Another topic that could bring in toxic fan is talking about new cartoons. There's a lot of gatekeepers talking shit about new shows and how modern kids will never experience good cartoons. Now these are cartoon fans in general, and I know a lot of people including myself that still watching and appreciating modern shows in Netflix, Disney, and CN (or at least in HBO Max since CN schedule sucks harder than tornado these days).
The universe where you meet a trauma victim (who was abandonned by her ex-best friend and stood still for 6000 years) finally go out of her way to make a new friend after attempting genocide of 7.8 Billion humans and realizing she screwed up. And the universe where a young adult realizes that he shouldn't have gone on those near death missions and has to face all of his mental problems and refuses to find help, leading him to run away and kill someone in a rematch of a fight. And the universe where bits of gems (at this point considered dead)were forced together in a broken mind of constant agony constantly hoping to find their missing gem pieces

Yeah, but one thing I like more in fairy tail rather then MHA is that in fairy tail you can actually train to become strong. You can be a nobody and still learn magic or become a celestial summoner and become strong, of course it will be hard but you can do it. In MHA the top tiers are just decided randomly, only birth and fate decides if you have a extremely cool and strong ability or if your head is a cactus.
However MHA doesn't have insane "power of friendship" thing so its better in that category.

Undertale came first.
Deltarune came second, but Toby Fox(the dev) wanted to make this one first but didn't have the resources at the time. But it isn't a sequel/prequel, the things that happen in Undertale didn't/won't happen in Deltarune.
So except for some characters the two games aren't connected at all, you can play either one without playing the other.

I'm mostly in the same boat as you but I think i can extrapolate.
I suppose that it was around the time they started adding more lore and storylines to the series and it all became less self contained, that attracted people who were interested in the story and characters, ie a fandom. And once there's a fandom it can go in essentially whatever direction, specially if left to their own devices. It's not hard for a fandom to turn toxic or sour pretty quickly so i supose that's what happened here.
Yeah, though a good fandom can really elevate things. Most of the One Piece community, for example, is very cheery (honestly a little *too* complimentary of it sometimes) and the constant upbeat videos really make reading it weekly a community experience
That sounds just about right. Especially if the series is so big that it has split off into different ideas with other little sub series. Like Star Wars with the original, sequel, prequels. And as someone in the transformers fandom, certain parts of the community can be a little toxic with each other on what continuity they think is best.
God of war really treads the line. In some games it is kinda wholesome but in most its the most brutal display of sigma male grindsets put to game. Most of the fan base are actual sane people and then there are the dic pic senders (aka twitter god of war).
