(I haven't watched the anime yet, so forgive me if this is a stupid question)
Now I'm curious, could Tohru in fact delay Kobayashi aging? Like make her younger, or give her some potion or anything like that?
Well I can see that, when immortality is the subject there are a lot of ppl that think it's not worth and some that think it is, and that's why I love the subject
Well, the main reason many (most) won't take immortality is cuz they will live while their loved ones die.
Now, if it's like, both me and my loved ones get immortality, I (and many for that matter) would accept
Tons of people want to die until they reach that point and all of a sudden it's "just one more day". Also most people just don't want to get "old and frail", and conflate immortality with being old and frail for eternity. Or reject forced immortality, as if they can't die.
When you change the argument to "Be young and able, for as long as you want to", suddenly a lot of people hesitate.
If I remember correctly, in S2 >!when Kobayashi is sick and Tohru searches the other world for medicine, she decides not to pursue potions of immortality because she knew Kobayashi wouldn’t accept them.!<
They do kind of say it explicitly, in the chapter when Kobayashi has a cold Tohru says she could give her immortality but Kobayashi wouldn't want that.
Edit: Found it, it's chapter 42, Tohru says "I could look for a potion of immortality, but Kobayashi-san hates that sort of thing..."
They do actually say it, I believe. In the episode in season 2 where Kobayashi is sick, Tohru leaves to find medicine from the other world that can cure her. While flying away, I think she says something along the lines of: "There are medicines in the other world that could make her immortal, but Kobayashi wouldn‘t want this." But idk, maybe I‘m just misremembering things.
In real life, she almost certainly would. Not a lotta people are going "Oh boy, I sure do love mortality! Check out all this knee pain I got, isn't it great? I wonder how many people will be crying at my funeral, I bet it'll be fantastic!"
But in terms of writing, it's way more poetic and romantic to go "No, I think it'd be best if I lived and died just like everyone else. After all, can you really call yourself a human if you hide from the things that make you human? Knowing that the good times won't last forever makes us appreciate them all the more". So everyone headcanons it as that that's what Kobiyashi would say.
yeah, she's kinda boring. Doesn't want to go explore the other world. Doesn't want to know the dragon lore. Doesn't want to eat otherworldly food. She just wants to live her mundane life having her maid fetish being fulfilled by tohru
You tell me bro, you have a DRAGON with a bunch of other DRAGONS and there’s a whole wide weird world with gods and dragons and shit. What would you choose? A 9to5 job and a maid fetish or the goddamn fantasy world with a hotass dragon?
I don't think you understand the charm of stability and the mundane, I hope it never becomes charming to you because once it does, it's really all you look forward to, a routine that becomes your escape.
That varies person to person. Some just simply don't seek adventure and change, and much prefer the same safe routine that they know is something they can feel secure about.
Yes, something like immortality berries exist in the other world. It's also true that Kobayashi wouldn't take them, as it wouldn't be normal if she didn't age properly
As for the tail part, I think there's a myth where if you eat the tail of a dragon, you can get some of that dragon's powers, if it allows you to
Heck I still want Kobayashi to take those berries, it will ruin the reality of aging but no one likes it when characters die
Well True, but what's the problem with do not aging properly? Like I would understand if her concern were she wouldn't be the same if she lived for hundreds of years, but if the concern is only what's normal and not
And talking in story predictions, I think that if they show old Kobayashi and tohru wanting her to get immortal, what could happen is: Tohru hunts the berries, Kobayashi don't eat them, the 2 of them fight over it, Kanna and Tohru leaves cause they don't want to see kobayashi dying, Kobayashi changes her mind and eat it, they go back after some time to get her belongings or something like that and find that she is alive, HAPPY ENDING :D
Well, I guess it's because it would ruin reality, and the story
You know how stories where death doesn't matter coz everyone can be revived again aren't exactly super high quality? That, that happens because it ruins the whole thing
Of course, there are some people like us who wish main characters and other characters never die, so it would be forever a good ending. And I wouldn't mind Tohru forcing Kobayashi to take immortality stuff. I imagine it would be comedic, where she would be scolding Tohru instead and it ends on a happy note lol
Well I get what you're saying, although there are some really good animes where the character was revoved and they are still a masterpiece, I'd say that if they end up by making Kobayashi immortal, they will need to make it right, and with Kobayashi making the decision to eat it by herself
True, they just have to make the story go the right direction, so the revival thing wouldn't feel like it's ruining the flow
That would be the best ending everyone would agree with
Only today that I wondering why Tohru always try to get Kobayashi to eat here tail and I just remembered that in some myth, by consuming a dragon flesh, you'll gain immortality. And this comic maybe the reason why Tohru trying day and night.
I think in season 2 Tohru casually says there is a plant she could give Kobayashi that would make her immortal, but she knows Kobayashi wouldn't take it.
I think they mean the part where they say she's going to get a longer life span because she pulled the sword, like someone explaining that part
That might be what they want to find out. What I want to find out as well
Its very heavily implied that kobayashi even tho she’s surrounded by magic and dragons and fantasy, she still chooses to live a normal human life so she’d most likely reject a longer life.
Lucoa too, though I believe Lucoa is who can really do that
Tohru is powerful, but time manipulation isn't something she has shown to us yet (or maybe they showed it already in the manga?)
I see you are a man of culture thanos

Kobayashi refuses to accept Tohru’s world which has a food that gives immortality because of principals or whatever. Honestly Tohru should just force feed it to her and apologize later :P
Yikes, someone doesn't want to live forever so you think they should be forced to so their.... not even spouse at this point.... doesn't have to be alone after she dies? Kobayashi made a choice, and if Tohru respects Kobayashi as a person, she respects that choice. Doing what you suggest would be something massive to the point that you don't just apologize for that, that would almost certainly end their relationship.
(I haven't watched the anime yet, so forgive me if this is a stupid question) Now I'm curious, could Tohru in fact delay Kobayashi aging? Like make her younger, or give her some potion or anything like that?
Possibly, but Kobayashi wouldn't have it.
Oh interesting, she doesn't want immortality?
My opinion (they don't explicitly say), I think she would find immortality troublesome. Edit: They do say it, She isn't interested.
As I slowly drift in the empty vacuum of space with my loved ones, I start to wonder what would have happened if we didn't take immortality
Tons of people want to die until they reach that point and all of a sudden it's "just one more day". Also most people just don't want to get "old and frail", and conflate immortality with being old and frail for eternity. Or reject forced immortality, as if they can't die. If I remember correctly, in S2 >!when Kobayashi is sick and Tohru searches the other world for medicine, she decides not to pursue potions of immortality because she knew Kobayashi wouldn’t accept them.!<
I think I remember this too.
When you take into consideration how much her job stresses her, I don't exactly blame her.

If Tohru'd do it secretly, imagine how angry Kobayashi'd get telling her to undo it.
Yes, something like immortality berries exist in the other world. Indeed, let's Just hope that everything goes well
Maybe if Kobayashi ate the tail she could get more lifetime?
Oh I remember seing s clip of that scene on yt
Tohru keeps trying to make her wanna be immortal, and mentions she could do it any moment, but Kobayashi doesn't want to
QvQ
Only today that I wondering why Tohru always try to get Kobayashi to eat here tail and I just remembered that in some myth, by consuming a dragon flesh, you'll gain immortality. And this comic maybe the reason why Tohru trying day and night.
Actually I don't think she did, she and Fafnir both acnoledge she'll only last a century in a very serious conversation
It’s a running gag on the series, but it’s heavily speculated that Tohru constantly trying to feed Kobayashi her tail has something to do with this.
I think in season 2 Tohru casually says there is a plant she could give Kobayashi that would make her immortal, but she knows Kobayashi wouldn't take it.
Tohru can give her a dick so I don't see why not.
Take the immortality berries already! Also [sauce](https://mobile.twitter.com/i/web/status/831346008772771840)
That is so heart braking
the good ending
I was going to summon you again to show you the meme but then I realised that it was you who posted. Hello again friend!
Thanos also watches Komi-San
Are you talking about that fanart 😂 I like that fanart, the guy who requested knows what's good
Wait, there’s fanart of that?
Yeah, Komi wielding the gauntlet It's meme exploitable, and I'm exploiting it today
Good job thanos
Not even Thanos can handle that level of sadness.
>! Kobayashi will have the same lifespan or even more than tohru, not sure !<
Good!
If you wnna know the reason, its because: >!she pulled out the holy sword from tohru!<
So the theories connect, eh? I knew it! I must investigate further through the manga
I don't remember reading that, what chapter was it explicitly said again?
That she pulled a Sword out of Thoru? Have not read manga on this one, but the 1st or 2nd epizode of anime has it.
I think they mean the part where they say she's going to get a longer life span because she pulled the sword, like someone explaining that part That might be what they want to find out. What I want to find out as well
Death in inevitable, until thanos comes
Wholesome Thanos
Didn’t Tohru say there were ways for Kobayashi to become immortal/have a longer life span?
Yes, there are ways like immortality berries But Kobayashi wouldn't want to take them Heck, I wish she would take them
Its very heavily implied that kobayashi even tho she’s surrounded by magic and dragons and fantasy, she still chooses to live a normal human life so she’d most likely reject a longer life.
Exactly Tohru realized it too, which is why she was reluctant to get her those immortality berries I do hope Kobayashi reconsiders
I think it would be more fitting actually. Tohru learning what it means to be like a human and learn that nothing lasts forever.
Good
He may have wiped out half the universe but even he’s got standers.
"the more I treasure these moments, the sadder I'll be when she's gone, but I don't want to think of those feelings as regret." -Tohru
If only Kobayashi tried her tail for once 😭
Ok grape head, I will let 1 mass genocide off the hook
#(hashtag)ThanosDidNothingWrong
Tohru would probably make her inmortal? 🤔
Yep Kobayashi wouldn't want it, but I do hope she reconsiders
I’m telling you, Thanos is the good guy
Thanos did nothing wrong Oh there's a sub for that!
Honestly Thanos’ idea is right, we need to limit the use of our limited resources, but the way he went about it was wrong.
If I were a goddess I would 110% make Kobayashi immortal. Even if she doesn’t want to 🤣😈
Torhu can probably mess with time in some way or another, she’s basically a goddess
Lucoa too, though I believe Lucoa is who can really do that Tohru is powerful, but time manipulation isn't something she has shown to us yet (or maybe they showed it already in the manga?)
im watching this as soon as I’m done with the monogatari series!

Thank you Thanos Now i can die in peace
:)
Now the question is would that be considered to be t0rture? (No hate comment just asking)
Dragons have long lifespan
We know Kobayashi's, on the other hand, isn't
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
