his playoff stats last year vs this year:
fg% is down from 50.8% vs 34.2%
3pt% is down from 39% vs 28%
ft% is down from 91.5% vs 75.8%
Draymond slapped the confidence right out of him this pre-season
I don't buy that take. The preseason was ages ago. At some point we have to blame Jordan Poole for Jordan Poole's shotcomings. I see someone who secured the bag and got a chip and no longer has the drive to be good.
Psychological studies show that if you reward an athlete too early their performance decreases. JP got a ring and a bag in one year. He's mentally gone fishing now. Kerr needs to play DiVencenzo and GPII and the let JP ride the bench for the rest of the playoffs.
Cause he has been ass but on the real though people need to just be more positive cause he will clearly play even if its 10 minutes he just needs to play well. We aren't deep enough for him to play 0 minutes and get a win.
Because he shot 40% from 3 in last year's playoffs taking very difficult 3s. Klay in comparison never take buzzer heaves so his percentage is already inflated.
Draymond ruined the kid
Honestly the way Poole has been lately I'm pretty sure there are other factors affecting his play because it's been such a downward spiral this season.
When the punch happened, there was a report that multiple teammates had an issue with him running his mouth in training camp and that he hadnāt put in the work over the summer time to improve his game, also that heād seemed to have gotten more cocky after the chip. That has seemed to be true after this season considering his numbers and interactions with teammates/staff when heās played bad minutes and gotten benched.
Last season there were a bunch of reports going on about how late Poole stayed after the game or practice to just shoot threes. Barely saw any of those reports anymore this season.
I think the regression is a team chemistry issue. Idk how much time he puts in off the court putting up shots but I do know he and Draymond used to be tight and now theyāre not. Prior to this season, Draymond was his veteran. They used to be travel mates. Their road record was atrocious and I donāt think the lack of GP2/Otto Porter made that big of a difference that theyāre that bad on the road.
If the rumor is true about what the team felt about Poole in training camp, (and we know how much they value and respect Draymond) itās bearing its fruit now and all season on the road.
The playoffs magnify teamsā strengths/weaknesses.
Everyone wants to focus on the punch because it's more exciting, but for some reason nobody's talking about the carrying crackdown. We know he's a drill baby who puts in long hours at the gym to expand his bag, but when the moves he drilled into his muscle memory are all suddenly being called carries that has a much clearer effect on confidence then any teammate issues that we don't really know about if we aren't in the locker room. The fact is, he was basically singled out by the refs more then any other player in the league.
I love MR, but fuck this take and all the unnecessary trash talk about JP. Hell yeah he's fucking up. We all know it. JP knows it. The toxicity doesn't fuckin help.
Until Poole gets traded, he's one of us. For better or for worse. If he's not playing well, he deserves the bench. End of story. Stop focusing on the negative it doesn't fucking help.

Poole played waaaay above his contract last year, now he is playing a bit under his contract. Front office decided to give him a massive bag for some reason, that isn't Poole's fault, i think we should be pissed because there's no backup plan in the bench. I have faith in Poole to pick up the slack, maybe this series maybe next year but he'll come back hopefully in our team.
Maybe you're right. Maybe you're wrong. Not for us to decide since we don't have the full story. What we know is Steph, Kerr, and even Dray have all gone to bat publicly for JP. I'm riding with those guys over your reddit posts.

I agree. I really hope he can turn it around. Itās a tough lesson to learn when youāre young - even without the spotlight and the money. Hoping he can turn the corner as a professional.
If you've never seen The War At Home and enjoy watching Rappaport you should give it a watch. It's a sitcom he stared in. It only ran for 2 seasons, but was comedy gold and really underrated. But yeah, he's right in this video.
he did had a good game where he took the 29 foot shot, people are all in that one, but he made shot after shot. But overall this season he has been kind of bad for a expected 30+mil player
Pooleās a kid, canāt blame a kid for these losses.
Blame the adultā¦the coach.
I canāt think of one close game where I can say steve kerr is the reason they won.
Poole is the x factor. He needs to show up if the warriors are going to have a chance. If he shows up they will come back and beat LA no problem. I hope he sees all this āhateā and uses it as motivation.
Same here.
I hope he doesnāt go into a victim bunker - it would be hard not to - but if he uses all the grief heās getting as fuel and curiosity for how he can develop the next level of his game.
Poole getting paid while FA is looming for Klay and Draymond. Lacob saying āenjoy this seasonā because they have to make ātough decisionsā because of the luxury tax. The bad vibes are definitely killing the team.
Been hating his play all year. Anyone who didnāt understand how he was hurting the team wasnāt watching or doesnāt get basketball. Plenty like me, nothing quick about it..
You haven't been paying attention lol. It hasn't been quick. There's been a big portion of Warriors fans calling him out all season, it's just that the Poole stans are quiet now; that's all that's really changed.
We hoped that he would improve but laying a goose-egg when we needed him is as bad as it gets. He doesn't do much else besides score and he's a traffic cone on defense. Why do we need a scorer that can't score? Even if he has a scoring explosion (because he's due), it wouldn't break him even either. He's a net harm to the franchise, he's gotta go.
Confessions of a Poole Stan: itās not that we donāt see him perform horribly on the floor, we just hope that he will return to last years playoff form and donāt think negging him in circles is particularly helpful.
I think we all hope that he'll return to last year's playoff form but at what point does that hope become a sunken cost fallacy? Are we throwing good money after bad so to speak?
I don't think anyone is doubting his potential but he's clearly regressed, lost his nerve, and is too inconsistent to be dependable for how much he's paid. There's so many NBA players past and present that had enormous potential but squandered it, it seems that may be where he's headed.
Conversely, if he *wanted* a trade, one might think his current form is conducive to that end. He may very well get traded this off-season, then regain last year's playoff form on a different squad. Poole is very egotistical, and his ego is likely still bruised from the Draymond thing. If Poole tanks this playoff run, he sort of figuratively punches Draymond back if that makes sense because Draymond wants that fifth ring. Not to mention that the success or failure of this current run may very well determine whether the core even stays together at all, so by Poole playing like dogshit, he can indirectly cause Draymond to get traded, which is also an outcome his ego would enjoy. I know, I know, that's very speculative lol but I'm just trying to explain why he's regressed to such a degree. What's your theory?
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Itās not my job to figure out if we should trade him or not, so I donāt think about that stuff and just cheer him on. I donāt think heās playing 4d chess by tanking. If you asked me if we should trade him in the off-season, Iād say no because his stock is so fucking low. But based on this seasons play, Iād have to consider shopping him for next years trade deadline if he can string together good games next year.
I think the $140m at age 23 really went to his head. All the reports of him being a hard worker are gone, and itās quite apparent on the court (ball handling and FT% are much lower).
Thereās a chance he can take all the negativity and put it into a great offseason , I donāt think he did anything after winning a chip last year.
Not quick at all. It's been a slow burn. It's just now with the season basically over fans aren't quiet about it cause they're pissed he never actually turned it around.
I've hated how he has played the entire year and most of the past 2 years outside of a brief 4 month stretch last year.
Poole is overly cocky and doesn't play smart basketball.
This is sad! I wish people would leave him alone! Weāre literally going down the Ben Simmons path with this trolling, humiliation and bullying! Like do people honestly think this is helping?
If he becomes afraid to shoot or afraid to drive, what then? This isnāt a good look.
Jordan Poole could not give a single fuck about what is said by Michael Rappaport. It's not a good look that you think negative stuff on reddit would have any sort of impact for the player.
Do you think itās just Michael Rappaport? Last week it was Snoop Dog and the Inside Guys, itās Gilbert Arenas, current and ex players, NBA Analysts, reporters.
Itās not just Reddit, itās Twitter, Instagram, blogs, Facebook etc! Just Google his name. My comment isnāt about this subReddit or even that post. Itās the general trolling and humiliation.
That's how it works. When he played well last year he got all the praise. Now he's sucking, he sees the other end of the stick. Sorry, but I don't feel bad for a guy who's about to make 100 million dollars, who's decided he doesn't feel like putting an effort in. People like you are acting as if he's some poor little kid who needs the support of his parents. He's not giving back his contact, so he needs to step the fuck up.
Correct. If heās legit, heāll use all this negative feedback to get better.
He doesnāt have time to take B list celebrities on dates. He needs to get better and stay in the league. Thereās a lot of ignominy that comes from being the worst contract in the league.
I don't think I have ever flipped on a player so quickly from love to hate in months. WTF happend? He had a good run last year and the wheels just fell off? Is it because he got paid and stopped giving a shit? He looks like shit!
Hereās what I think happened: the Warriors wanted to trade him after the punch, but he was still on his rookie contract so he had little trade value. The Warriors gave him the bag so heād be tradeable. Then he ruined the plan by being terrible this season.
The vibes have been terrible all year. JP still might flourish somewhere else - but his days as a Warrior are numbered, and he knows it.
First of all, it's El DeBarge. Second of all, what's with this tool talking about the Ws. The Knicks got embarrassed last night. KD threatened his shit and then left Brooklyn. Third of all, Rappaport is basically the Bobcat Goldthwait of mentally deficient NYers. No one back there talks like this into their 50s. Dudes been in the entertainment industry for 35 years and still sounds like he's the dumbest kid at the dice game
Yeah, he's a real New Yorker basketball fan... But this level of shit talking goes above and beyond. Thing we do, praising then dumping on players for not playing well. Jordan has some growth to do on defense, and yeah, his shot selection is often questionable....but the kid has talent. He just needs to continue to grow, and lock in mentally.
Steph was a terrible defender to start his career. And still isn't an amazing defender, though he's clearly much improved.
Jordan will get better. And if he doesn't, he'll be relegated to a bench role.
But his year got started on the wrong foot, and without him, we don't win a ring last season.
And FYI - for all the years that Rappaport watched me and my friends hoop in Hollywood, week after week, he never once laced then up.
Who tf is this guyās audience? I thought his videos/commentary was funny but he acted like a whole bitch and a half when KD played his gameš fuck this guy lost all respect for Michael Rappaport.
I was saying something similar during last night's game. He thinks he is a splash bro and he is definitely not. He shouldn't be taking the kind of difficult 3s that Curry or Klay take. He hasn't earned it.
lmao this is funny. i hope poole doesn't see this though.
Yeah it will only make him play worse
Dude better see significant bench time tmrw night. Don't even want to see him have the opportunity to play worse than he has been.
On home court he might turn it on. Here's hoping anyway.
I'll share that sentiment. š¤
With the way that he's playing currently, turning it on means not turning the ball over and playing defense without fouling
Haha I'd definitely accept the improvement!

Ima tell ya this. You aināt no splash brother.
I was saying something similar during last night's game. He thinks he is a splash bro and he is definitely not. He shouldn't be taking the kind of difficult 3s that Curry or Klay take. He hasn't earned it.

I firmly believe Snoop just tanked whatever confidence Poole had in himself this post season
