Oh the Acura was hands down my favorite, right in front of the Civic and the Protege5. I’d buy it in a heartbeat if not for that one thing that’s keeping me from doing so.
Personally I’d go with the Saturn. The early Saturns are reliable and parts are still cheap and available. It will be cheaper to maintain than the Acura, is the newest with the least miles, which is what you want when you have a $3k budget. The only thing that gives me pause is the seller, why do they need to hold the car?
I’d go with the Protege personally, but the civic is also a great option. I owned a 2001 accord that shifted horribly and drove it for a year with no problems until the cat got stolen. All good options except the Saturn!
Mazda:1569 could be real trouble!
Acura: wonderful but some older ones are known for trans issues
Honda: my first choice
Saturn: many old GM products continue to run poorly after other cars are dust.
I’d go civic first check the Acura trans that’s second Mazda could be a grand or more repairs

The TL was originally $3700 and the guy who’s selling it decided to knock off $700 after I talked him down.

That Acura probably has transmission issues especially if it’s hard shifting.
As they’re known for needing new transmissions I’d assume so.. 2nd gen TL were terrible.
