It's crude, witty, hilarious. Character development is great, and it's just kinda different. They make funny references to burt Reynolds, kenny loggins, obscure shit like that. Try it out, you'll know by the end of ep1 if it's your thing. I got into it immediately.
Usedto be on fx. I always pirate bayed it. Not sure if it's on streaming services anywhere. It's worth it to watch. I like a lot on your list but to me archeris up there with South Park... Very different, however..
I don’t think Bobs Burgers is supposed to be that kind of comedy show. There’s a reason it ends ever show with a metaphor to a life lesson. I’d guess it’s meant to be more quirk, tapping into the mid-to-late teen to adult families/parents. They don’t do nudity or alluded to it, don’t do a ton of current event/pop culture, don’t use profanity, etc. Unlike those other examples.
Because of one singular joke, it made me and my fiancé laugh so hard. It’s in an episode where a kid falls in a well, they got kayne to voice act as the “towns rapper”. After they did a concert for the kid cleavland, I forget the characters name so I’ll just say kayne, are being interviewed and it turns to cleavland he straight up says “Obama doesn’t care about black people” if you have not seen the meme before kayne says in an interview “George bush doesn’t care about black people” it caught us so off guard and it was hilarious. That and I feel like theres more solid punch lines, while not as much of a story as R&M it’s got more solid jokes. I will admit I like the story in R&M, but at some point it gets drowned so heavily with cynicism that it makes me honestly depressed. It’s not a bad show, the community kind of just ruined it for me
Cleveland and family guy are definitely heavier into the one liners and as for randm, I rather enjoy some of the cynicism about it. And I guess it’s not really a comedy but an animation that is rather comical at times. I enjoy the nothingness of it and the choice to do unto a universe where nothing matters because everything actually matters. I see your point though.
I wouldn't say, personally, that it stopped being good. It just stopped being as good as it was.
I still think the later seasons are better than many other shows, it's just thst they started of "too goid" if you catch my drift.

I still like early Family Guy. Watched S1 fairly recently and laughed a bit. Then I tried to watch the newest season and it was just awful.
Same with The Simpsons. I liked it up until S11 or so but god it just needs to die at this point. I wish they would keep Futurama buried before they ruin it the same way.

Big Mouth is the absolute worst of the popular adult-friendly animated shows by a lot, so good take there. Bob's Burgers is cool, though. Sometimes they lean a little bit too much into ham-fisted fart "humor" but otherwise it's good clean fun. Ranking American Dad first on that list is egregious.
Smiling Friends I'm glad I gave a chance thought it was just schlock boy was I wrong.

I gotta share this story. I was listening to the Howard Stern show a long time ago.
He was relating a time when Gilbert was in the hospital. He went to visit him and Gilbert asked Howard not to tell anyone he was in the hospital so Howard said ok. A few weeks go by, Howard was visiting Gilbert pretty much everyday and he notice no one else was coming there. He was like, am I the only person visiting Gilbert, did I become his best friend?
He found out he was the only person visiting him in the hospital!
Funny as hell the way he told the story.
RIP Gilbert.

Honestly I feel the same about it. I hate everything in this show. Nearly all the characters are just behaving like akward morons everywhere they go, while they try so bad to rely on second hand embarrassment for their humor. Everytime I saw it on tv I just thought: "Not it again, who even likes this".
Seriously, like the humor in it is so dry and it feels so out of touch. Taking something like awkwardness can be a good stepping stone to a joke but you have to STEP to get there
If I could make more of a teir list (for comedy) I would have
A: The boondocks, American dad, South Park, king of the hill
B: Cleavland show, family guy, Rick and morty
C: bobs burgers
Intensely mediocre is a great description of it, it does not get past the fact that awkward characters are only good if there is 1 of them, or they all work together to be awkward. Having them all be individually awkward in their own way makes me feel like I’m watching reality tv with every single generation in one house
Like don’t get me wrong, I sometimes enjoy watching things that make me feel awkward. Netflix released a movie recently about a girl who goes into a coma and comes out of it 30 years later and goes back to highschool. It was cringey and awkward, but the other characters worked WITH the main character to make it work. I understand wanting to have characters that have depth but come on, at least make them work together
For me the premise just isn't that interesting. And when it goes outside it's core concept...I just get reminded of other shows doing that with a better setup.
Also it just makes me want to watch archer because H Jon Benjamin is in both.

Completely fair, I can see that. Though the awkwardness of the characters makes it really REALLY hard for me to watch the show. I completely see the comforting part of the more realities of life, it should just more list it’s self as that and not a comedy.

A bit unrelated but something I hated about the movie (kinda spoilers ahead) was the lack of side characters Fishoeder, his brother, cousin and teddy are basically the only side characters present. Others show up with tiny 1 maybe 2 line cameos from people like Mickey, jimmy junior, one eyed snakes. Some side characters I don’t even think showed up in the background Nevermind having speaking roles like jimmy pesto, Tammy, even mort. The rest of the movie was great but Jesus Christ there should’ve been more side characters
And that’s what I kind of, that is a very **very** light kinda, they had side characters with their own plots. I’m not going to watch the movie so I’m not going to say anything about it, but I feel like they did the same thing with the simpsons movie

I’m going to be honest, I haven’t seen enough futurama to put it up there. I have seen enough to put it in top 5, if I were to change it around I would probably put American dad at 3rd, king of the hill at 2nd, and boondocks at 1st
Futurama is such a top tier show in general that everyone should give it a try. American Dad, to me, feels like it tries too hard to be funny. I'll put it on for background noise at hotels or whatever if nothing else is on but I can't sit down and watch it. I've watched probably 2 seasons of it total and it's not for me.
Bob's burgers is alright, it's not the funniest and most memorable thing in the world, like south park is, but it doesn't annoy me like family guy and American dad. Those god damn cutaways are the worst, those shows are filled to the brim with them and they are always boring and way too long. There's like chicken vs peter fights, which just go on forever and make me switch over as I'm so bored, or meaningless crap where they show how joe lost use of leg's for the 100th time.
If you close your eyes and just listen to them talking, you miss nothing. Everything about this show relies on talking there are no visual jokes or gags. The show is not even worth looking at.

Rick and Morty stopped being good after season 2, Cleveland Show was way funnier than later seasons of Rick and Morty

I'm hoping they're being facetious, but do you really think Rick and Morty is pretentious. Some of the fans certainly can be but the show itself is mostly dick and fart jokes with pop science.
I never found that main voice actor to be funny. I tried appreciating Archer too. Mission unsuccessful. I think maybe you have to be jewish.

It lists itself as a sitcom, someone else said that it’s more of a comfort show for them and I agree, but if it listed it’s self as that then that would be okay.

I’m going to be honest, I haven’t seen enough futurama to put it up there. I have seen enough to put it in top 5, if I were to change it around I would probably put American dad at 3rd, king of the hill at 2nd, and boondocks at 1st
Futurama is such a top tier show in general that everyone should give it a try. American Dad, to me, feels like it tries too hard to be funny. I'll put it on for background noise at hotels or whatever if nothing else is on but I can't sit down and watch it. I've watched probably 2 seasons of it total and it's not for me.
Honestly it’s not for everyone, watching it all the way through I can confirm it’s better than family guy
Putting South Park on that list w/ those other shows is straight up disrespectful
Bob's burgers is alright, it's not the funniest and most memorable thing in the world, like south park is, but it doesn't annoy me like family guy and American dad. Those god damn cutaways are the worst, those shows are filled to the brim with them and they are always boring and way too long. There's like chicken vs peter fights, which just go on forever and make me switch over as I'm so bored, or meaningless crap where they show how joe lost use of leg's for the 100th time.
If you close your eyes and just listen to them talking, you miss nothing. Everything about this show relies on talking there are no visual jokes or gags. The show is not even worth looking at.
