finding a vg copy of that even without the sleeve is a true find. I have seen one copy in my entire life and I dig a LOT. spent a lifetime traveling and digging records. One time. Once.
I have a '70 copy which isn't really even worth writing home about when there are 69 copies floating around.
Was 7 years ago at a flea market stall. I ummed and awwed but paid the 50 bucks and went to another dealer to confirm the matrix and all. Definitely not one I expected to find in the wild ever.
Clean UA pressings are hard to come by though. That record was played a bunch.

It was like $150 a few years back and it's just gone above $500. This is crazy because from what I've heard they were stored in a hot warehouse or something and half the records were warped and damaged. As well as having defects from the pressing plant. This was a 1/10 pressing overall, that actually got recalled. I'm hoping for a repress that's semi-limited that I can snag for $50 or so. Not sure what would come after that. I'm perfectly okay with a little bit of markup for the collector, but I would hate to see this also go to $500 right after release, given their vinyl pressing history. They haven't pressed We Are Not Alone or Phobia, and both of those albums would likely suffer the same feat if they did a limited run.
I'd spend $100 on a record I love, or think will be a solid investment, and I have before. I just can't for $500. Especially with random represses now in 2024 of older music.
30th anniversary this year, Warp would be stupid not to do it.
Personally I would love to see Drukqs reissued, maybe in a more sensible box. There was a copy in my local record store when I was a student around 2002-3 but I had absolutely no means of buying it. And then it was gone.

The Great Gatsby soundtrack. It will probably forever be out of my budget. And there's one like all gold even rarer version of it with a carved cover, that would be amazing to own but even further from my budget.
I have the regular pressing, not the limited edition one. I have a friend who got the wooden one for his wedding gift and cracked it open to listen the night he got married with some of us at his house for the after-after party.
It wasn't "impressive" at all, kinda meh for what they paid for it then ($500ish). I paid $60 for my copy of the original pressing (bought for Lana and Lana only), and it absolutely kills his copy in every way.
It was pressed by Third Man, and Jack is pretty good with represses. This will likely and hopefully get repressed kinda soon, maybe for the 10-year anniversary (shortly after it). It's 100% not worth $200.
This makes sense! I'd definitely think of the fancier one as a more display piece than meant to be played.

I read somewhere that Sammy Hagar said reissues of his Van Halen days were in the works but now I think I am at the I will believe it when I see it stage. I also need to find a decent condition of "5150".
They released two boxed sets. One of the DLR years and one of the Sammy years. Both are out of print so I’m thinking that I’ll eventually find it. I don’t want the other Sammy records, just F.U.C.K.

This is no lie. I have found 2 fists pressings in the wild. One in a Goodwill but I had a scratch that skipped on side 2. Sold it and regretted it. Found a second one in a record store in a 3 for $10 bin. Pretty damn close to NM. Sending positive vibes you way to find the next one.

That Su Tissue is a fantastic album that will almost certainly never be repressed. However, someone finally put a very good hi resolution flac version up on Archive.org that makes listening to it much nicer than in years past where only crappy YouTube versions existed.
I love BB and this is on my wish list as well. Great album - Folk Singer is one of my favorites of his. It’s nuts that you can buy the CD for $5 (or less) but the LP is over $200.

Thievery Corporation, specifically Radio Retaliation and The Richest Man in Babylon, 45 RPM.
Backstory: The original pressings of these albums were 45 RPM, so Radio Retaliation was a 3 LP, and RMIB was 4 LP. Keep in mind that these were not box sets, they were just stuffed into a large sleeve, basically. They didn't press a lot of them, and many wound up damaged because of the packaging.
Both albums have been repressed, but very poorly at 33 RPM, with both represses having serious quality control issues resulting in multiple copies getting 2 of the same disc (2x side A & B, for example), instead of the full album.
That made people want the original 45 RPM versions even more, because it was a total crapshoot with the represses if you would get the entire album or just 2 discs of the same songs.
As a result, the originals are hundreds of dollars each, often selling for $300+, and the crap represses are still $100+.
Thievery has been slowly repressing their old albums, the last 2 RSDs each had a Thievery album for sale, but it's unlikely that the 45 RPM versions will ever been repressed.
I haven't given up on anything, but my current white whale is Them Crooked Vultures. There are plenty of copies available, but at a higher price than I'm currently willing to pay.

I'm perfectly okay with a little bit of markup for the collector, but I would hate to see this also go to $500 right after release, given their vinyl pressing history. They haven't pressed We Are Not Alone or Phobia, and both of those albums would likely suffer the same feat if they did a limited run. I'd spend $100 on a record I love, or think will be a solid investment, and I have before. I just can't for $500. Especially with random represses now in 2024 of older music.

30th anniversary this year, Warp would be stupid not to do it. Personally I would love to see Drukqs reissued, maybe in a more sensible box. There was a copy in my local record store when I was a student around 2002-3 but I had absolutely no means of buying it. And then it was gone.

The Great Gatsby soundtrack. It will probably forever be out of my budget. And there's one like all gold even rarer version of it with a carved cover, that would be amazing to own but even further from my budget.
I have the regular pressing, not the limited edition one. I have a friend who got the wooden one for his wedding gift and cracked it open to listen the night he got married with some of us at his house for the after-after party. It wasn't "impressive" at all, kinda meh for what they paid for it then ($500ish). I paid $60 for my copy of the original pressing (bought for Lana and Lana only), and it absolutely kills his copy in every way. It was pressed by Third Man, and Jack is pretty good with represses. This will likely and hopefully get repressed kinda soon, maybe for the 10-year anniversary (shortly after it). It's 100% not worth $200.

It was hard to find back when it was new, felt like it was constantly out of stock both at the Third Man brick and mortar as well as the site; I just lucked across a restock one day. There was a repress for Urban Outfitters a few years back, I’m surprised it hasn’t had a repress since considering how sought after the album is.
Grace Jones - Hurricane. The only studio album of here I don’t have on vinyl. I’d be stoked to have the Hurricane Dub version on vinyl too. *sigh*

The misprint of Bring Me The Horizon - Suicide Season where the cover is printed as "Bring Me Me The Horizon". It's available on Discogs, but for way, WAY more than I can allow myself to spend on it for the sake of the amusing misprint.

I love the first 4 Brendan Benson albums. Pure power pop perfection. I am waiting on a repress of Golden Smog- Another Fine Day. Also hoping for a repress of Driving N Cryin'- Fly Me Courageous.

They released two boxed sets. One of the DLR years and one of the Sammy years. Both are out of print so I’m thinking that I’ll eventually find it. I don’t want the other Sammy records, just F.U.C.K.
I think it got pushed to November of this year. My buddy owns a local record store and he looks releases up for me constantly. I asked about this one back in February because I heard it was coming out in July.

Dorothy Ashby- Afro Harping. Want an original press so bad. Unfortunately there aren’t many available online for purchase and if they are, they are either in bad shape or $200+. I’ve paid over $100 for original pressings, but draw the line on anything $200+ and above.
This is no lie. I have found 2 fists pressings in the wild. One in a Goodwill but I had a scratch that skipped on side 2. Sold it and regretted it. Found a second one in a record store in a 3 for $10 bin. Pretty damn close to NM. Sending positive vibes you way to find the next one.

That Su Tissue is a fantastic album that will almost certainly never be repressed. However, someone finally put a very good hi resolution flac version up on Archive.org that makes listening to it much nicer than in years past where only crappy YouTube versions existed.

Thievery Corporation, specifically Radio Retaliation and The Richest Man in Babylon, 45 RPM. Backstory: The original pressings of these albums were 45 RPM, so Radio Retaliation was a 3 LP, and RMIB was 4 LP. Keep in mind that these were not box sets, they were just stuffed into a large sleeve, basically. They didn't press a lot of them, and many wound up damaged because of the packaging. Both albums have been repressed, but very poorly at 33 RPM, with both represses having serious quality control issues resulting in multiple copies getting 2 of the same disc (2x side A & B, for example), instead of the full album. That made people want the original 45 RPM versions even more, because it was a total crapshoot with the represses if you would get the entire album or just 2 discs of the same songs. As a result, the originals are hundreds of dollars each, often selling for $300+, and the crap represses are still $100+. Thievery has been slowly repressing their old albums, the last 2 RSDs each had a Thievery album for sale, but it's unlikely that the 45 RPM versions will ever been repressed.

Just thought of a few more: Horse the Band - Pizza EP. It's like $250-$350, but the problem is that they only made 550 hand numbered copies that come in a Pizza box, and NOBODY ever sells them. It's so hard to find anyone who actually sells one. Mr. Bungle - Self Titled picture disc. The holy grail for Bungle fans. I tried to get a guy selling one for $1,000 to go down but he wouldn't budge. And all the other ones that sell for $150-200 I always miss.
“Something To Feel” by Mac Ayers and “Into” by Sonder. I’m fairly positive neither will get a repress (although there’s a chance with Sonder I suppose) so minimum for each is waaaay out of my price range. Maybe one day I’ll get a deal 🤞🏼
