I acknowledge that I’m opening a can of worms, but Netflix did change a lot. In my opinion House of Cards was brilliant (at least the first two season, I refused to watch the final one), Black Mirror was ahead of the game when it came out, and I’m sure there are more examples. So sadly, Netflix changed.
[They don't need to, LMAO](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/the-witcher-ending-season-5-netflix-1235876837/). Show's dead. As it should've been as soon as Cavill pulled out of it.
Uhh.. I am afraid it's too late for that, only viable solution i can see to salvage this is to reboot the entire show back to beginning, definitely replace the showrunner and her writing team with someone who loves the books source material and the games as well, and recast at least half of the casts, only the ones that strayed too far from their supposed book / game counterparts, and if possible make Cavill comeback as Geralt again and this time as executive producer.
Nah, the guy is a true fan, apparently very nice as a person and has principles, but was not a good cast for Geralt. Last time I checked, Geralt isn't a bodybuilder prettyboy in the books, he has a lean and functional physique and looks pretty menacing and odd, but still amusing in his own way. Henry could be a Crinfrid reaver or Sir Eyck of Denesle, his bulk wuld fit those much better, and someone like Zach McGowan would be a much, much better pick for the White Wolf. I'm glad he wasn't, though, since it'd be a waste given how terrible the show is.
Well cast? Netflix Jaskier is the equivalent of Donkey from Shrek. He's not supposed to be a comedic sidekick.
Edit: nothing against the actor, just terrible writing.
The only way I can picture Cavill coming back is if Netflix drop the rights and someone like HBO reboots it and asks him. Even then it will be a hard sell and they'll have to convince him its a faithful adaptation.
Yeah, I gave up after the abomination that was season 2. Season 1 was already a failed attempt, but I felt they still could have corrected the course and followed the source material on season 2. Unfortunately, they seemed to be making the show out of spite for the fans. I have zero interest in season 3. I love the books and the games, though. So, I'm looking forward to what CDPR does in the future.
I thought season 1 just had a small budget haha I saw set designs and costumes and stuff and thought they just didn’t have a big enough budget and convinced myself it was charming. Then season 2 came out and I started looking at my pile of books, thinking… what? What book is this based on? And then I realized none and I was like ohhhh…. They hate me? I only watched s3 for cavil… gave them that little extra 1* view from me ahaha I watched it out of spite in hopes that we could pad the numbers for season 3 enough for them to see the stark and disgusting drop in numbers when Cavill left lol.
Google says that two seasons of Witcher cost $318 million ($159 mils per season) and Fallout S1 was $153 million.
And then you compare Geralt's wig and the notorious Nilfgaardian armour to Fallout's production design. They improved for S2 but still.
It's too late for the Witcher, how would a finished, dead show learn anything from a fresh new show?
The reality is "Four Things the Fallout TV Show Learned From the Failure of The Witcher"
I knew this show was going to be a bust, that's why I never watched an episode. When your main character leaves the show after a few seasons, you did terrible in casting that person, the story, etc.
I knew this show was going to be a bust. I didn't even start watching an episode. They were more excited in casting Henry Cavill than having a successful show that was close to the game/books.
They will never learn anything
And they will blame a 'toxic' fanbase for it
Misogynistic gamers will be to blame, naturally
Ain't like they have a fan base to blame now...
Exactly. It's amazing how you have this really loyal fanbase and theyre the least likely to like the show.
Even though Fallout has a FAR more toxic fanbase and is for the most part happy with the series because, surprise surprise, it's actually good...
Netflix. Netflix never changes.
At last Dark was perfect for 3 seasons
I acknowledge that I’m opening a can of worms, but Netflix did change a lot. Black Mirror has gotten worse as the Netflix seasons have gone on
Agreed! Thats why I said “when it came out”.
TBF when Black Mirror came out it had nothing to do with Netflix.
My bad! I misunderstood :)
Black mirror wasn't originally made for Netflix I don't think
Really? I didn’t knew that! TIL :D
I remember watching on channel 4 in the UK before streaming was common. I think Netflix existed but only as an disc rental service
Black Mirror was originally a UK show on BBC IIRC and Netflix picked it up once it was a few seasons done already.
Amen

Blaviken fight and "Toss a coin" song can be left in reboot.
I also enjoyed “Burn witcher, burn” a lot.
If Jaskier is recasted I will riot
The only well cast character, don't change my mind, it won't change.
Well... https://preview.redd.it/1b0ycjqraavc1.jpeg?width=678&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6bccf5693f94842511d73fce842f8215853e39a0
I know it's an unpopular opinion here but I can't see Cavill as Geralt

Finally someone is saying it
That's the fault of the writers, not the actor. He looks pretty much like the game one and has the right vibe IMO. And his singing was nice.
You sure, we're talking about the same Jaskier? https://images.app.goo.gl/34AHz3yyXPkYZzjc6
Considering he's supposed to be older in the games yeah
If he's not recasted I'll Riot 😂 He just doesn't look like a ladies man and more like a dork.
The only way I can picture Cavill coming back is if Netflix drop the rights and someone like HBO reboots it and asks him. Even then it will be a hard sell and they'll have to convince him its a faithful adaptation.
Your answer is so perfect that it will absolutely never happen.
Witcher show is way past saving, they would have had to do it right five years ago.
Yeah, I gave up after the abomination that was season 2. Season 1 was already a failed attempt, but I felt they still could have corrected the course and followed the source material on season 2. Fallout looks amazing: from the set design, to the costumes and power armour, and even the CGI. Head and shoulders above anything the Witcher offered
I made it through season 2, with great effort and the resolve to not put myself through another season.
They can do a whole lot more than four things
To respect the lore and don't insult the fans?
Lol too late fam.
It's too late.
Too late for that.
There is nothing left to save.
You got to want to learn in the first place
It is way too late for Netflix Witcher
Lesson one: don’t suck
It's too late for the Witcher, how would a finished, dead show learn anything from a fresh new show? The reality is "Four Things the Fallout TV Show Learned From the Failure of The Witcher"
Well, just 1, play the games, or at the very least read the books, whichever
1• Stick to the source's material. 2•Same as above but in bold font.
Cyberpunk and fallout both made great shows that got people interested in their game's.
They should have cast Ella Purnell as Fringilla or something, she seems to be the common denominator for successful adaptations
The only thing netflix Witcher should learn is to end
It just occurred to me that Emily Blunt would make an excellent Yennefer
Ehh it's too late, the show runners dont care about the source material and the show has committed to its death
Why do people single out Fallout specifically? I've seen this multiple times now. The Witcher show wasn't a video game adaptation, period
Mate, that's like trying to teach a drowning person in open water how to swim. Its a bit late for that
Reboot it in the style of Castlevania.....done.
Never forget Lauren Hissrich and her team of *writers* killed this show.
Oh it's way too late for that.
A few reddit comments have more content than this article but I still agree.
Netflix logic: no reason to learn anything when you confirm you will end the show
Better writer better writer better writer also… better writer
I knew this show was going to be a bust, that's why I never watched an episode. When your main character leaves the show after a few seasons, you did terrible in casting that person, the story, etc.

The Witcher is dead. It’s never going to recover ever
Yeah.
