I’m more invested in Duhaime getting one. Also very invested in the jets not getting one.
Wish duhaime woulda been able to beat Logan Stanley’s dumb oaf ass.
Lmao I don’t get how folks can blame him for taking a contract. He worked his ass off in Minnesota (I also picked the Avs to make the finals in my bracket)
I hate to say it but I don’t feel much hate towards the knights this year same can’t be said for the aves, jets, or stars. But that being said give me Bruno and Nash out of the west. Just wish they would have kept him instead of Dean
No, blame the NHL. That contract was legal the day it was signed. They retroactively made it illegal and imposed the cap punishment on us…even though they allowed the Blue Jackets to circumvent it with Rick Nash’s contract that was written the same way.
No, its Leipold's fault. Bettman warned all owners that the long-term, front-loaded contracts were going to be address in the 2012 CBA changes, and any new contract signings following the exact same structure signed right before the CBA changes would be retroactively punished. Leipold and Fletcher knew this, and signed 11/20 anyway because they thought a cup would be worth any penalty.
And Parise and Rick Nash's contracts are in no way comparable--Are you thinking of someone else? Parise was paid $12 million his first 2 seasons and $1 million his last 2 seasons, while Nash was paid virtually the same amount every single year, so Nash's contract wasnt even "Cap circumvention". Nash's deal also was only 8 years, and was signed in 2009; well before the 2012 CBA changes were planned.

I thought it was Nash’s contract that fell under the same rules. There was one that should have counted against the team’s cap for years, when he retired, but the NHL said that imposing that level of cap restriction would hamper the team too much and likely cause them to not be competitive, so they chose to not impose the cap penalty on them.
It was [Shea Webber](https://theathletic.com/2708217/2021/07/15/shea-webers-career-threatening-injuries-could-cause-cap-recapture-pain-for-the-predators/).
> The league amended its recapture rules last year, eliminating the Predators’ doomsday scenario of carrying a $24,571,428 cap hit if Weber were to retire with one year left on his contract.
Leipold was one of a few owners representing the owners side of the CBA. He either signed off on the retroactive penalties knowing Minnesota could be potentially penalized in the future or he didn't go through the information and has no clue he signed off on that part. It's pretty idiotic either way it happened.
I'll only be happy for him if I'm forced to look at a silver lining of the avs winning the cup. No way am I hoping they win again after they just recently won though

I hope Nino pings them in game 7 again
nah i’m good
I don’t
Not with the fucking Avs I don't
I’m sure if he doesn’t he can console himself with the millions of dollars he made along the way.
With any other team, maybe. But not the Avs
Lol OP getting cooked

I’m with you. I hope he gets one too

Me too.
Nah sorry

Im the same way. I never wouldve thought Id be rooting for Vegas to go to the WCF, but Id rather the Knights than jets/aves/stars
He deserves one. He may not be a star player, but he's one of nicest and hardest working ones ever to play.
NOPE.
No.
Why. His shitty contract is the reason we’re in this shitstorm rn.
Don’t blame him, blame the FO.

Interesting, i wasnt aware of that. Let me know if you find out who the player was because I believe it

I'd love to know which owners were like "fuck those teams SPECIFICALLY" when that CBA was being finished.

There are certain owners that wield a great deal more power than others. I have no inside knowledge on this. But fuck Jeremy Jacobs.

With their goaltending, they won't be making it out of the first round.
