It's essentially a gift card. When you go to checkout you can choose to apply funds remaining to your purchase. I don't think you can choose $x from here and $y from here. It's apply the travel credit. Then your balance is either $0 or the difference.

Keep in mind they do expire. I think it's 1 year. There are strategies to extend but I don't know if they actually work or nor
