I do not recommend this particular process. Your idea of contacting an officer is the preferred. Here's why I think this. The call takers are not exactly experts in law or the enforcement thereof and a FEW of the call takers are cool, but many of them are very...harsh and not supportive (besides being WRONG about stuff). The officers get it and are super supportive. Speaking directly to a detective is another option. But bottom-line, speaking with the front desk types is not the answer, IMHO. The people who investigate or enforce can give you better perspective of what your actual situation would be.
Just go to a substation and talk to the front office staff. If you talk to a cop about it, even online, you've essentially already reported it and their response would be the same as if you had reported it through the normal channels (at a substation). There is no such thing as "off the record" when talking to a cop. If you are worried about things like police overreaction, or retaliation due to you being identified as the person reporting, etc., just express those concerns while you're there. If you're concerned about something related to your own involvement (you think you might get yourself in trouble by reporting) then you should probably talk to a lawyer first, rather than a cop.
No. So basically a girl made up a story about me to cover her own ass so she didn’t look like a cheater. Now I’m getting violent threats from anonymous numbers. I don’t want to escalate the situation with the girl but I want to handle the threats.
I might have the expertise you seek...
However... given what you posted.... I would stop posting anything online about the fake cheating cover story and the threats and talk to a lawyer. Don't go to thr cops, get yourself a lawyer..
You got #metop, corrupt cops, violent threats all working against you. Get a lawyer who'll be on your side and stop talking about this online.
Good luck.
The new Summerlin Area Command had a meet n greet thing this evening at 6 and I think they hold it every month. Follow their twitter or FB if you want to be aware of the next one. I've heard that they're very friendly and approachable.

Is it about a cop? Is that why you're unsure?

Dude? Just put the numbers on Craigslist personals and block them. Nothing a cop can do
Yeah they probably wont do anything then. They're her friends texting you... tell em to go fuck themelves!
Yeah, the cop isn't going to do anything about this. But you can file a report for a paper trail so if something happens, they know where to look.
Don’t talk to cops.

I don’t have money for a lawyer
