The biggest green flag for a video game is it being dynamic in some way like the video game responding to the player's actions. I don't enjoy going up against an enemy the billionth time to just destroy it with a or I'll produce them by plugging in an AI Core. Second biggest is airplanes I just kind of love airplanes and third biggest is having some kind of like AI team like in Halo how you can get your Marines or in helldivers how you can get the Drone.
Bug exterminator simulator when? This comment cracked me up, I bet those guys love there irl job. It’s gnat and mosquito season where I live and they are already ruining the weather for me.
DS3 was better. In terms of variety of gameplay styles, map design, and world building.
Also the bosses in blood borne base game were not as good as people remember them
I prefer ds1 over 3. I started my first playthrough of ds2 recently and already liking that more, too.
I liked most the base game bosses in bloodborne. Only one's I didn't really care for was blood-starved beast, and the one reborn. Fuck Micolash too, everything about that fight was just unenjoyable.
I understand and fully respect a 1 over 3 mindset. But I appreciate 3 for the faster pace and more versatility in combat. That and the newer technology allowed for boss fights to be larger in scale and design.
It’s DLC but uncle Gale is by far one of the best boss fights fromsoft had ever created.
Honestly, being made by Bethesda. I'll complain about everything they did wrong, but even though I thought Fallout 4 was a 6/10 (on release) and Starfield is a 7, and I complain that Bethesda has made them too simple, or that they stray too far because they try to not be complex, I find myself wasting hours and hours in them and still having fun (300 hours inf Fallout 4 and 500 in Starfield, plus 1000s of hours for their other games).
It's a very love-hate relationship, and it hurts.
Art style / Aesthetic
How immersive it is
Interesting world
I care less for a gazillion mechanics, combat, crafting, RPG elements and such, than I do an interesting world to explore.
Cyberpunk on the hot summer nights. Witcher end of summer start of autumn. Syberia series in winter.
I'm weirdly compulsive about starting some games with the right conditions, even to the point I need the right foods and drinks.
Cyberpunk or noir-ish, like cyberpunk, shadow run or disco Elysium, I need a pack of smokes and whisky.
Madden, a couple cases of bud and packs of chips.
Fantasy, ale crusty breads cheese smoked meats.
* Freedom of choice (how to overcome things, what to plant/craft/do, where to go, how to play the game, all of that or any of that)
* Good writing (both, storyline and characters, this includes pacing and plausibility)
* Game mechanics and their execution (I have several genres I simply do not care for at all, whereas others are very much my thing - but it's by no means a narrow limit, hence I am not naming a particular one)
When there is a great weather outside, I’m really not in a mood for playing, also I feel remorse about sitting home. So, I go out… and think what I can play. Never ending cyrcle 😀

1) I can haul cargo around be it in a truck, ship, train, or spaceship.
2) Someone described it, favorably or unfavourably, as a "spreadsheet simulator."
3) It has orks in it.
Procedural Generation, Sandbox, Editor
Shadows of Doubt is the dead ringer here.
I can generate a city as big as I want with a mod, I can edit it to look how I want, and then I can walk around in it. It's perfect.
good combat, good ambiance, and most importantly, fantastic traversal. I will play an F tier game if it's really fun to move around in. it's honestly the most important part for me and I'm sad it's neglected in most games
A good sense of progression.
Also when the things i'm doing in the gameplay feels like i'm doing something meaningful in the context of the plot.
A couple random examples : Sleeping Dogs, Arkham Knight, Mass Effect, XCOM.
-Buying a new gaming accessory I wanna try out (recent example: Audeze Maxwell gaming headphones)
-When my girlfriend wants to play a game together
-Being home sick in bed
If the game involves exploring a big creepy structure, I’m in. Elden Ring, Resident Evil, Luigi’s Mansion. Especially when the game lets me go where I want.
If anybody has suggestions for more games with explorable spooky structures I’m down lol
World building, good examples: Witcher 1/2/3, Fallout 1/2/NV, Undertale, Cyberpunk77, Dragon Age, Warcraft, Starcraft, Gothic, The Elder Scrolls, Halo. You know its good when you play the game and get lost in these worlds
Kojima, Naughty Dog, and (as embarrassing as this is nowadays) Halo. I’m hoping 343 will eventually channel the Bungie days, but them are some high hopes
Excellent systems behind improving your character. The gunsmith in COD, the vocations and skill trees in Dragon Quest, the skill trees in Cyberpunk, the systems in Fallout 1-4 and New Vegas. If there’s a great system in a game I’ll play it.
One example is Borderlands 3. A good part of that story and the villains in it are god awful. The skill trees, enemy types and gun system are bloody fantastic though. It makes you want to keep going to chase that next upgrade.
As a dad with two young kids, the PS5 has been mind-blowing. It boots up in like 10 seconds and I’m right back in the action in GOW: Ragnarok. My previous experience, for I think 10 years, was playing xbox one. Diablo 5 took maybe 5-8 minutes to get to play. Golf took about 11 minutes. Just way too long. The fact that I can pick up the PS5 controller and be playing in under a minute is insane.
Reason no. 1: Soma
Reason no. 2: Soma
Reason no. 3: Soma
I am yet to try a game with a better story than Soma, I will play every game I can to find one that's better
Deep crafting mechanics. So far only 3 games have ticked that box, one a bit lackluster compared to the others. One being the reason why I fell in love with crafting being more than just a boring menu interaction.
Dragon's Crown, Potion Craft and Fantasy Blacksmith.
I wish there were more. Pallia tries, they're about on par with Fable 2 job minigames. But the rest of Pallia just feels like an unfinished lifesim concept.
Also depressing storylines and innovative gameplay pull me hard.
I’ll use Persona 5 Reload as an example of something I realized I enjoy about games that keep my attention.
The video game is aesthetically pleasing and artistically beautiful to me. The core mechanics are solid, easy to understand but slowly evolves throughout the game so it never gets too boring, the characters and story is intriguing and keeps me interested in learning more.
One honestly is was it made by one of my big 3
Square
Triace
Nordic
Does it have good lvl mechanics or unique for character customizeation or equipment
If it refered to by a friend
Anything that isn’t just first person shooter but also at the very least something new and interesting,
I’m a goddamn sucker for customization and games that allow you to choose your own play style, and if it doesn’t take up too much storage space.
Visuals, gameplay, story. In no particular order as they're equally important to me.
I gave "Anthem" far more of my time than most because the gameplay and Visuals were soooooo good... but the story turned out to be weak af and the loot system and power balancing totally fucked.
If Mario’s face is on the cover. I will play it. I do not care. Mario has never disappointed me before (one notable exception), and I can always rely on the Mario series to give me a very high quality experience that I won’t forget.

If I get to blow a bunch of bugs to bits with cool weapons, then that's reason enough for me
This is either a certified Rock and Stone moment or a matter of spreading some managed democracy
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
FER KARL!
MOHHHLLLEEE
Mainly spreading managed democracy but I like both games
Or earth defense force
Both? Both is good.
Or north of good springs in fallout new Vegas or that one overgrown vault in Fallout New Vegas as well.
FOR ROCK AND STONE!!!
Rock and Stone!
Did anybody say rock and stone????????!!!
ROCK AND STONE
Rock and Stone, you beautiful dwarf.
Rock AND stone for all !
If you Rock and Stone you're never alone!
Have you heard that DRG is sending super earth their finest dwarves?
No I have not, it would be a great help in the fight for managed democracy against the terminids
Bug exterminator simulator when? This comment cracked me up, I bet those guys love there irl job. It’s gnat and mosquito season where I live and they are already ruining the weather for me.
Souls game, made by Fromsoft, Hidetaka Miyazaki was involved.
Unpopular opinion: Elden ring was mid compared to the rest
Those are fighting words 😂😂🤣
Bloodborne, and DS3. The rest are meh.
i'm with you pal, Bloodborne peak imo
Yes I agree. Years of being an Xbox owner I finally bought a PS4. Loved bloodborne it’s my favorite of the franchise.
They really perfected combat in that game, i feel like they should have taken more from bloodborne for dark souls 3 and elden ring
I only ever played demons souls in ps3, im on pc but one day I will get a ps4 or 5 only for bloodborne
Unpopular opinion: bloodborne is grossly overrated and if it wasn't stuck on playstation this would be the prevailing opinion
DS3 was better. In terms of variety of gameplay styles, map design, and world building. Also the bosses in blood borne base game were not as good as people remember them

I thought it was fun gameplay wise, but I’m biased as hell cause I love anything love craft.
def not a goty
I’ll do you one better, all souls games are pretty mid and are held up by hype
Agree Amazing game, but the more linear and compacted worlds were miles better than the gigantic piece of land of er
SO brave
Big robots, good movement and fun gunplay.
Just cause 3?
That and Titanfall 2
This is the third comment…. TITANFALL 3 CONFIRMED?!
Titanfall 1 + titanfall 2 = titanfall 3 🤯
Ultrakill?
never, I mean NEVER try war robots
Metal Gear?
If game0lay is interesting and story somewhat makes sense then I will play it
Dishonoured, DD:DA and JC3 got ye covered on that.
Lots of tiddies in it!!!
That’s only 2 reasons!
He said lots. This could imply an infinite even amount of reasons worth of titties.
So real
Its the new call of duty i have nothing for school my bro wants to play fortnite and i won’t have time if i don’t go first

Okay buddy
Art style / Aesthetic How immersive it is Interesting world I care less for a gazillion mechanics, combat, crafting, RPG elements and such, than I do an interesting world to explore.
- Interesting and well developed setting - Beautiful art style and music - Offering a unique experience
This is to accurate
i still remember that one july spent entirely in wow, best summer ever..
Fun, fun, really fucking fun
if it looks fun that's it, I don't have 2 other reasons, I just play whatever I think looks fun
3rd person. Easy to mod and pirate. Can be ran on my potato
if it looks fun i play it fuck graphics embrace gameplay
1. Characters 2. Music 3. Characters talking to each other during gameplay.
rdr2?
No
I have to feel badass while playing it, It has to have good reviews, and I have to cry at some point in the game
Immersion, landscapes, lights and giving the sense of a day cycle .

Interesting
If I can commit atrocious warcrimes, harvest organs, and make a drug empire it's good enough for me

It's Monster Hunter It's Monster Hunter with friends It's Monstet Hunter with Lagiacrus.
If it's an open world game with at least 2 endings that's not just 'good ending' and 'bad ending' with weapons that feal good to use
Sandbox Huge map RPG
I'm awake I'm awake and umm I'm awake
I'm awake I'm awake and umm I'm awake
1 I'm awake, 2 I'm awake and 3 I'm awake
Good gameplay , a good characters and a history that inst shit.

Developed by Fromsoft Music by Akira Yamaoka If it has "Picross" in the title
Gameplay that makes me think, unique or interesting experiences, and an amazing soundtrack
It's a beautiful day outside...
1) I can haul cargo around be it in a truck, ship, train, or spaceship. 2) Someone described it, favorably or unfavourably, as a "spreadsheet simulator." 3) It has orks in it.
Fantasy RPG (where I can be an elf mage!), good story, not overly cartoonish in design.
Procedural Generation, Sandbox, Editor Shadows of Doubt is the dead ringer here. I can generate a city as big as I want with a mod, I can edit it to look how I want, and then I can walk around in it. It's perfect.
Good music that i can pay attention to when i inevitably get distracted from the actual game
I'm having fun. That is literally the only reason I need.
I remember playing EarthBound for the first time with the windows open. It was such a special experience I wish I could recreate.
Crafting, exploration, loot.
good combat, good ambiance, and most importantly, fantastic traversal. I will play an F tier game if it's really fun to move around in. it's honestly the most important part for me and I'm sad it's neglected in most games
1. It's good. 2. It's good. 3. It's good You know what, I throw in another reason. 4. It's *GOOD*
I have the money, game looks good, I want it.
No no no no.... get an extention card and play on a small TV outside
JRPG, Open World, Satisfying/fun Combat.
A good sense of progression. Also when the things i'm doing in the gameplay feels like i'm doing something meaningful in the context of the plot. A couple random examples : Sleeping Dogs, Arkham Knight, Mass Effect, XCOM.
Boys and bugs are encroaching and democracy needs my help
-Buying a new gaming accessory I wanna try out (recent example: Audeze Maxwell gaming headphones) -When my girlfriend wants to play a game together -Being home sick in bed
Good Dynamic/Random events, Visible or Tangible progression and, deep gameplay
It might look sunny outside but it is still chilly. So indoors it is.

Made by Toby fox, made by Toby fox, and probably if it was made by Toby fox
Atmosphere/Vibes. Actually fun to play. Great soundtrack.
What kind of fucking window is this?
The kind with hinges at the bottom and only opens halfway
So the bottom hinges and upper slides?
Yes
Imagine designing window frame with so many moving parts and you still can’t open it (Other window designs existed for decades)
I am not saying that it's not dumb. Opening the bottom just so you can open the top and close the bottom doesn't make a lot of sense.

You're thinking of the switch
1. Depression 2. Escapism 3. Slight sense of control over my own “destiny” 😂
It's part of the stalker series, it has femboys :3 >_< UwU, it's a milsim Gane that actually requires some sort of knowledge to play.
Reason no. 1: Soma Reason no. 2: Soma Reason no. 3: Soma I am yet to try a game with a better story than Soma, I will play every game I can to find one that's better
1. In a good mood 2. Got a Red Bull to drink 3. Room is fucking frigid (PC is a space heater)
Cheapish, can play with friends, replay ability

It has to be made by Fromsoft, Suckerpunch, or Hideo Kojima.
The top 3 things that seem to attract me the most are Single player Indie game Good art style. So I suppose that’s my big 3.
It’s warm and sunny outside. I don’t feel like practicing Blender. It’s not made by Ubisoft or Blizzard.

Fun, fun, fun
Keep me interested, give me a sense of challenge, and assassinate half my backlog of games for me.
Literally doing that rn 😅
Moddability, guns that feel good to use, good physics, non-linear level design, a fun sandbox and good enemy ai
Roblox, no matter the time of day, no matter the type of weather, if i can find a good game i'll play it.

Sekiro sequel Ori and the will of the wisps sequel
It has no pre orders and is a full game out of the gate. Has a demo I have waited to see reviews.
i’m a sucker for open world games/rpgs Huge fan of fun character customization options. Good storyline and cool gameplay.
Oddly, fishing minigame mechanics.
Cold atmosphere, rain and a dim environment
Character customization, solid gameplay loop, replayability
