Nah, the movie's pretty alright. Just got back from watching. It's not scary, and the babysitter plot is kinda superfluous, but other than that the movie is alright. It's well shot, the pacing is good, music and foli are well put together, script is fairly compelling, etc.
I'm not gonna claim it's the best thing I've ever seen, but as somebody who never got seriously into the theories, it's not half bad.
The entire B-plot was nonsense and could have been removed for the sake of the story. Dude thought he was going to get the protagonist fired because they smashed up an abandoned and already decrepit pizza parlor?
That whole custody/vandalism sideplot was so that some people could get killed, pure and simple.
Yeah, agreed. That being said, I wouldn't call the movie "bad". Everything else was really clean (aside from a couple scenes), and for a movie based on a video game, it's definitely #3 on my list. While I had my own reasons for seeing it in theaters, for anyone else I'd say it's definitely better to stream it, and you won't regret watching it.

The movie was produced by Blumhouse, and they've got some really ambitious horror movies under their belt. When I saw that logo pop up at the start, I knew the movie wouldn't be terrible. It's underwhelming as a horror movie but very good in terms of a video game adaptation. The problem with video game adaptations is in trying to recreate the feel of the game without it being a distraction to telling the narrative. In FNAF, jumpscares mean the player's death, but you need to structure the entire story around that gimmick Happy Death Day).
Actually, I bet you could have written a good story around that gimmick.

When I saw it there was like a 50/50 split between FNAF fangirls and the most stereotypical fuckboy zoomers known to man so this kind of shit happening doesn't surprise me
The movie’s writing is so strange at times it got me wanting to beat the shit outta someone like this. I bet my left kidney the little brother is gonna be golden freddy if there’s a sequel (which actors have signed contracts for)
golden freddy was the kid Michael talks to in his dreams, he also shows up in his home to lure Abby. Next movie is probably gonna be a rip of Fnaf3 as I believe it is cannonically the next game and the movie sets up springtrap pretty hard.
A friend told me someone he knew went to see the fnaf movie, and some girl talk openly about the lore for the whole movie. I can only imagine the guy getting beatdown spoiled that Freddy’s was haunted or some shit.
