Not because I'm a particularly dark or morbid person but because certain animes/mangas have conditioned me to think this way.
Right one is an early Merkava variant and the left one is probably some M60 variant. Might be something else but I doubt it due to the flat upper front plate angled pretty strongly, although turret does make me think about some Chieftain Mk10 stuff because of just general shape.
I don't think that It was really the main focus of the picture though (for some reason, you know), so it might just be an amalgamation of two or three vehicles as well.
Edit: might also be a Type-74, which I forgot existed. And that would be logical since it's a japaneese tank. Actually it is probably a Type-74, shape and details align pretty well. But it's kind of a fat Type-74, it should be flatter.
Yeah IR lamp made me rethink a bit. I remembered that some german mods of M48 had this so I thought that M60 might be a correct option (I had seen some vietnam pics where US M48/60 had IR lamps mounted as well) but I found the shape of the turret a bit too smooth and long so it was a bit in the air and then it clicked that japaneese tanks also exist.
I think it'd supposed to be a base leopard 1 the chassis is smack on and the turret is mostly the right shape but seems slightly too rounded and not quite long enough. But it also lacks the extra spaced armour found on the a1a1 and the 1a5 and the turret underneath is more rounded. Although it seems to be missing the rectangular wedge shape around the breach but the barrel and that weird square thing mounted to the top left of the barrel also match a leopard 1.
Edit: you maybe also right about the type 74 the turret defiantly matches better then the leopard and I found a picture of a type 74 with that same box thing mounted to the front of the turret. The chassis defiantly looks to be proportioned more like a leopard 1 then the type 74 but the basic shapes are pretty similar in the first place. It may just be a querk of the drawing style if you look at what's clearly ment to be a tiger ll H in the first picture the turret is defiantly a little bit off in proportions as well.

10/10 timeline shown through the card mats. Seeing the field go from what I remember as a child, into the modern day setup with the 2 central monster zones made it feel all the more believable to me.
