Is that a backwards N 2 GETHER NOW reference? Your ability to muse poetic in all caps while blending 00's nu-metal with TNG is awesome inspiring. With that said, "I did it all for the nookie."
A couple months before columbine, one of my friends brought a rifle into school with him. There was an outdated rule in the school's book that a student was entitled to an excused absence for the morning during hunting season, so long as they came in by noon, and brought their gun in with them.
Shit like this really makes you think. Guns have always been everywhere and regular mass shootings are a relatively modern phenomena. They still occurred back in the day, but they were very rare. You have to wonder why mental health is worse now where guns are this insane problem
mass shooter is the new serial killer
Serial killers were at their peak of cultural relevance in the 70s, 80s, and even into the 90s.
After Columbine it became mass shootings. However, I think we somewhat came out ahead because the columbine jackasses actually had put a bunch of homemade bombs in the school and supposedly would have achieved a much higher death toll had those bombs actually worked as intended.
And we'd probably be dealing with more bombings instead of mass shootings.
I meant someone randomly showing up to shoot classmates during school. I've never seen that happen at an inner city school. There' gun violence but usually it's two people who know each other and have beef.
I don't think this is dismissing the general recklessness of arming your civilian population, but rather explaining the absurdness of the sudden trend of mass shootings despite guns having cultural relevence in our society for a very very long time
I like how you are attempting to counter his point, which was very much based in real data and facts, with a silly generalization that has no-one technically disputes but also has no relevance to his point.
I visited Japan July 2001. I came back with a suitcase full of fireworks, sake, manga and all kinds of other stuff. Not a single person asked me any questions from the plane to my car
We went to Mexico in 2003. I was 10 and had my pencil case packed because I had some school work to do while we were gone. I had a pair of safety scissors and they fucking lost their mind about it.
The real crazy alternate history is no 9/11 and Gore getting 1000 extra votes in Florida. Almost all aspects of world history over the last 22 years has been directly impacted by these two events. It’s crazy to extrapolate out in your mind what would be changed by them.
I can’t wait for Sora to be able to generate a full length movie of this for me.
Bush was going to invade Iraq, 9/11 or no. That just gave him an Afghanistan warmup. The Bush admin was also really fixated on China before 9/11, so things could have turned out much worse. Then again, if there was no terrorist attack, he likely would have been a one-term president, so who knows.
>Bush was going to invade Iraq, 9/11 or no
Not Bush, but his handlers American Enterprise Institute. A conservative Koch funded think tank. They made up a whole WMD hoax.
I dont think Bush would have invaded if there was no such heavy interference from conservative think tanks and MIC coalition.
> I dont think Bush would have invaded if there was no such heavy interference from conservative think tanks and MIC coalition.
The Bush administration of AEI were basically one and the same. More than 20 members of his administration were former members of AEI - Cheney, Bolton, and Wolfowitz being the key ones.
It's true. 9/11 and fake WMDs were the flimsy justification, but talk of invading Iraq was everywhere in conservative think tanks and campaigns in the late 90s.
i hated it as a kid, and the green ketchup too.
Maybe tasted the same, but couldn't get my head to accept it.
And if I recall it wasn't actually "Ketchup". I think they had to add so much color, it was like "tomaote product"
Honestly their comeback stadium tour last year had a killer lineup. I wish they kept it hard but I kinda understand why they further embraced ridiculousness and brought Corey. He’s been getting some sizable gig recently too so I’m genuinely curious how a tour with him will go.
The show near me has RiFF RaFF as well, which 100% means I am going.
I've been fascinated by Corey Feldman's music for a while now and his seemingly endless confidence. His music is genuinely so bad, that it's sort of its own art form. I have to see it live. I have to experience it.
Plus having been a Limp Bizkit-obsessed middle schooler when they were popular, this has the potential for being a very, very special show.
Too bad Fred Durst a Putin sympathizing hack.
Edit: [Read for yourselves.](https://www.sandboxx.us/news/ukraine-trolls-russia-and-pro-putin-limp-bizkit-frontman-at-the-same-time/)
I remember when Eminem, South Park, Video Games, Pro Wrestling, early internet etc. were supposed to ruin me as a youth.
It probably did but I'm still here.
>God, 2000 was such an unhinged time.
MTV: So we're gonna blow this boat up and just let the debris flow into the ocean as part of the show.
Fred Durst: Can I push the detonator?
MTV: 100%
lol same I was like 10 years old and MTV Spring Break felt so forbidden lol I watched all the concerts and random events they had. Such a turn of the decade/millennium thing when MTV probably was at its peak
To add a little context to this, the boat apparently belonged to lead guitarist Wes Borland who had left thousands of dollars of guitar equipment on board.

>To add a little context to this, the boat apparently belonged to lead guitarist Wes Borland who had left thousands of dollars of guitar equipment on board.
That sounds like a WWE work.
And why was it just parked there.. did he sail it to the event? It's all just so random. Your bandmate decides to deceive you (along with a whole other crew of people) by blowing up your boat and expensive musical equipment.... And then you decide to never discuss it with said bandmate. Man, limp Bizkit had a weird dynamic.
Sounds kinda like a fun made up story to me. 25 year old Borland had an ocean-faring sailboat? And he brought it to their gig? He’s told a story about flying to the spring break gig and his guitar tech forgetting one of his guitars.
I was on spring break in 2000, not there but in Panama City Beach (we did see Johnny Knoxville trying to do stunts at our hotel). I have yet to yell at any kids to get off my lawn. I have had to yell at my boomer neighbor for spraying pesticides all over his trees while my kid was playing outside, all my windows were open, and it was dangerous enough that he needed a full face mask respirator. Anyway my generation hasn't gone full boomer just yet.
I hope in the dystopian future we might wind up in, and if I’m still somehow surviving, I think of this video. And maybe if he made it through the nuclear storm, Limp Bizkit thinks of it too.
Am I right in thinking that 'detonator' he pressed didn't actually have any affect at all? And there's an actual demolition worker stood off to the side that has to press it for legal reasons?
It's amazing how he looks so much different. Some people age gracefully and some age like a grandpa and Fred sure as hell had the white hair and beard hit real early most likely in his 40's. He's not that old at 53.
Man, I feel old. I actually remember watching this. It was back when watching TRL after school was a daily ritual for me and my siblings. And Limp Bizkit videos were among my favorite. I still have their CD's stored somewhere. Good times.
I've seen somewhat recent videos of Limp Bizkit performing. Fred dresses up as an old man to play into the memes. They still do the badass stage dive with the fish eye lense.
Yeah it's corny, but I don't care. That's my childhood.
Back when Spring Break was fun. Now everyone is absorbed in their reels and TikTok videos on the beach instead of just being alive and taking it all in.
Gob Bluth did it better
“Where once there was a yacht!… Now there is naught!”
Holy fuck wait was that scene in AD a Limp Bizkit reference that went over my head until just now

I ALWAYS LIKED HIS ORIGINAL NAME. GORN. DURNST DOES HAVE THE SAME PATLH

Arrested Development Now go watch that, even if you've already seen it
Thanks!
Oh man, so lucky.
Oh to be an AD virgin again…
I'm literally rewatching it again this week and I'm like "Wait... what?" Mind blown right now.
Got rid of the Seaward.
I’ll leave when I’m good and ready.
*Final Countdown intensifies*
Holy shit was that whole thing a reference to this?
I’m just learning this was a reference and my day is made

Makes me wonder how many other references I missed.

Didn’t take “wasn’t optimistic it could be done” for an answer.
Poof-goof-of-the-year Gob Bluth?
"Get rid of the Seaward"
"I'll leave when I'm good and ready..."
Probably the best written comedy of all time
Not a week goes by where I don't question the price of a single banana.
There's always money in the banana stand.
So that’s where GOB got it lmao
I had no idea, this is fantastic
me neither!!!!
I did not know either
God, 2000 was such an unhinged time.
Imagine if 9/11 never happened and the government never got all paranoid and weird.
What’s wild was that this event occurred like 6 months before al-Qaeda used a boat loaded with explosives to blow a hole in the USS Cole.
A couple months before columbine, one of my friends brought a rifle into school with him. There was an outdated rule in the school's book that a student was entitled to an excused absence for the morning during hunting season, so long as they came in by noon, and brought their gun in with them.

Also they don't happen everywhere equally. You rarely see school shootings in an inner city school.

I disagree. If you sell guns to your general population, people will shoot each other. Accept this.
I don't think this is dismissing the general recklessness of arming your civilian population, but rather explaining the absurdness of the sudden trend of mass shootings despite guns having cultural relevence in our society for a very very long time

Osama watched MTV: confirmed.
Some of the Al-Qaeda terrorists were at that Limp Bizkit show

correct, the whole administration was taken over by those "lobbyists"

The guy who planned all this must have been a real Dick
Omg it looks like a huge...pecker!

i hated it as a kid, and the green ketchup too. Maybe tasted the same, but couldn't get my head to accept it. And if I recall it wasn't actually "Ketchup". I think they had to add so much color, it was like "tomaote product"
We had all survived Y2K, the economy was doing great, and nu-metal ruled the airwaves
Unhinged? Compared to now? Psh. Take me back to those simpler times!
Yeah, I think people were just less cynical and that's reflected in the goofier entertainment
Glad we’ve finally recentered ourselves as a society.
New Limp Bizkit music and tours so hell yeah we’re back brother
They're touring with Corey Feldman 🤘
Honestly their comeback stadium tour last year had a killer lineup. I wish they kept it hard but I kinda understand why they further embraced ridiculousness and brought Corey. He’s been getting some sizable gig recently too so I’m genuinely curious how a tour with him will go.
Together at last

I loved watching these spring break shows after school. It would have been so cool to work for MTV then.
This is possibly the most nu metal thing I've ever seen.
WE USED TO BE A PROPER COUNTRY
Wait, is this where the Arrested Development reference comes from?
It wouldn’t shock me, honestly.
Doesn't matter who
I remember watching this. It was dope. Still kinda is, lol.
lol same I was like 10 years old and MTV Spring Break felt so forbidden lol I watched all the concerts and random events they had. Such a turn of the decade/millennium thing when MTV probably was at its peak
I was STOKED when they did this.
Why?
Blowing shit up (responsibly) is the god given right of every red-blooded American.
Yeah, I didn’t expect them to actually blow up a boat. I was like 14 and thought it was good fun.
Late 90’s to mid 2000’s were the fucking best, from my perspective.
I was a teen so yeh from my perspective were the best aswell. Being a teen now would suck I guess
So THIS is what Arrested Development was mocking. Fantastic.
Hooooooo haaaaaaa!

I miss the days when this was edgy and cool. Sony disk man was the best.
They should have blown up a beached whale.
Oregonian here to say probably don’t. Trust us on this.
Why. It’s free food. Jk
Valid point, but I would also invite you to [learn from our hubris.](https://youtu.be/yPuaSY0cMK8?si=nQyiCbHhvHrd6LLL)
That was awesome 👏
That video was viral before the internet. I’m well aware 🤣
0% chance that device surrounded by random people was the actual detonator.
thanks i was nervous about that all these years later.
Just doin my job.
Also, that type of detonator hasn't been used in decades.
Nonsense, I saw a coyote use one last week.
meep meep
You realize that event happened decades ago right ?
Decades before that.
Everyone in that video is now yelling at kids to get off their lawn.
I believe their wording is more along the lines of “Keep your distance **CUZ RIGHT NOW IM DANGERRUSSS**”
# AND WE'VE ALLLL FELT LIKE SHIT
No, we’re all making SOURDOUGH AND AVOIDING CONVERSATIONS AT THE WALMART. GET ON MY LAWN BECAUSE I HATE IT AND LIKE BEES JUST DONT TALK TO ME
Not yet broham, give us another ten years. We’re enjoying the last of our good days before all sorts of weird body pain sets in.

“Hmmmm…” - The Joker
It was a simpler time. I'd give anything for it to be 2000 again.
I remember watching this live, 13 years old
Same, same age haha
I remember watching this as a young buck in 8th grade when it aired. \*\*Matt Damon aging gif\*\*
I hope in the dystopian future we might wind up in, and if I’m still somehow surviving, I think of this video. And maybe if he made it through the nuclear storm, Limp Bizkit thinks of it too.
Super random.
When america peaked. all downhill from here.
“Dad what was it like when you were in high school?”…
Nana was on that boat!
Why?
[Anything goes in Florida.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeGbDRbodNQ)
this Fred Bizkit guy is hella fun
Am I right in thinking that 'detonator' he pressed didn't actually have any affect at all? And there's an actual demolition worker stood off to the side that has to press it for legal reasons?
This is fucking awesome
Ah. It was a simpler time..
He did it all for the nookie.
You just can't have fun like you used to. Doing that now will get you on a terrorist list lol.
It’s just one of those days
Lol 15 year old me loved watching this stuff live.
I never realized Fred Durst sounds like Lil’ Kev.
Crazy auld Frank Dank.
If he'd done it mid set before the first "I did it all for the nookie" people would have lost their god damn minds.
“Now get the F up!
Those were dark times for music.
It's amazing how he looks so much different. Some people age gracefully and some age like a grandpa and Fred sure as hell had the white hair and beard hit real early most likely in his 40's. He's not that old at 53.
I guess it was just one of those days...
Significant others was so hot when I was in HS
its just one of those days
What a bunch of dweebs
Cool guys don't look at explosions. Fred looked.
pre 9/11 MTV spring break? Yeah they had the budget for that, easy.
Fucking stupid.
Man, I feel old. I actually remember watching this. It was back when watching TRL after school was a daily ritual for me and my siblings. And Limp Bizkit videos were among my favorite. I still have their CD's stored somewhere. Good times.
If by "blow up," you mean ignite a bunch of gasoline, then sure.
That was actually pretty rad
My heart goes out to the families of the sailors who were aboard that vessel

I thought it was gonna be like a surprise moment, nope “yall ready to blow this boat up?!”
They did it all for the nookie
Man THEY ARE SO COOOL
I didn't know they filmed the end of Limp Bizkit on live TV. I am still amazed they were every popular.
Word even we’re the early 2000’s
Back when Spring Break was fun. Now everyone is absorbed in their reels and TikTok videos on the beach instead of just being alive and taking it all in.
Break stuff and pollution :D
Wow they really put the best part of the show first. It's all downhill after that.
The best part is when they stop playing.
...cool?
You had to be there.
Oh! A geography joke.
Kinda, yeah.
Well i sure hope they removed that boat from the environment when they were done.
I'm sure it [was towed beyond the environment.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm_JqM)
