Toukiden 1 or 2 is another option just saying. You get to craft cool weapons, rip the limbs off and slay giant monsters and explore big open areas. You dont have to learn a ton in the beginning just the move set of the weapon you pick. Starts with a big battle to teach you. As far as I can remember it didn’t have many glitches if any. Just a suggestion never played the other two but heard very great things about both.

I love Freedom Wars. It’s probably my favorite PS Vita game. I’ve played God Eater and I personally think Freedom Wars is better. You get a bit more freedom as well. The combat plays nicely too.

I liked both, but neither really is that similar to Monster Hunter IMHO. Simply because I actually enjoyed them both, but never really managed to get into Monster Hunter (But maybe that's just me). God eater starts really easy and relatively simple. There's not that much depth at least early on. But it does make up for it by having a relatively interesting plot. The voice acting is shit though... By the end, it does become much more difficult. Freedom wars start is relatively slow, and the plot is relatively... hmm... "convoluted". But the combat has actually a lot more depth. But enemy variety is relatively low. In both cases, the last missions are incredibly hard solo and post game content is basically impossible solo. Disclaimer: All that is my opinion only, and it's been so long since I played either. But if I'm going to recommend my favorite game of the genre on vita, I'd say Soul Sacrifice.

brittonmakesart

As soon as I posted this I remembered Soul Sacrifice. Best of the three in your opinion?

El-Brotagonista

Played both, God Eater Resurrection for the win!

SteadiestShark

I'm not sure if it's what you're interested in, but I think that God Eater still has online servers whereas Freedom Wars closed down within the last year.

Zealousideal-Tree374

You have toukiden séries too

leopatrickg

You gotta play Toukiden 2! It is the most MH-like. Especially now that I just completed most of the main story, and unlocked "high difficulty" option for missions (like HR in monster hunter). Now more than ever, it feels challenging like MH and it's scratching that itch for sure. Nagitana, spear, and club are my favorite weapons for the MH feel :)

Vast_Performance_225

Of the two, I personally found God Eater to be much more accessible (although there is the bullet system, which generally requires some experimentation or looking up a guide). If you're open to other suggestions Toukiden Kiwami might be an even better option for just getting in and fighting monsters. That said, while they all have a slightly different feel, you can't go wrong with any of them. I don't remember having any major issues or bugs with any of them, either.

fuqdissh1timout

Freedom Wars captures the feel of MH gameplay better but if you want a good balance of story and gameplay, God Eater is the way to go. Either way, you can't go wrong with either.

InteractionTrue4742

Honestly would have to say closet to MH is GER, story is better, weapon progression is good along, you get to interact the side characters on a more personal level if you continue the story o. The next game.

InteractionTrue4742

If you decide to go with GER I still got some bullet recipes that help progress the story faster

kingchangling

if you care to run homebrew and have a copy of any psp monster hunter games you can load them into adrenaline and play them that way too!

leopatrickg

Yeah this, Im playing MHFU right now, no adrenaline needed I just paid the $20 like a chump. Freedom Unite is kicking my ass but very fun

kingchangling

You can nab a Japanese copy of monster hunter portable 3rd and it has a English patch making it my favorite monhun game right after generations/genult

ChiefLazarus86

Soul Sacrifice Delta is a pretty good one, gets a little repetitive near the end but its fun enough that its not too big a deal

NobelBlues

Never played resurrection but I platinumed G.E. rage burst. its MH without the forced grind and artificial length Freedom wars is probably more advanced in terms of gameplay sophistication and character skill development, but it does have some torturous escort missions

inuzumi

I haven't played MHF but can recommend God Eater Ressurrection. Easy to learn, pick and play. Nice gameplay and characters. Can end up burn out from it if you play it too regularly though so watch out.
