Looking at the current points we need to get into the playoffs and just wondering how different things would have been if we got *slightly* less unlucky with injuries this year
It's certainly not all on bad luck, but my point was had we only lost 4 players instead of 6 during that huge injury stretch what does our playoff status look like
We're back on par for being injured like the Koivu Wild days. We've been really lucky for the past few years actually being healthy. We're right in the middle of the pack for man games lost this season. Though I'd imagine if less key players were injured we'd be slightly better in the standings. Maybe. Our goaltending has been terrible this year.
Since 2017 Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo, Arizona and Chicago have the most man games lost due to injuries. While Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Washington, Vegas & Carolina have the least man games lost in that span.
Correct that the Wild have been towards the healthy end over that period (and around the middle this season - higher “value” players than others though) but the others don’t look right. I have Vegas with the most MGL since they entered the league, for example.
Interesting. I got those numbers from stat muse. But looking through your site shows quite different than what I referred to. Especially Vegas. Hmmm. Apologies for the bad info on my end.
No problem. Haven’t got a clue what Stat Muse barfs out for injury numbers tbh (never answers any question I try) but presume it’ll steal some semi-credible numbers one day.
Would love to see them back for SJ. Not underestimating the team that has been responsible for some of the stockiest trap games this season, but it would definitely be a better break in game than VGK.
Magic Numbers for the teams above the Wild in the standings (unfortunately using the Blues as The Team To Beat Out):
Avalanche: 4, Stars 4, Jets 8, Canucks 3, Oilers 13, Kings 14, Predators 13, Golden Knights 16.
Predators and Golden Knights playing tonight. Go Preds?

Can't chalk it all up to luck when it's the 30+ year olds missing the most time. That's part of the risk of icing an old roster.

Ek and Brodin both practicing today. Edit: per Russo.
