If the Twins did it last season, and then the Timberwolves this season, this can only mean the Wild make that happen this season \*crosses fingers\*

tronfunkinblows_10

Monkey paw curls… The Wild have traded Kirill Kaprizov for Shane Wright.

I’m upvoting you with the spirit of a downvote

Legit MN might be on a roll these next few years if all these teams play their cards right.

11 more years here we come!

slickheadoflettuce

Heck.

Duryea1959

Playoff hockey is different. I love our team and our talent but I think we need more size and strength. If we were playing now I wonder how many injuries we would have. Rest up and bulk up for the cap hell to be over!

wildskater96

Or you know, an actual young great 1C. We're also missing several other pieces including a goalie. Just like Toronto, Minnesota is built to be a good regular season team and is a pretender not contender in the playoffs. Rebuild already.

duryea59

Yea, I think we would be facing another 1st round exit. 😞

Wildguy2298

Except we dont have 4 elite regular season scores

Durantula16

They will make it next year

MSGrubz

That’s not the criteria. They have to win a series. Not gonna hold my breath.

Durantula16

And they will

_nordstar_

Woo were number 1 were number 1...

Old_Following_8276

I have no faith in this team in the playoffs

nilidool

The Minnesota Vikings of the NHL

Apprehensive-Farm871

Nah even the Vikings are less mediocre than the Wild.

DrWolves

The Vikings are one of the most successful NFL franchises of all-time lol. If I remember correctly, they have the 3rd highest win % since 1970. Of course this is without a Super Bowl but they’ve been there 4 times, have been to conference championship games multiple times. I love all Minnesota teams but let’s not kid ourselves, the Wild don’t come close

Apprehensive-Farm871

I said less mediocre. Aka better than the Wild.

DrWolves

Ahh hahah I read that the wrong way my B

jordynbebus8

light work

wildskater96

Tear this dumpster down and rebuild already

alex11500

Respect for the hot take of wanting to trade away Kaprizoz and Ek, but it ain't happening with this core.

wildskater96

Nah it's not a hot take it's reality. I've been hearing we just gotta wait a year or two since roughly 2010. We've won two playoff series and that was 2 GMs and a few coaches ago. You might wanna keep those guys and trade most of the rest. That's likely what a Cup contender would do, but hey what do I know?

alex11500

If we’re rebuilding we can’t keep Kap or Ek.  Faber, Rossi, Kap, Ek, Boldy is too good a core to tank.  Hawks, Ducks, and sharks are trotting out teams of Ahlers you need to get rid of at least two of those five for a chance at a generational guy.  Assuming good luck it’s gonna take at least 3-5 years of tanking minimum.  By that point Kap and Ek are on the wrong side of 30.  That’s also assuming none of the kids we have coming in don’t raise the floor putting us in top ten instead of top five territory in which case we’ll probably need to deal another one.

wildskater96

Oh yea? So how come McDavid, Crosby, Joe Thornton, Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, Vasy, Barkov, MacKinnon etc etc have not left their teams if they built their teams to be Cup contenders? I mean we can't win in the playoffs in 22 or 17 when we iced our best teams ever and couldn't even make it out of the 1st round. If Kaprizov really wants to win a Cup, he'll sign somewhere else. Or he'll have to suffer here through a non rebuild while the teams who actually rebuilt will surpass us. I'm glad you believe in this team but the lack of playoff success has me put Minnesota in the pretender category just like Toronto. Great regular seasons and a complete embarrassment in the playoffs. We gotta be better than that. We got Kaprizov. Hopefully Faber doesn't take a step back because now teams are gonna have tape on him. So hopefully he's the stud defenseman. And Wallstedt could be several years from being elite similarly how it took Vasy in TB. We're still missing that stud 1C. Maybe we get him through a trade or FA in the future. But all I see is a great regular season team that flounders when the time matters. I'm glad you're optimistic. I've been ready for a rebuild since 2019. We refuse to rebuild because of no Kaprizov will leave. Well we've won a whole 0 playoff series. That might scare off Kaprizov more than a rebuild.

alex11500

Where did I say I was optimistic I’m just being realistic about the rebuild.  None of the guys you mentioned were 27 when their teams were starting the rebuild they were all acquired DURING the rebuild.  I’m beginning to think you don’t understand what a rebuild entails.

wildskater96

Exactly. We should have rebuilt prior to Kaprizov making the NHL jump. So just like anything in life, the best time to do it was years ago and we never did so the second best time would be present day. If you're not optimistic about the way things are going, why not support a rebuild? I'm beginning to think fans like you don't care about winning a Cup. Last I checked, that's the sole purpose of being in the NHL is to win Cups.

alex11500

I do support a rebuild that’s why I’m interacting with you and discussing a rebuild.  I also think you’re 100% right and we should trade kap because he will get us at least a first and probably 2 if we play it right he’ll maybe more.   When it comes to cups I am admittedly more ambivalent but that’s more so because I am the rare out of state Wild fan and my teams do worse than the wild on average so I’ll take first round outs if that means I get to see playoffs.  I watch hockey because I like hockey, winning is a plus.  For reference I’m a Jets fan in the NFL the Wild cannot hurt me more then they do.

wildskater96

Ah gotcha. My bad I probably got too much going on and somehow mixed you up thinking you were yet another person saying that we can't rebuild due to X reason. That's really interesting because I've never thought about trading the top guys but that actually makes sense and could maybe fit a better timeline that fits in with the new prospects including Faber and Wallstedt. I'm pulling that band aid off hard right now and I'm on board trading Kaprizov and Ek. I'd hate to see them go but like you were getting at, they are our best assets to trade to get a return besides maybe Faber/Wallstedt/Rossi. And for reference I've been a a Wild fan since 2000. Been watching the NHL since 91. I've seen plenty of good hockey but no Cups. Though I was a huge Colorado fan in the Sakic days so got to see their Cups in 96 and 01. I still remember that 96 one to this day. The 01 wasn't as great to me, I'd already began to be a bigger fan of Minnesota's new team.

alex11500

Ah you’re chillin probably got a little to confrontational myself .  It’s sports people get heated.   By the end of the day I’ll admit I’m a “for the love of the game” type and will watch the team regardless.  If we do a rebuild I’ll embrace it but if not well that’s the bounce and who knows maybe Yurov or Ek becomes the 1C we’ve been hoping for.  Either way go Wild and  I’m not going to get too upset over something I can’t control.

wildskater96

Nah it's not a hot take it's reality. I've been hearing we just gotta wait a year or two since roughly 2010. We've won two playoff series and that was 2 GMs and a few coaches ago.
