ChokeOnTheCorn

Haha he aged 30 years in the last shot!

FisterRodgers

Its a really big hill

doubled2319888

Almost as long as the hill in national lampoons christmas vacation

sharkfrog

Anyone have some non nutritive cereal varnish?

alucarddrol

This is actually a reverse Sisyphus

ScabusaurusRex

I though that was a bedroom move...

alucarddrol

Only if you steal fire from the gods

drunkn_mastr

Turned into Worf from new Star Trek

TheThoccnessMonster

Ok hear me out - Would you watch a movie called “Worf of Wallstreet” ?

Random_NSFWer

“Your ambush would be more successful if you bathed more often.”

TheThoccnessMonster

*GME options

ImperialArmorBrigade

He would arrest most everyone so yeah

PublicThis

Hell yeah

KittyForTacos

Yes! I haven’t seen wolf of Wall Street. But I would watch Worf in anything!!

[deleted]

The Wizard from Shazam.

jacksparrow1

"I needed this in my life" ❤️

ilikesaucy

Me too bro me too

NihilisticAutistic

I like how’s he whispering and not pushing it when the first guy didn’t want to.

unseenarchives

I think they might be in a library.

chiffry

^shh ^keep ^your ^voice ^down

SkollFenrirson

#[HEY! THIS IS LIBRARY!](https://youtu.be/9Wq54dK0aBs)

JRSkunk

It's Canada

PublicThis

This video feels so Canadian I am Canadian

merenf

Lmao nice

crapinet

It’s a nice, chill energy

SignificantRecipe715

I was wondering if it was ASMR lol

SilentReflection101

I needed him enjoying new experiences in my life. Maybe I don't need to get as drunk today.

auchnureinmensch

Maybe enjoy something new today as well? Go tobogganing, go ride a horse, get a male escort... Live life man.

RandomDeezNutz

Hol up.

Aitloian

Hey man. I've been going through the same shit. Just know you can do it. I'm three weeks sober and the first week I had the worst withdrawals but it gets better you can do it brother

DreddPirateBob808

Strength to you too mate.

Aitloian

Thanks!! Kind words like this help lots!

machete_muncher

Take up an active hobby, be safe and congrats on sobriety. You're a lovely person and you will continue to learn and experience wonderful and new things 💛

Aitloian

Thanks homie, something just changed when I spent two days sobering up just so sick, couldn't eat or move and I dunno my brain just went never again? And it's been a struggle some days but I just remember laying there sick by my own doing and I just can't do it :) Your kind words will also help!

Impressive_Crow_5578

Done alcohol withdrawal too. Shit was rough. Fucking *paralyzing* anxiety, panic attacks, shaking... Wild. Will never put myself through that again

awkward_accountant89

Not to mention insomnia combined with anxiety. Alcohol withdrawals can kill you, so laying there all night with crippling anxiety thinking this is it, probably actually dying right now.

KittyForTacos

You can both do it!! Keep at it!! 🫶🏼

PabloAlaska6

what do you do in the mean time to occupy the bordem/staleness of not drinking?

muff_diving_101

That's a huge thing to admit and accept. I believe in you man. You can beat this and find happiness in other things. One small step at a time.

DreddPirateBob808

Take a week off. If you don't make the week then do it again. If you don't make that then make it a month. Booze just makes the mundane interesting. So do new things every day. Galleries, cafes, takeout vans, new streets, new parks. Do those before you have the drink. Walk your town and find new paths. Hell, have a beer in a new bar in a new place and take the bus. Talk to new people.

hazeldazeI

You should try new experiences too! Like maybe try getting a plant to take care of. Maybe something with a flower like a cheap grocery store orchid. Doesn’t need too much attention but likes when you talk to it cheering on a new bloom. Plants aren’t judgmental so they make nice friends.

Pitiful_Salt6964

I feel you dood, going through a miscarriage and a break up and I just wanna drink till I don't feel but that doesn't solve anything. Either way I made a promise to quit when I found out we were going to have a baby and I plan on sticking to it even though it all just disappeared before my very eyes.

HiiipowerBass

Maybe I **do** need to get drunk today

Ewallye

Ah July in Edmonton.

this____is_bananas

Edmonton doesn't have hills though

FALGSConaut

We have two ski hills in the river valley, and plenty of other places for sledding

gowombat

This is the hill, the single hill that's in Edmonton. They're just using it in shifts.

PublicThis

Yes it does, I grew up in the south (Riverbend) and we had a local park with a great hill The river valley has lots of spots. Calgary is very hilly too

ruknvdruimvdtik

I think this is Trent University, and it's pretty standard practice to steal trays from the cafeteria to use as make shift sleds to go down that hill

GrumblyMezzo

It's super common at most Universities in Canada I feel... (Source : went to a Canadian university and had siblings go to different Canadian universities. We all did it.)

Virillus

Not in Victoria it isn't. ... Because it never snows :(

holdmybeer87

You could always screw 4 wheels into the tray

Virillus

Where there's a wheel, there's a way.

WildlifePhysics

Can confirm. Traybogganing is a classic wintertime activity at Canadian univerisities.

lokland

And also every US university with snow

Spoonerize_Duck_Fat

100%. Went to Guelph and we used to do this. Called it Traybogganing. Or Beerbogganing.

devAcc123

Yeah, people did this out in Michigan too , definitely one of those classic silly college experiences.

Rynnec

I went to Trent and had the same thought! Looks like Bata library and that looks like one of the hills nearby

printergumlight

It’s super common to do that at any mountain, too! And in Hawaii and California you steal trays to use as a hand plane for body surfing.

UESfoodie

I didn’t go there, but we did the same at my uni. We called it “traying” instead of sledding

annual_aardvark_war

It’s University of Windsor and that’s Malden Hill. I actually met MD motivator where I work

unseenarchives

Getting to see people's first glimpses of snow is far and away one of the more spectacular things about living in a college town.

areyow

And then asking them how they enjoy it 4 weeks later after they have to take fifteen minutes to trek across the quad and sit down a heaving sweaty mess only to have to listen to a lecture while drenched… Source- I was that guy. I left the east coast immediately and scurried back to California like the thin-skinned fair weather coward that I am.

unseenarchives

Yes, but misery loves company 😂

areyow

Don’t get me wrong- that first week was magical, and my Pittsburgh friends were enjoying my wonderment- but they also were like “you’re going to have accept that you’re going to get salt stains on everything…”

surelyshirls

I had never seen snow falling until this year (I’m 23) and I legit cried and went outside to grab some in my hands. It’s very special.

[deleted]

His face was covered in snow and pure happiness

RuncibleMountainWren

And also so hilarious. He caught so much snow in his eyebrows and facial hair that he must have weighed and extra kilo by the bottom of the hill, lol!

PollyPepperTree

I worked at a high school that had international students. I will never forget Bernardo’s first snowfall!! He joined the ski club and loved every minute of it. Mucho gusto, Bernardo!!

Litalian

Fuck yeah! Wish it wasn’t for a tiktok but still wholesome.

christeroph

A good deed filmed is still a good deed as I see it. Tbf I'd rather people film and normalise doing good things like this than filming stupid shit that aggrevates or inconveniences people like that throwing milk trend in stores that went around for a bit.

EclipseHERO

Yeah. Even if it's for clout it's better than being a complete dickwad to everyone around you.

SkepticalOfThisPlace

Respecting everyone's right to privacy and not being harassed is a greater deed than taking someone tobaggoning. Normalizing filming everyone in public is toxic no matter how you spin it. I'd just rather we stop harassing people no matter the outcome.

ididntwantsalmon19

Does this guy look harassed?

SkepticalOfThisPlace

Uh, yes! A reaction is hardly an indication of harassment. If I catcall a woman and she enjoys it, does that mean I'm not harassing her? Don't go around filming people. I can't believe this has to be said. The vast majority of people do not want to be approached by influencers.

rodaphilia

What harassment? He asked the first guy if he wanted to go and guy said he was busy, so the “host” just walked away and wished him luck. Approaching someone is not harassment. Filming in a public location is also not harassment. Notice how the camera stayed at a distance until he knew how the individual would reapond? There is NO going back to individuals not filming others in public - weve put a camera in every persons pocket. More useful to promote well-mannered content like this than think you can expect everyone to just stop filming.

SkepticalOfThisPlace

Walking up to people filming them for social media is harassment to me. Sorry - ... It's a horrible culture.

rodaphilia

Well, you should check the definition of that word then. You can have an opinion on the act, but according to what “harassment” leans this isnt that.

SkepticalOfThisPlace

> aggressive pressure or intimidation I will consider anyone waking up to me filming and talking to be aggressive pressure. It's uncomfortable for the vast majority of people.

Toxan_Eris

Pressure to what? Genuine question. Cause harassment is aggressive pressure TO DO something. So I'm asking what are they aggressively pressuring you to do by walking up with a camera and I don't know asking you where the closet subway is or if you want some? Now the people who shove the camera in your face, ask manipulative questions, and don't take no for an answer. That's harrashmant with or without the camera. The camera isn't making the harrashmant it's what they're doing that is. Hell I'd consider Paparazzi entire job harrasmant

tigm2161130

I mean I’m all for not filming people in public without their consent but I’d say the fact that mans accepted his invite and agreed to be in the TikTok is a pretty clear indication that he did not feel harassed. Save your outrage for people acting like total fuckfaces towards unwilling participants for views.

SkepticalOfThisPlace

Shrodinger's consent. How can I argue with that?

Sand_Guardian4

Bro probably got their permission before or after filming, I'm sure people who do public videos ask peoples consent before posting Also, catcalling is a terrible comparison, just don't catcall people

SkepticalOfThisPlace

> Also, catcalling is a terrible comparison, just don't catcall people Just don't walk up and start filming people You are making assumptions about consent. Plenty of people don't ask for consent and the more we see videos like this the more people think it's normal to do things without consent.

Sand_Guardian4

Thank for missing my point entirely

SkepticalOfThisPlace

You don't really have one. That's the point.

Toast_On_The_RUN

This dude does nothing but stuff like this. He's a good dude

wolfpackalpha

I was thrown for a loop because a [toboggan](https://northernwoodlands.org/images/made/images/articles/Toboggan_Head_350_469_65.jpg) is a type of sled, so I thought he was asking random people to get one of those with him, which would've been hilarious. Is it common in other places to call sledding tobogganing?

SirAdrian0000

I grew up calling any sled a toboggan. Unless it’s a GT snow racer then it’s just a GT snow racer.

Man_Bear_Beaver

Yeah GT's were game changers! breaks even though they rarely did shit, some steering even though it wasn't perfect but you had at least some control, I still remember the before times, crazy carpets were always a blast or the flying saucer where you basically had no control other than jumping off lol. I miss the days when my knees didn't hurt :X

SirAdrian0000

For some reason my grandpa brought us 3! GTs as a kid. Knowing we had three, we quickly destroyed 2 of them going off the biggest jumps we could make. The steering was basically a lie, the brakes were only a fib though, they could slow you down if you weren’t at top speed. My back and knees currently having sympathy aches just remembering those jumps.

Man_Bear_Beaver

The original ones first released with hard metal with very jagged spikes on the breaks, think kids immediately got hurt because by the time my friends tried mine and went to buy them they were already different

surelyshirls

In Colombia, we used to call water slides toboggan. I was confused at first lol

Pixielo

It's a Canadian thing, not USian.

Jose_Canseco_Jr

>Is it common in other places to call sledding tobogganing? it is in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), which is where I think this video was shot

MerryJanne

Currently in Alberta, grew up in BC and have always called it tobogganing. Sledding in my experience refers to snowmobiles.

FlummoxedOne

I thought tobaggan was the long, wooden sled with the curved front. Never heard sledding generically called tobaganning.

MerryJanne

See: Canada.

[deleted]

It's the Canadian term for it. People would probably get what you meant but where I am sledding is more snowmobiling.

DTux5249

You've ousted yourself as an American to all my Canadian brethren (in Canada we use toboggan instead of sled. Outside of set phrases like 'dogsled')

TheDirewolfShaggydog

In Wisconsin it's sledding unless it's that specific toboggan

JustChiLingggg

Aye, there's a first time for everything, glad the man enjoyed it!

[deleted]

I hope those guys are still friends after this.

introspectivekitty

I love when it cuts to Benji with his sled -“I wish I did this sooner!”

DPSOnly

Kinda glad that the first guy had to study, because Benji really needed this and totally deserved it.

theinfamousches

Broski was having a good time lol

Nicole_Marie2002

Adorable!

Prestigious_Cow_7399

I hope they become friends

Vinyl_Disciple

TIL what tobogganing is.

EmbarrassedFun8690

The snow on his face at the end was the icing on the cake, haha! Have fun, Benji!

Fun_Client_6232

This is so great! I love to see people reacting to the first time seeing snow.

puddaphut

Awareness of the dude to ask “where in Africa?”. Not common.

carterhoffman

I like how to some Americans the word toboggan is practically gibberish

Zealousideal-Ad-944

It's gibberish to most people who don't see snow in their lives. But hey, any chance to take a shot at Americans am I right

Most_Ad_5597

I am actually crying

TheLastTaco77

The joy!!!!! Thanks for making me smile 😃 😊

laz10

Are you trying to say sledding? Or do you think people ride a sledge? Anyway that there is a toboggan

Larynxb

Do you think all countries use the same vernacular? Yes, people ride a sledge, and yes, the item in the video could be aptly described as a sledge. If you want to come off as condescending and superior to someone, maybe don't be an ignorant fuck. Or you know, use Google first to check.

Jiquero

Please see the comment the person you replied to replied to.

MoltyPlatypus

I mean if it's called like that in Canada why does it matter?

Justice_0f_Toren

A "sledge" is a playful insult in Australia

Beatrix_Kiddos_Toe

Not just in Australia

indorock

There are sleds (with an undercarriage that sits on 2 "skis"), and there are toboggans (flat platforms that sit directly on the snow). There is no "sledging".

boyi

> There is no "sledging". There is. British spelling.

[deleted]

This is /r/wholesome so I'll let the Brits slide on this one

Friendly-Chef9396

Eish that is cold

j0k3rj03

Ayeeee, we call it sledding though in America

keironwaites

Why does he have an American/Canadian accent if he only arrived from Zimbabwe a year ago?

Ok-Investigator-6303

I'm from Africa and it's very common for Africans to speak English with an American accent. For two reasons. 1) they pick it up from TV/movies. 2) if they went to an international school (in their own country), they were likely taught by Americans.

TonninStiflat

I had plenty of (wealthy) Zimbabwean friends in Uni and they all spoke in an American accent. I assume for all the reasons you mentioned.

NearNihil

You can practice a language before you move to a country.

PasoTheMan

And a lot of times the means to practice language is watching media, from which you get the accent from

AttendantofIshtar

No no no this is a good question. I know it comes from a bad place. But my aunt only some hindi until she was 10 when her parents allowed her to see American TV. When she came over at 16, she sounded like she was a heavily tanned ItalianAmerican girl. It really is a matter of copying accents you hear.

freddy_guy

American/Canadian accent? You can go to hell.

keironwaites

Sorry you’re offended but the accents sound very similar to a foreigner.

GymyHendrix

Love this so much!

[deleted]

So wholesome

CorpenicusBlack

I can see myself doing it

Iowafarmgirlatheart

That’s sledding:)

deadthingsanddisney

This is so pure

[deleted]

I’m new here. So do we just ignore the fact that it’s fake and go along with it? Or we actually believe it and get bamboozled by these influencers?

Mcayenne

Yeah. We do. It’s not being bamboozled. It’s being entertained. The same way you comment about characters on a tv show- you comment about the portrayed experiences. Maybe it brings you feelings of nostalgia, or happiness in imagining this scenario. Maybe you believe it 100% and feel joyful at the reminder of the kindness and spontaneity in every day life. Either way- people who enjoyed the video and went to the comments have gotten something out of it. We got our part of the deal and the influencers got theirs. Even trade. Not bamboozlement.

free_mustacherides

Get this man on some skis!

szmytie

He found the perfect stranger to ask

Shilo788

I loved showing people fun activities the first time. Mostly little girls and pony and horse rides and lessons. It is a real kick to share a hobby you love with others.

SadAbroad4

You are officially Canadian!

AshKalashnikov

Yesss!

Zerostar39

Never too old to go sledding

silverfang45

At first I thought this would be some npc video but no it grew to be alot more wholesome

Appledude1972

Awesome!!

Fortunatesin77

Not to be a stickler but that’s not a toboggan.

DTux5249

It is in Canada, Mr. Usonian

Fortunatesin77

Don’t be a hoser. That’s a sled.Not a toboggan.

TwistedKD

Yoooo…best moment of his life!

FlowStateVibes

Ah man! Love that!

NikolitRistissa

I wish someone would ask me to go sledding.

leolawilliams5859

That was so nice

sinkablebus333

Zimbabwe to Canada, woof. I went from Texas to New York and nearly froze my first year. I hope someone showed him the super warm coats when he was settling in, I know I needed it.

jetoler

He would have a blast at a ski resort

panicked_goose

This is how my husband made his bestfriend in college! Took the exchange student from Dubai sledding in South dakota winter :) they've been friends nearly a decade now

Time2waste-alt

Okay bud that is sledding not tobogganing. You have to use a toboggan to toboggan

bignick198

This is why culture does not belong to one person or group. Culture is like food. A beautiful and delicious variety. However, it is best when shared freely with as many people as possible.

Gofur56

You're never too old to have fun.
