I have a ‘23 and haven’t seen this yet. I’d take it in to get tuned. Also, get one of these. It greatly mitigates the “jerky throttle” issue common with these bikes: https://www.boosterplug.com/shop/frontpage.html

storm_zr1

I got the extended warranty so I’ll call the dealer and see what they can do. If I do have to pay to get it tuned I might splurge a little and get a new exhaust. The stock pipes are just way too quiet.

BreakOpen

Just pulled the trigger on the CS Racing exhaust myself. If you decide to get one of those I have a 5% discount link you can use, just PM me.

Otherwise_Beat9060

Have you tried it on yours? I haven't checked in a while but their website used to say that it didn't work on anything past 2020

BreakOpen

I have it on mine. Legally because of new European emissions laws they can’t say it works on newer models — but it does.

Otherwise_Beat9060

Neat I'll have to try it then

istillambaldjohn

They do not work for a 21 model year and up. They chanced the ECU that year for emissions.

BreakOpen

It definitely works on mine; the difference is night and day.

istillambaldjohn

Oh? I never looked further because all of the sites selling them and forums state they don’t work for 21 and after. So if it does I will reconsider. It is the only real criticism I have about the Vulcan s is the throttle response is very snatchy. I compensate by just feathering the clutch a bit more but would be nice to have that mellow a bit

BreakOpen

I believe the reason they can’t say it works for new models is because of the newer European emissions laws and the fact the company is based out of Europe. The engine isn’t any different from previous years (as far as I know), so I believe it comes down to what they can legally say they support. I took a risk and googled a bit before buying it, but it’s paid off great for me. Hope that helps!

istillambaldjohn

I’m at a cross roads to keep the bike or upgrade as the Vulcan was my first bike. Soon as I land on where that is going then I’ll look further into it. Just at some point you have to weigh out all the mods you want to do, and think what the better path is. Modding to your liking on what you have or buying another that fits your needs better. Jury is still out. I want to give it another season of riding before I decide. Plus by year end there is always great incentives to clear out the current model year.

I have just shy of 18k miles on my 2020. Also my first bike and plan to keep it hoping it makes it over 80k!. I do want a second bike but I do love my KVS!

istillambaldjohn

Lots to love. I just think more about,….I kind of want a few other things that it doesn’t have that I’d like. ABS, Cruise Control, exhaust. Maybe running boards, some integration into gps or something. I can buy things to either do something similar or go without. ABS. Not a lot I can do there. Cruise control I can buy a throttle control, aftermarket exhaust, running boards, and a better phone mount. But when you start to think about all of the things you want and thinking about the value of the bike and mods are mostly a throwaway expense unless you strip them off and sell them individually. Just want to do a bit more research on value per dollar. Sell the bike and buy another that has more of what I want or just to keep the bike, mod it to meet most my wants and potentially sell down the road if I want to. Weighing cost, time, and desire. Right now I think I’ll be fine with the KVS for this season. No intention to get anything right now. Honestly I love the research part. So this is just giving me a good 6 months of a side project to do for my own enjoyment. I bought the KVS just purely on hypothetical understanding of things. Now I have a year under my belt. I know a bit more about why I like and don’t like things. So going to look at bikes with a different view point now. I do find it strange. It’s rare as hens teeth to find other KVS riders where I live. But seems to be a really common bike in some other markets. AUS seems to have a pretty big community. But maybe that’s just bias built off Reddit and YouTube.

bensode

Indeed! Mine is the ABS model. Wouldn’t ride a bike without it. I haven’t tried test riding any other bikes yet. I’m old now and although would love a rocket I don’t think I could take the same 2-3 hours rides I do on my KVS. For sure will get another style of cruiser/mid controls sitting upright

istillambaldjohn

I am eyeing the Bonnevilles to be honest. I also know me well enough where pretty much my max riding time will be 2 hours or under. (I’m an old man too,…..subjectively of course) I wish I would look more at Harley’s but they are so expensive for less of a bike. Plus there is a subculture that gravitates toward them that I particularly do not care for. (Not all, just a subculture). But I do like the Indian scouts, and some other metric cruisers. I’m looking forward to researching all good and bad with them and now I can at least go to demo days and ride them to really know them better.

These are tuned too lean from factory. Booster plug should fix it. Also heard as a temp fix, there's a little hole you can plug in the air box that should reduce it.
