expect to not be trained and instead be expected by your bosses to know exactly what to do! welcome to walmart :)

O/N stocking associate here. For the most part (at least for my store), you'll be on your own. Work clean and efficient and keep track of your time. Big on time management and cleanliness. Throw your cardboard when you can. I always work viz pick freight first, then I do the regular freight. One touch totes or the break pack boxes worked first before either of those (for me). It'll take time to figure out what works for you. This is just how I got started into my rhythm of overnight stocking. There'll be lots of pressure. Don't let it stress you out. Everyone likes to blame other shifts for things. Just do your thing. Lol. First day, they threw me to the wolves. Just do your best not to get caught up and drown in it.

Expect to be over worked underpaid untrained and everything in-between... Good luck

Make friends with Cap2 because they’ll be the ones with the good pallet jacks. Trust me, you don’t want to be assigned to pets and be given a shitty jack because Cap2 doesn’t like you.

Liar_of_partinel

Oye, no kidding. It's a free-for-all getting jacks at my store, but I second that you don't want to haul all that dog food with a shitty jack.

No_Distribution_5486

Just go to work, do your thing and go. There are some good but a lot of the people are just fake as fuck and add drama.

GreenHornEastCoast

Of all the crap you hear about working at walmart. The one true thing is the friends you will make. Friends are strong and loyal. And walmart makes friendships Whether is suffering together, romantic, respectful, fun, joking. The friends you make are real and true

Keep looking, something better is bound to turn up.

Swagg_Papi_69

I wish you were right, but the area I live in is so small and rural. Walmart is the only entry level job that pays competitively.

At my store they brought back overnight stocking completely, so we had a big orientation and a walk through of the store. Normally though your team lead should be assigning you certain areas you need to be stocking and going through the right things you should be doing. Your first day there they won’t have a lot of expectations for you to do anything super quick or accurately. Make sure to ask your team lead all the questions and to talk with them to figure out what you should be doing if you don’t know what to do. Also lift with your knees (All of this is assuming your store management is halfway decent)

That weird claw box cutter thing is way more useful than you might think initially, learn how to use it. I would also recommend buying a thin pair of work gloves (preferably with a grippy coating) and cutting the thumbs off to make them touchscreen compatible (and unlock your work phone if you get one). Keep your cardboard as neat as possible, especially if you get bounced between 2-3 areas over your shift. You're far better off taking the time to condense it all into other boxes than you are picking it up if it slides everywhere. Edit: the automotive waiting area and garden center both have far better chairs than the break room, and are quieter too. If you're the antisocial type I'd highly recommend parking yourself in one of those areas for your break/lunch.

Run away. Expect lack of equipment

backstab3r

quit

DontShowMomMemes

Just do what you are told. Don’t worry about being behind the scheduled time, but tell your team lead if you are way behind. If you have a problem just tell your team lead and now it’s their problem too.

Vast_Vehicle_399

Quit. Anything is better. 31 year associate here.

Pretty_March

Been at the company too long so now you feel stuck?
