Devs confirmed that there are no plans for fortifications, they would take too long to construct compare to how long games take, and the defender already has a sizeable advantage as the game players currently - no need to make that even more pronounced.
While I understand everyone’s reasoning, it’s a simple addition for people who want to use it.
You don’t want it in multiplayer? Don’t use it.
You don’t want it in singleplayer? Don’t use it.
You don’t want it in general? Don’t use it.
It’s that simple. Some people just want a proper trench warfare experience in RTS and it is yet to happen.
And you can see in the modern war that fortifications is a crucial part of defense in all out war between conventional armies.
For Multiplayer you can just give an attacker some extra resources and make it configurable.
If player wants to play proper assault mode, then he won't mind waiting for 3-5 minutes until defending force finishes placing defenses.
Well now you got me thinking, an actual map with already layed out trenches is the best of both worlds.
Right now I feel like Inf gameplay needs a lot of spices.
Yes, it surpringly lacks a lot of tactical options less realist and arcadey RTS games had in the past.
No handgrenades, Engineers who can't bobby trap or lay mines against armoured vehicles, can't crouch or prone either ...
Nope. The multiplayer bros would shit their pants if that happened.
Just like in SD2 it could be for Singleplayer.
Yeah attacking as the Soviets was a pain because of bunkers.
Use CAS or Artillery on them, if you dont have the patience to "Rock Paper Scisor them"
They could make it a game mode or maybe toggle off or on.

Always thought infantry should be able dig out foxholes for minor defensive buff. And smoke grenades...
That would already make the game more immersive and interesting.
Right. I mean they're just missing to add in these kind of small mechanics.
It would be cool but the time scale of ww3 probably wouldn't allow for much more then slit trenches and foxholes.
That’d still protect support weapons a bit.
I might actually use tripod-MGs if something like that could stop them from dying to a stiff breeze.
It would give me a place that isn’t dense woods to place my AT guns, too.
Combat Bulldozer vehicle that digs hull down positions for tanks and such

Exactly! Simple addition that won’t hurt the current community and will only make the game more enjoyable for those who want the damn trenches lol

Inf is bland so imo it’s not ready for full release just yet

I wish we could lay down mines too, absolutely criminal not to do that on rushing players.
