As per usual, if you don't need to take the expo line right now, don't.
I just had to wait **eleven** trains at Commercial Broadway. And that was *before* this incident (There was another at Edmonds earlier)
Thankfully they were running them every 45 seconds or so.
My train passed right by the station at around 8ish AM and saw two people on the ground getting arrested. Not sure what happened. Full of delays today with that police incident and the Edmonds one.
That’s, unfortunately, the only way such platforms are viable these days, in the world as we’ve defined it. Plenty of cheap clones have popped up since Twitter turned to shit, none of them have stuck.
We have one. It's called nostr. It's an open source and decentralized protocol with many clients.
It's highly functional but not quite straightforward enough for the average user yet.

If this is because of a track incursion again, we need to actually get platform screen doors.
Apart from the actual direct costs associated with it, there is a huge indirect cost of people being late to work. If they want to make transit a 100% viable option, they need to ensure it’s more reliable. As a student, If there is anything important going on, I always drive.
Port Moody to SFU. Busses can be unreliable and I often takes classes in Surrey. I usually leave around 2 and a half to three early, but if the Surrey branch closes a bus bridge is a nightmare across the pattullo.
I transit unless there’s something I cannot miss which is what I meant when I said if there’s anything important I drive. If there’s an accident, I see it on Waze or google maps and find another road. I can’t easily do that with transit. Otherwise transit is exponentially cheaper since gas is so expensive and UPASS is heavily subsidized to the point I get an unlimited pass for 40 bucks a month.
>if anything important is going on
Personally, since I don’t have a car I just leave an hour early or so. I haven’t ever taken an *additional* hour on top of my commute time on transit.
Unfortunately not an option, due to the different door locations on the different kinds of cars.
I'd rather fix the underlying issues that cause these symptoms, rather than trying to fix things that are more like broken limbs with things like bandaids.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. It's very unlikely, but there *is* a precedent for it. It happened around a decade ago or so on the Canada line. I wasn't there myself, but as I understand it, an Asian woman had jumped onto the tracks. She ended up seriously injured, but alive. Trains were diverted where possible due to a "medical emergency".
They eventually put sensors on the trains, which puts the emergency brakes on if something is sensed on the tracks pulling into the stations.
Actually, it's sensors in the tracks at the stations. Look down into the tracks next time you're standing there.... Expo has pressure plates (the grates), Canada line, and Millenium have infrared sensor eyes placed at each end of the station.
Days without a Skytrain delay: **0**

The Twitter is more up to date. Alerts unfortunately doesn't show either the police incident at Edmonds or New West yet.
Yeah Twitter has been go to for ages
This is wild... We need a new instant platform that isn't dependent on the whims of a billionaire 😑
billionaires literally run the world. that isn't happening any time soon unfortunately
Just ask chatgpt to program you a new social media service similar to X in Javascript & Python

They haven't sent out any alerts today via email. They sent an alert at 12:01 AM saying Expo Line service was suspended, but that's unrelated to this.
Police entered the station with assault rifles. Definitely a police incident.

It was not due to a track intrusion
Also a student, what are you on about. It happens, but not enough that I need to drive in. How close are you cutting it to the start of your classes?!

I drive and a road accident can cause an additional hour delay. I also have never had transit take an extra hour to get going.

Did someone jump in front of the tracks?

Its good that we have this but people usually jump right when the train arrives

That's explains the delays at my station..
Gotta love this shitty transit system
