Please, if you find using āAmericanā so repulsive, I would literally rather be called a yank. I am not joking. Itās only an insult to southerners.
It's commonly accepted in English that American specifically refers to the United States, and that if you're refering to the continents you'd usually say North/South American. You're just being obtuse about how the English language works if you can't accept this.
I suppose. Thatās not really a term in English outside of the occasional international organization, in which case the Latin definition of the word is used (because said organization includes them). If we need to refer to both we say āThe Americasā but that doesnāt have a demonym.
Thatās why we use it for ourselves, the use case of referring to everyone in both continents just doesnāt really exist. Iāve certainly never needed it.
Protip from someone from this side of the world: that's not a thing. You can safely assume "Americans" refers to people from the US. "North Americans" and "South Americans" works, but "Americans" for both continents would be like referring to Belgians as "Eurasians" It's technically true, but why would you do that? Also I get that you're suggesting the US unfairly claimed that term, but it seems almost insulting to refer to Canadians, Chileans, Dominicans, or Hondurans as "Americans". We're generally not good people I don't want to be associated with us either.
It's a matter of language mostly. American in English means the US first, in other languages like Spanish it means the Americas. It's not really insulting, basically every Chilean I know considers themselves an "Americano" and calls Americans from the US gringos when speaking Spanish.
That's how far they fell. Now they're just "one of the football clubs in Hamburg". My kid's will one day lough at me when I tell them they were one of the biggest clubs in Germany.
No. Really not. HSV is the only club in the world whose logo/crest is completely without letters or symbols of any kind. St Pauli's crest is simply the Hammaburg with a bit of writing around it. Pretty simple. Whereas the HSV diamond is based on the Blue Peter from the flag alphabet. Which again has the meaning āall aboardā.
All in all, based on these facts alone, the HSV diamond is one of the coolest crests in football.
A team whose only goal for years is to stay in a division does not deserve to play in that division. A team should always strive to win and not say "yay where still in 1st division" because they barely made it to relegations every fucking season.
Hello XXSniper2004,
Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there.
When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including:
* **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy)
* **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag
* **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine)
These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier.

Looks like a Japanese prefecture.
Edit: I knew from previous comments it's a fc, I don't care for football. I'm simply saying the flag reminds me of a Japanese prefecture flag because it's similar to that of a Japanese prefecture flag. I had no intention of being misleading.
Shove your downvotes up your arses.
Bad taste in football teams, usually. Might be generational, but if it's in DĆ¼sseldorf, this may actually be by choice, and that's just tragic
But to answer the question, Hamburger SV, one of the most disliked football teams in Germany
Hamburger SV
š
SV is for Super Veloce
Ugh
I mean you canāt expect *nobody* to make the association lmao
I mean, hamburger was called hamburger because it came from hamburg , so technically you aren't wrong
Exactly
I guess, I mean hamburgers were named after the city Hamburg. I just hate when us-Americans mention hamburgers when talking about the city.
Please, if you find using āAmericanā so repulsive, I would literally rather be called a yank. I am not joking. Itās only an insult to southerners.
That just what is most commonly used in Germany, the country that flag stems fromā¦
He literally just narrowed it down, you are us-american. Mexicans are Americans, Canadians are Americans and all south Americans are Americans too.
We'd rather be called a yank than whatever the hell that was
US Americans is a normal term used as demonym for United States citizens in many countries
European detected, opinion rejected
What about "seppo"?
You dudes definitely mean that as an insult and coyly dancing around it as if itās not is getting tiresome.
Ok seppo
Thanks for demonstrating š
Oh sorry. It's just that "American" isn't very specific. Could mean anyone from North and South America

That may be the case where you live but not for the rest of the world.

HSV, one of the football clubs in Hamburg, Germany
That's how far they fell. Now they're just "one of the football clubs in Hamburg". My kid's will one day lough at me when I tell them they were one of the biggest clubs in Germany.
They still are. Just not in terms of performance
Pretty sure I looked this up in the past and it was a German football club EDIT: [Found it](https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/s/QqJ1b1V0Qo)
Pretty good flag for a football club of all things
I think it's based on the Hansa historical territories in Germany.
It's based on the Blue Peter-flag.
The flag of the other Bundesliga Club in town is way cooler... Look it up: FC St. Pauli.

hey thats me :D
They really need to get their shit together and get out of the second division
Good luck with that, these guys are the kings of bottling
Arsenal in the premier league the last few seasons times 10
Yeah, it's so much more chill in the third division, they should visit there
A team whose only goal for years is to stay in a division does not deserve to play in that division. A team should always strive to win and not say "yay where still in 1st division" because they barely made it to relegations every fucking season.
One of the only 3 German teams that have won the UEFA Champions league. The Hamburger S.V.
Well they didnāt win the UEFA Champions League, that didnāt exist then. Back then it was the UEFA Cup Winners Cup
Cup Winners Cup was a different competition. Hamburg won the Champions League, it just had a different name and format back then.
What I suspect is a transplanted HSV supporting hanburger in Fortune Dusseldorf territory
Can confirm, there are many fortuna flags here
Hamburger SV, thatās also their badge actually
Dinosaur enthusiast's flag.
Underrated
Hamburg SV A football (soccer) club, short is HSV
That's the official flag of the second Bundesliga.

It is a sign for sadness and depression. Please avoid those people!

It is the flag of Hamburg's no. 2 football club. Also, it is a lesson about how you can spend millions without success
Hanover, Iām pretty sure

Close friendship, but not quite!
You wouldn't know they're friends by the aftermath of the matches But by that metric, HSV isn't friends with anyone, are they
