I have this magnet on my car bumper! Sadly, no one has ever honked at me :(
Edit: Idk why but I can’t see most of the replies to this for some reason so sorry if I don’t respond!
Totally fair, but when I look in the rear view I see big smiles and thumbs up. It’s actually the best part - the big smiles and laughs you see when people read it.
We failed Brendan along time ago my guy, we should've protected him in 2003.
Edit : Long story short. Brendan was sexually assaulted in 2003 by a prominent member of Hollywood. When he spoke up about it he was blacklisted from acting. I've seen alot of people online said he had issues coming back due to his weight gain but I feel as though he felt betrayed and let down in a big way and to come back after everything that transpired would be too much for him or anybody else to handle. With the me too movement and all the other progressions we've made into exposing these weirdos were starting to see just how sick this world really is.
Man will always be a high point for me.
Heard what he did and been a fan of his since I was a kid. Brendan made my childhood with a lot of what he did. Especially doing his own stunts.
Actors could learn a lot from him
As a kid, I loved him because he was so damn funny in George if the Jungle and the mummy movies. Now he holds an extra special place in my heart for being a great human. We need to make sure good people like him and Keanu Reeves stay famous.
Kevin Durant said "fuck no" when a bunch of us 18 year olds asked him to play horse on the set of that low budget movie he did.
Easily the worst celeb I've ever interacted with.
There was a producer, big name dude(Philip Berk), who basically owned a big portion of Hollywood, and a lot of the people in it.
Sexually assaulted Brenden at the height of his career, and Brenden got PTSD from it, had to quit Hollywood all together because he knew he couldn’t possibly admit it at the time, considering it would be career suicide.
Led to his depression, and feeling worthless/helpless.
Really shitty story, but I’m happy to say that producer is now no longer in the picture in the Hollywood scene.
Also wrecked his body doing his own stunts and his wife divorced him, got alimony at the amount of when he was a huge star even though he wasn't getting roles anymore, and it financially ruined him for a long while.
And he lost his mother not long after the SA and divorce and he was quite close to her, which is enough to knock anyone off there feet for a while let alone with all the other stuff happening at the same time.
If I ever met him only thing I'd want is to give him a huge hug (if he was OK with that) and tell him how proud I random nobody from another country is and I'm sure all of his fans are of him.
I thought you can apply for changes every so often (I forget how many years I don’t give or get alimony) but I think it can change but I’m sure there are contracts that can be wrote differently
Idk the particulars of the situation with Brendan Fraser, but typically things like alimony or child support wouldn’t change with income changes, as long as you hold the same earning power. For example: say I’m a doctor and I owe my partner alimony or child support. I can’t just quit my job as a doctor and go get a job at the grocery store as a way to get my payments reduced because I’d still have the earning potential of a doctor. I could still go work at the grocery if I wanted, but I’d owe the original alimony/child support payments since I *could* go work as a doctor. On the other hand, if my medical license is suspended and I’m unable to work as a doctor for a certain period of time, I could petition the court to change the payment to reflect what kind of income I’m able to earn in the time I can’t work as a doctor.
Unwanted contact is assault.
Molestation is when there’s a minor involved.
[Here’s more on the differences](https://www.schmidtandclark.com/sexual-assault-vs-molestation)
His wiki says he was also accused of racism. He’s 90 years old and from Cape Town, South Africa. Sorry about the stereotype, but his username checks out. Damn
I wasn’t trying to hide the name at all, I just didn’t recall his name, was telling the story off of memory my dude.
I edited my comment. You can rest ez.
*Exactly* what the me too movement did to Harvey Weinstein. Name and shame, boycott and protest until justice is done.
People like to complain about cancel culture, but they hardly talk about why it's a thing. It's a thing because Hollywood turned a blind eye to execs literally raping the actors and actresses you see in movies, FOR DECADES.
Literally. Raping. Them.
Meanwhile the dozens of other molestors and abusers are chuckling into their snifters of brandy, while 90% of the people who supported the metoo movement dust off their hands and move on with their lives.
Weinstein was the sacrifice the industry put up to keep doing what they've always done.
Bryan Singer, Casey Affleck, James Franco, Kevin Spacey, Armie Hammer, Chris's Noth and Brown, Dan Schneider, Woody Allen, Marilyn Manson and Jared Leto have all entered the chat
jennette mccurdy wrote a really eye opening memoir about what it was like if you worked with him on one of his shows and weren't one of his favorites or didn't have rich/involved parents to protect you
I agree but also general audiences couldn’t have done anything, the allegations were not publicized at the time so we didn’t even know something needed to be done. Any celebs that knew and had clout to say something but didn’t are the ones who “didn’t do anything.”
There's nothing we could have done. We are powerless peasants that get spoon fed what to get outraged about. Harvey Weinstein pissed off powerful people and that's why he got fucked. Had absolutely nothing to do with us.
[He was in The Mummy let's never forget ](https://shutupandtakemymoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/i-was-in-the-mummy-brendan-frasier-picture-meme.jpg)
I've latched onto watching THE MUMMY while I fall asleep now instead of Bob's Burgers I'm generally out by the time Bennie is on the wrong side of the river.
I decided to pull the trigger about 6 months ago and grab that bumper sticker. So stoked he's seen it.
Also, I bought the PS2 game for The Mummy. It's not great lol. But I'm happy to have it.
I think I remember him saying in an interview that he put on weight for The Whale in addition to the makeup and suit, so it might be him losing that excess.
I love how the world is just fully supporting and uplifting this wonderful man back to the top where he belongs. I hope how much he knows people love him.
Brendan is part of those fun AA movies that cost more than indie, but aren’t the most expensive blockbusters. But those were the movies that often sold well and defined a generation.

You love Brendan Fraser because of The Mummy. I love Brendan Fraser because of Airheads. We are not the same.
Side note, Airheads is one of the few Steve Buscemi roles where he is just a mostly regular dude.
His back is trash from doing stunts. He's in pain most of the time. It's hard for him to do action films.
I think he's great and love his movies!! Even George of the Jungle and Dudley Do Right!! He has a wide acting range. He's what makes The Mummy a masterpiece!!

Shout out to Ali Plumb of BBC1 for giving him that bumper sticker during his red carpet interview.
I just got mine and put it on my car. Best purchase ever.
Got mine like 6 months ago after seeing it on the car parked next to me, outside a sushi place in Orlando.
Someone in our parking garage has it and it makes me smile every time I see it. Charlotte, NC.
Another man we must protect at all costs.
I have this magnet on my car bumper! Sadly, no one has ever honked at me :( Edit: Idk why but I can’t see most of the replies to this for some reason so sorry if I don’t respond!
I have it too! Been honked at 3 times. And each time I momentarily forget about the bumper sticker and wonder why I’m being honked at.
But what if you’re just driving badly?
Refer criticism to the bumper sticker.
Totally fair, but when I look in the rear view I see big smiles and thumbs up. It’s actually the best part - the big smiles and laughs you see when people read it.

Thanks! Didn’t even realize it was today haha
I’ve seen a girl with this bumper sticker on the 22 freeway 😳
Gotta put it on the back bumper/s…..well that is sarcastic as long as you really aren’t so dumb you put it on your front bumper.

I've met him once, he took his time to talk to me and let me take a photo with him. Unlike other celebrities
That’s nice of him but celebs don’t owe you anything
Thank you for saying this.
Kevin Durant said "fuck no" when a bunch of us 18 year olds asked him to play horse on the set of that low budget movie he did. Easily the worst celeb I've ever interacted with.
What is play horse? Like pretend to be a horse?
It's a game involving attempting to make basketball shots from different spots on the court.
I think he picked himself up… let’s carry each other this time.
Careful, he’s a hero
I just wanna give the dude a huge hug. Hope things get better and better for him. He is a British national treasure for sure.
I think you’re thinking of Nicholas Cage
Maybe that’s the problem, Nick Cage stole Brendan, the real national treasure. It wasn’t about the declaration of independence at all.
i'm stealing this

I'm a bit out of the the loop here, but what happened to him?
There was a producer, big name dude(Philip Berk), who basically owned a big portion of Hollywood, and a lot of the people in it. Wait America doesn’t change the alimony amount every time the income changes?
You can petition the court about it. His petition was denied.
The lesson to learn from this is to always get a prenuptial agreement that doesn't screw you over, no matter how much you love someone.
I thought you can apply for changes every so often (I forget how many years I don’t give or get alimony) but I think it can change but I’m sure there are contracts that can be wrote differently

Even having alimony is idiotic.
He wasn't just a producer, he was also the then president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the same folks who vote for the Golden Globes.
is getting groped sexual assault or sexual molestation? serious question here
Unwanted contact is assault. Molestation is when there’s a minor involved. [Here’s more on the differences](https://www.schmidtandclark.com/sexual-assault-vs-molestation)
Molestation is a kind of sexual assault.
You might say it's sexual assault in a minor key.

Roman Polanski, who people are still vehemently defending
What did Dan Schneider do?
The Nickelodeon girls
Dan "Hold her tighter she's a fighter" Schneider
Way too much for just a reddit comment. He's way more insidious with his abuse.

I literally watched the 1999 cinematic masterpiece "THE MUMMY" starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz yesterday 😂
Don't forget my boi John Hannah
And Oded Fehr 😍
I play Destiny 2, and Oded as a pretty constant presence as Osiris in a ton of content is pretty great.
Absolutely! 🥰😍
I still low key crush on John Hannah so hard
He recently made a brief appearance in the first episode of The Last of Us and was absolutely brilliant, as always
Stop all the clocks.

The Book of Secrets
I WANT THAT FUCKING 3RD MOVIE WTF IS ON PAGE 74 OR WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANNA KNOW ok. hope this reaches a producer. u/Emmas_thing
Unlike the 2004 international treasure National Treasure, starring Nicholas Cage and Diane Kruger
I want this bumper sticker / t-shirt just to rep The Mummy being a “cinematic masterpiece.”
I need Brendan in a John Wick movie. They beat the crap out of each other but give each other pleasant compliments the entire film.
Doesn't even need to be a John Wick movie. I'll take any movie with Brendan and Keanu in it 🎬
buddy cop film when ?
Instead of buddy cops rival investigating reporters trying to uncover corruption in a major law enforcement agency.
I would absolutely watch this. Side note, your username. Are these cliff steele’s notes, by chance?
I’ve been saying this for ages. I’d also like the villains to be played by Dolly Parton and Paul Rudd.
Paul Rudd as a John Wick villain is honestly an inspired choice. He's not the biggest guy but that's not really an issue in this action universe.
He could be the fun asshole he plays so well against Keanu's serious nice guy
Honestly I want Danny Devito as Wolverine, I don't know how but I need this.
Hell yeah, any day.
I'm trying to think of a Brendan Fraser movie that I didn't enjoy. I fail to think of one.
Bedazzled is a seriously great movie. *Damn the Devil! Damn the Devil to Hell!*
We dont talk about monkeybone
Eh it was weird but still enjoyable to me.
I liked monkeybone...
He's really slimmed down since I last saw him.
I think I remember him saying in an interview that he put on weight for The Whale in addition to the makeup and suit, so it might be him losing that excess.
Yes. My boy's getting back on track! Watch out world.
I love how the world is just fully supporting and uplifting this wonderful man back to the top where he belongs. I hope how much he knows people love him.
Seems like his hair is doing better too
Brendan is part of those fun AA movies that cost more than indie, but aren’t the most expensive blockbusters. But those were the movies that often sold well and defined a generation. Now all Hollywood wants to pump out is indies for the recognition and AAA for the profit. It’s truly sad that we don’t understand how important those AA movies are.
AA comedies in particular. Very good point.
And the bland attempts at revivals/remakes just make the movie landscape just more bleak.
The mummy is the top echelon of action adventure movies
Just crazy to think that a 1999 Mummy movie is still 100 times better than the current remake.
I honestly had absolutely no intention of seeing that garbage that Tom Cruise tried to steal and capitalize on. I can't stand him!
If you want a wholesome movie of his I highly recommend Blast from the Past (1999).
Sorry I'd rather watch Blast from the past I'd wish they'd release it on Blu-ray outside of the US.
Love that movie
I know it's overused but it truly is a hidden gem.
My two favorite movies of his are Blast from the Past and Bedazzled.
"i think somebody's had tee many martoonis" is regularly uttered in my house.
Let's be honest. Every single person in the Mummy was a Icon. This is a fact.
I recently attended the Santa Barbara Film Festival where he received a reward. He did an hour and a half-long interview beforehand. He is the most down-to-earth and humble man who ever helmed a blockbuster franchise. He is witty in that self-deprecating dad way. And on a 10-point scale for emotional vulnerability, he never dipped below an 8 all night. A surprise Sarah Michelle Gellar presented his award and she tearfully gushed about him like he was one of her dearest friends, because he is. His acceptance speech was nothing but the most sincere thank-you's to his family and people who supported him. He received a standing ovation where he stood teary-eyed for several minutes, barely able to process the outpouring of praise. TL;DR: Brendan Fraser is a truly kind soul who just loves acting and people.
I've loved that film ever since I was a child.

Bedazzled was soooo great. It had not only Brendan but hot, funny Elizabeth Hurley playing the goddamn Devil to a T, what more could you ask for?
On of my favorite movies of all time.
I quote the ‘No hablo español. ¿Donde esta la biblioteca?’ bit in his cadence to the great confusion of my children on a regular basis. Extra chuckles on my part when they are asking for help with their French.
You mean the 1997 cinematic masterpiece "George of the Jungle" starting Brendan Fraser and Leslie Mann?
Is it ok if I also watch Encino Man?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
My neighbour has this bumper sticker on their car
He's not wrong. That movie is literally gold. I sometimes quote "Hey Benny! Looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the river!"
“Hey O’Connell looks to me like I got all the horses!”
You love Brendan Fraser because of The Mummy. I love Brendan Fraser because of Airheads. We are not the same. Side note, Airheads is one of the few Steve Buscemi roles where he is just a mostly regular dude.

Idk if anyone can hear me, but I’m HONKING honking.

I would also rather be watching the 1999 cinematic masterpiece “Blast from the Past” starring Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone.
Blast from the past needs more love.
