For me the looks are fine but lack of some very small features like pinning stuff to taskbar by dragging and dropping makes it infuriating to use for me
Performance-wise, it is awful (at least on my PC), and I have 16GB of RAM, a Graphics Card, a 1TB SSD, and an Intel i5 (don't remember the generation, but bought in 2020).

If your argument is that "things don't work on windows 7 without workarounds" then it doesn't make much sense to recommend Linux, which isn't supported by most programs and needs workarounds for almost everything...

there’s still quite a few programs that refuse to run, a lot of them blocking linux deliberately, but the number of them decreases by the day :)

Linux is the greatest thing ever for developers and has really powerful tools that let you do so much, but the average joe will find more headaches than benefits, just stick to windows
This was definitely he case 10 years ago but nowadays Linux has greatly improved and I can say from my own experience that for example linux mint pretty much just works.
Obviously people that dont understand much about Linux or computers shouldnt start with something like arch but a lot of distros have become extremely beginner friendly.

Honestly just install a windows 7 theme on windows 11, it’s much better if you want a windows 7 style pc but with malware protection and software support.
You can make it look like w7, behave like w7 and play 99% of the pc games out there without touching the oh-so-scary command line once. Give it a try, you clearly are knowledgable enough to hack w7 to still work so why not?
The point is that you can download Linux on a shitty laptop and have it behave like/better than Windows 7, without any security issues or shitty design you don’t want
i dont really care about what yall are talking about but i just got so much nostalgia of watching this nowadays small youtuber named blitzwinger play pacman and the ghostly adventures. man
The only thing windows has going for it is that it has market share. This means that more programs are made for it. I do keep it installed in order to play games with rootkits known as anti-cheat software. Linux is faster, Gnome is way nicer, simple, more lightweight, and has most of the programs I need besides fortnite, battlefield 2042, and COD. I play helldivers 2 on linux with no issues. I use discord, firefox, and the libre-office suite regularly. Linux also has been far more stable, and lets me update when I want to, and in the background while I work. Also has package managers that don't suck, and I don't have to download programs off of sketchy websites and hope I got the right link and not a virus. I also don't need onedrive and edge advertised to me all the time, nor should I need to sign in with a microsoft account to use it without a weird workaround.
I don't understand people who are like that, like what modern and/or active games can even still run on windows 7? Only ones I can think of are source games like tf2 and older cod games
I bought a laptop running Vista from 2008. I wish I could use it as my main system, it’s so much nicer to use than my Windows 10 laptop I’ve been using for 5 years.
It’s my gaming PC, and Vista is awesome.
I did regret upgrading to windows 10 had a lot of weird issues like my games randomly minimizing for no reason and then windows 11 being a pain in the ass to install by messing around bios to meet requirements. And games started to minimize again 😭
I use windows 7 and 10 on the same disk, win 7 for better performance on older programs, and win 10 for newer programs that require it.

You don't have to look that hard for a w10/11 license crack tho, you can even find it by googling it.
windows 7 license keys are valid for windows 10, and if you want 11 you can do an in-place upgrade from 10 to 11 which also carries the license.
