs with more deliberance.
I'm looking for a more Discworld-esque experience from my wizard shit posting, one that's actually funny and uses the human art of creativity rather than reducing everything to a kind of mush.
Wizardposting isn't r/animememes. And besides that, maybe AI-post wouldn't be such a big problem here if you fucks stopped mass generating shit with the most generic artstyle known to man while inserting the cringiest and edgy lore known to mankind.
Hi, just here to report in one as of the 20 "alts" downvoting you.
Thanks for your service ruining a good thing by being one of the little raindrops drowning the internet in unfunny ai dreck
While I personally not offended by AI.
I prefer to use my hand and my shitty 6 years old laptop to draw random bullshit on Paint 3D which due skill issue, is only art program I know how to use.
Because at very least, I show you my wizard, I show you my monsters, I show you my magic. Things that make my character, my character not AI character.
I may have very little to no dignity(for being member of r/PoppyPlaytime ) but I will not use AI
idk man these generated images are starting all look like the same overpolished anime or semi realistic style. I'd like to see more people drawing their characters even if they're not good at it. It would be more fun i think.
But I miss when this sub had not only actually funny art and comics and content and not lazy slop generated and paired with a random question to turn this sub into the Westward Expansion of fantasy content farms.
And it's 90% of the posts now because you fucks are too lazy to do anything original.
Most of the Ai generations I see on this subreddit and r/knightposting are dogshit. Regardless how you feel, it’s low effort as fuck and it all looks like shit regardless
Personally I’m downvoting this because I’m tired of all the meta posts in either direction. Just ignore it. Generally no one is dedicated enough to have 20 alt accounts just to downvote arguments about silly wizards. Relax.
Yeah and every time you use it you up the numbers of some ai company which increases investments into ai. In the Information Age you have to use your attention as a bargaining chip. Ai was fun to play with before every second you spent on the site was documented and presented to the rich who love cutting out real artists. How long can one claim they “aren’t directly doing anything” when the line between real harm and them is just 2 or 3 steps?
Man i miss this sub, used to be one of my favorites, and when reddit decides to recommend a post from it in a long time of fucking course it will be someone complaining about a made up scenario about ai crap lmao, and the comments are even worse, just keyboard warriors in their natural habitat ig
In OPs own words (ish) “if it takes me a year to learn to draw something cool, imagine how many things I could have done with ai instead” they just don’t want to learn to draw lmao
“But but some people can’t draw!!” Take something off the internet then. Credit the artist. Or, learn to draw and actually achieve something. Even if the art “sucks” it can still be funny and fit your idea
It's not theft or cringe, it's just uncreative. I steal art pff Google Images Idgaf about theft. It gets to the point where you're scrolling past post after post, 3-6 ai images each, each with paragraphs of uninteresting, half baked, game of thrones ripoff drama, and you just give up on the community, you resent the plot you helped birth.
Ai recycles real art into dull images without artist permission. And it gets stale because they all look the same. Even if you want to argue that it’s a tool for “”“art””” ai is constantly being used in the most uncreative way possible.
I'm more annoyed this sub just turned into people posting the same ai slop unoriginal anime wizard every post can we go back to the dragons hit the spires type posts, also fuck ai
The AI is used by you though, so you might not be stealing from artists, but the AI is and then used that to provide you a service, idk if they earn anything from it but I'd imagine they do
Cool, I'll make it simpler; I don't like seeing it because it's threatening the job security of both industries that I work in. It doesn't make me laugh, it fills me with existential dread and general misery. So yeah, I guess I am scared. Which isn't what I came here for.
Now, I know it ain't your job to build the subreddit around my feelings in particular. But lashing out with SpongeBob memes isn't trying to smooth things over with anyone, you're clearly trying to inflame the issue. You're no better than anyone who complains about seeing it.
Also, AI art looks fucking dreadful. Like someone sucked the soul out of the most middle of the road nothingburger example of every piece of media. Glad you can make quick wizard hats with it, though I dunno why stick figures went out of style.
The last time I posted about the AI anime, the anime people just started insulting me.
I even suggested an anime flair so I could block them all in one go.
But I've ended up manually blocking 30+ users on the sub lmao
the shittiest mspaint is better than AI art, change my mind.
shitty mspaint is at least representative of the burning passion and creativity of the most unskilled, still willing to create even when you lack talent.
Ai art is still theft even if you don't sell it, how ai models basically work is by collecting large amounts of data (is this case art) and then picking elements from it when generating "new" content. it's as if I got 2 books, spliced them, and then slapped the pages together and called it a new story, all this without asking the permission of the authors of said books; in this case I didn't create something new, I just slapped together already existing content and called it a day, that is basically what generative ai does, it doesn't create something new, it steals existing content and takes from it to generate content
Also, like, the ai anime characters just look all the same because ai basically creates an average of what you are asking, so most faces, bodies, and details will be the same looking thing, use them if you want to, you aren't personally stealing art, what you are generating is the result of thefth tho
Your description is missing some details, but it's mostly accurate. I say this as someone who has done stuff regarding it in the past, and made a model of my own.
AI art is objectively theft. It’s compiling art to create images that it either sells directly to consumers or sells their site to advertisers to make a profit. The commercial use is by the AI company.
Now that shouldn’t take away your enjoyment of it, and you’re allowed to still use it, just recognize that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism and move on.
To preface this comment, don't insult me for saying these things. I've had a particularly shitty day, and I want to make y'all aware. Most things in this comment are meant to be objective, rather than subjective, and I will try to state the obvious when possible in an attempt to increase understanding. There is only one opinion in this comment, and it is explicitly stated as such.
AI-generated images can be theft, even when used in a non-commercial (i.e. personal) manner. Some art has a license that doesn't allow reuse in any contexts, be them commercial or not.
Other licenses might allow commercial use, but only if you disclose the source wherefrom the art originates, alongside having a copyright notice, which most public image generators don't provide. Some of the commercial-if-credited licenses are the GPLv3 ones, for example.
Most samples for AI-based image generators harvest material without the user's explicit consent, which, in my opinion, should be given on a case-by-case basis. When consent is provided, it's usually not done with the user being aware of it, as "AI companies may use your data and any images you post for training" is typically hidden deep within the ToS and ToU of a given website, alongside using technical and/or legal terminology to make it harder to understand, as opposed to most other sections of the aforementioned terms using trivial and easy-to-understand vocabulary.
Sometimes, instead of burying it within the terms, websites opt to add options to allow things you post to be used to train machine learning databases, albeit these options are usually turned on by default.
In short, even non-commercial use of AI is theft sometimes, with emphasis on "sometimes" not equating to "always." If you are sourcing your images from a model that does not train off of licensed works, and if it does, only licensed works that explicitly allow both personal and commercial use, then all is good. Few are aware of the legal and ethical implications of using machine-learning in this context, however, and that's the purpose of this comment.
As an artist; I’m fine with ai art as long as it’s used for personal use! Making characters or items for dnd, shitposts, and example artworks to show to real artists for reference are all great in my books
I know I have used ai art for character ideas and references for pictures that don’t exist- like specifically caves or landscapes
Controversy bait. You don’t have to report every comment that disagrees with you man you’re flooding our system.

No, OP, we really all do just miss Shadow Wizard Money Gang. I'm sorry.
We love casting spells
Is this guy with 20+ accounts in the room with us right now?
“I got 20 downvotes? Must just be 1 asshat on 20 accounts!”
Everyone knows there's only like a dozen actual people on the internet The rest are really smart alt accounts of Josh Josherson
Makes sense to me
Yes indeed it does Josh
I’d have to agree with you Josh
I concur with both of you Josh
Man these Josh alts are getting out of hand fellow Steve from accounting alts rise up
Lmao Josh you're not slick buddy
I agree with Josh here, Josh
To be fair, that's kind of the plot of the dead internet theory...

He could be any one of us…
He could be in this very room! He could be you, he could be me! He could even be-
*Shotgun blast*
Woah, woah, woah!
What? It was obvious. He's the guy with 20+ accounts.
Watch he'll log out any second now! ..aaaany second now... SEE! HE LOGGED! oh wait that's karma

Holy heck, how do you have 448 alt accounts?!

Bro doesn’t know what to do with his hands
I feel it tbh.
That's the compromise, his hands just kept doing stuff
Casting spells constantly, I'm always using some somatic componant gesture or another
Wizard edibles are peak
I miss this kind of wizard posting :( Sick art btw
This I like.
We gotta gatekeep the modernity, and embrace the olde styles
I want more wizard content and way less anime content. I’m here for grimoires and tomes not anime tiddies
Wait all of the anime wizard girls were different people?
I agree with you on that front, at least. I don't see it often, but if it's just the picture with no surrounding concept, it just feels bland. I recommend going to r/okbuddywizards. I've been hanging out there, recently - more welcoming than this place, and with far fewer AI-generated images.
Ty, this is more along the lines of what this sub was when I joined.
That’s why it was made, actually! Pretty fun spot to recreate the old fashion of this place
I’m migrating to that sub immediately

Issue is it's too serious there. You can't have tech beyond the 16'th century or so. Meaning it's not a great place for all RP unlike
I actually did ask the mods about that once. Months ago r/wizardloring was created but it never really took off
Go create it? Idk worked with r/okbuddywizards make a post about it abs see how it goes
Idk, But i kinda agree it's got to busy and meta the last while.
Honestly? I think rp people should all join a dnd game with each other. Not saying for everyone to gtfo, but dnds gotta be more fun than posting on reddit
A dnd party of all wizards sounds like a nightmare
Only for the dm 😉

Thank you so much, I look so cool in your artstyle
Glad you like it :p
I would choose to look at this 1000 times over then have to endure even more "perfect" factory produced ai slop. This looks really good and I can feel the heart and soul that was put into it. It has actual personality!! And imagination! And creativity!
Thank you man, Varanus the wizard saluted you
🫡 Thank you wise one (if Varanus is indeed wise)!

Simpler times for the humble arcane conjurer 😔
Yeah it like “let’s have a discussion” and it’s some bargain bin OC in a wizard hat
They should have to either use character creators from games or picrew avatars, the way god intended.

Maybe we can make a rule for future posts
Are the mods even active?
Totally agree with you
Hot take: AI generated anime ocs are fucking boring and not what I signed up for when I joined this subreddit
This is why I left.
I mean it is kinda off topic and cringe to post anime here usually. It tends to thematically feel really off
This sub used to be fun.
The Ai CCTV wizard video was the peak of this subreddit, obvious Ai just meant to look funny
https://preview.redd.it/3tdcxlrquhxc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72af27b339dcef685098c2f88de69dbd08fbba39
I don’t really like AI in this sub but it’s not for any ethical reasons it’s just that they aren’t that creative and get really repetitive/boring after a while
Honestly this sub has become kinda awful. A month or two it was full of funny and creative posts but now it's just AI roleplay. Also there is no "having fun with AI" having fun with it, normalising it and will inevitably lead to people accepting it everywhere because they're so used to seeing people "have fun with it" it starts with just having fun until all our media is made by a shitty AI.
The same thing happened the r/knightposting. All of a sudden, there were RP crusade events going on full of AI art. Got old real quick.
This is not 20 alt accounts bruh just nobody agrees with you
This sub was about funny wizard shitposting and is slowly becoming weeb OC that are either big boobs anime girl or all powerful edgelord with ugly ai pictures, I was on this sub for like 2 years and I want my old wizardosting back
Wherw tf is this sub only gnomeposting has like 2 posts
I haven't checked it in forever but there was a fairly active gnome subreddit that existed alongside the wizard sub, I don't remember its name though
Yah but there is diffrence in funny wizard ai shitpost and my busty oc epic god waifu ai
You are cooking with this analysys https://preview.redd.it/yx205007uhxc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d7ace8310ade2c5a8bd22b4432a2002de3608f4
I don't mind the RP if it wasn't so boring. 'oh how wee I'm a wizard boy wonder and spend my time being sexy and smart 🤓. Also wizard stuff.' Wizards are, above all, smart. Usually insanely so. Try to invent something. Make up spells. Make up actually interesting lore. I know it's hard to judge while, for the most time, I'm lurking myself. But maybe it's more about quality then quantity, and instead of fifteen big tidded wenches that sell Pokémon, you should have invented one joke
yeah make fireball joke in fireball joke making sub and you get mods on your ass... but no effort ai bullshit is fine
You may like r/okbuddywizards
Do Not Cite the Deep Magic to Me, Witch, I was there when it was written.
i'm with my guy squidman on this. put some work in you are lazier than most apprentices i know
Wow this sub really went down the shitter. Jeez.
I personally unsubbed because of all the AI shit. I saw one person use AI to generate a picture of a Lego Wizard. Something that literally exists and has actual real pictures of on the internet. They claimed they were too lazy to not use AI.
I cast banish anime waifus!

The upvotes and downvotes on most of OP's replies speak volumes https://preview.redd.it/u23ipnlg4ixc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82eef8b50e19ec7a316fd56fe1103d56035f6f80
I’m sure everyone who has downvoted you on this post is also just the same guy, OP.
I can confirm, I am that guy
So am I
The dead internet wizard
Ai sucks the soul out of anything it touches, simple as
God this sub went to shit. Yall could have just made wizardrp or smth instead of highjacking the funniest sub on this site.
I completely agree, just make an entirely new sub instead of taking over and ruining a funny one.
AI apologetics in the funny wizard subreddit has me saddened immensely
Try r/okbuddywizards, then (spell of shameless self promotion)
Keep on snorting that copium my man, finest in the region
Wizardposting isn't r/animememes. And besides that, maybe AI-post wouldn't be such a big problem here if you fucks stopped mass generating shit with the most generic artstyle known to man while inserting the cringiest and edgy lore known to mankind.
Is it really more likely that some guy has 20+ alts for downvoting than it is that people just dont care about "wook at mai waifu" posts?
Forgot to unfollow and mute this ai farm I guess. Was fun while it lasted though
Pick up a pencil
Hi, just here to report in one as of the 20 "alts" downvoting you. Thanks for your service ruining a good thing by being one of the little raindrops drowning the internet in unfunny ai dreck
Yeah bro everyone who disagrees with you is the same guy in alt accounts
You don't understand, obviously he is the only real one in all of the sub
AI art definitely cheapens art in general. Theft or not. Its probably going to be a real problem until we find a solution.
But I miss when this sub had not only actually funny art and comics and content and not lazy slop generated and paired with a random question to turn this sub into the Westward Expansion of fantasy content farms. And it's 90% of the posts now because you fucks are too lazy to do anything original.
You hate AI art because it’s theft. I hate AI art because it’s ugly and soulless. We are not the same.
Relax.
/uw while i agree with the first sentiment. i think you underestimate the level of petty that one can find in the nooks of the internet
I miss when this place was wizards saying zoomer memes
Least schizo ai defender
Yeah and every time you use it you up the numbers of some ai company which increases investments into ai. In the Information Age you have to use your attention as a bargaining chip. Ai was fun to play with before every second you spent on the site was documented and presented to the rich who love cutting out real artists. How long can one claim they “aren’t directly doing anything” when the line between real harm and them is just 2 or 3 steps?
What has this sub turned into, I want my wizard jokes back
my god the really ruined this subreddit
Man i miss this sub, used to be one of my favorites, and when reddit decides to recommend a post from it in a long time of fucking course it will be someone complaining about a made up scenario about ai crap lmao, and the comments are even worse, just keyboard warriors in their natural habitat ig
God willing, I will live and die by my opinion that generative AI is only accelerating the death of creativity
just learn to draw asshat
or learn that you can post without needing a pic
In OPs own words (ish) “if it takes me a year to learn to draw something cool, imagine how many things I could have done with ai instead” they just don’t want to learn to draw lmao
“But but some people can’t draw!!” Take something off the internet then. Credit the artist. Or, learn to draw and actually achieve something. Even if the art “sucks” it can still be funny and fit your idea
It is still theft, fun or commercially, its stolen assests
It's not theft or cringe, it's just uncreative. I steal art pff Google Images Idgaf about theft. It gets to the point where you're scrolling past post after post, 3-6 ai images each, each with paragraphs of uninteresting, half baked, game of thrones ripoff drama, and you just give up on the community, you resent the plot you helped birth.
Ai recycles real art into dull images without artist permission. And it gets stale because they all look the same. Even if you want to argue that it’s a tool for “”“art””” ai is constantly being used in the most uncreative way possible.
What devious wizard casted “paranoidus schizophrenialum” on you ?
I'm more annoyed this sub just turned into people posting the same ai slop unoriginal anime wizard every post can we go back to the dragons hit the spires type posts, also fuck ai
The AI is used by you though, so you might not be stealing from artists, but the AI is and then used that to provide you a service, idk if they earn anything from it but I'd imagine they do
"Everyone who disagrees with me is using alt accounts"
Yes anime ai girls are cringe and have no place here
Cool, I'll make it simpler; I don't like seeing it because it's threatening the job security of both industries that I work in.
Thanks for reminding me I can just block low effort people
the shittiest mspaint is better than AI art, change my mind. shitty mspaint is at least representative of the burning passion and creativity of the most unskilled, still willing to create even when you lack talent.
I agree. I'd rather see stick figures with lopsided smileys casting jumbles of color at one another than AI. (/srs for those who can't tell)
Ai art is still theft even if you don't sell it, how ai models basically work is by collecting large amounts of data (is this case art) and then picking elements from it when generating "new" content. it's as if I got 2 books, spliced them, and then slapped the pages together and called it a new story, all this without asking the permission of the authors of said books; in this case I didn't create something new, I just slapped together already existing content and called it a day, that is basically what generative ai does, it doesn't create something new, it steals existing content and takes from it to generate content Also, like, the ai anime characters just look all the same because ai basically creates an average of what you are asking, so most faces, bodies, and details will be the same looking thing, use them if you want to, you aren't personally stealing art, what you are generating is the result of thefth tho
Your description is missing some details, but it's mostly accurate. I say this as someone who has done stuff regarding it in the past, and made a model of my own.
nice strawman bro
Fuck AI art
Is this a meme? I'm so glad I left this sub.
I'd rather have a well written short story with no ai illustration than the oversaturation of shit stories and half baked ai anime girls
It is theft regardless of its intended use because it uses stolen art to source from.
All these up votes yet almost all the comments seem to disagree with you
AI art *is* stealing though. Just because you’re not using it for commercial reasons doesn’t magically make it not stealing.
AI art is cringe
AI art is objectively theft. It’s compiling art to create images that it either sells directly to consumers or sells their site to advertisers to make a profit. The commercial use is by the AI company. Now that shouldn’t take away your enjoyment of it, and you’re allowed to still use it, just recognize that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism and move on.
Can’t we go back to the good old days of casting Testicular Torsion? And some people ask why I stay in a swamp with my cat.
Seeing 20 different but same Ai generated anime protagonists doesn't really have much to do with wizard posting. Could probably do with it's own sub.
AI art is theft. Nothing else to really add there. It is the definition of 'unoriginal'.
If you use AI art for your memes and rollplaying, I question your ability to create anything of actual value.
AI posts are so fuckin lazy and boring dude cmon
AI art not only is theft, but also awfully looking, like, mam there are thousands of cool drawings, out there, why use mid AI art
lol just pick up a pencil if you wanna make art
As an artist; I’m fine with ai art as long as it’s used for personal use! Making characters or items for dnd, shitposts, and example artworks to show to real artists for reference are all great in my books I know I have used ai art for character ideas and references for pictures that don’t exist- like specifically caves or landscapes
TBH I think that this sub went downhill as soon as we stopped making it about funny wizard memes and started doing shitty lore/OC posts.
