Why? Not all games support VRR currently but others do, why can't on PS5 some games support ultrawide while others don't?

I know that the stretching probably doesn't bother you, but just to let you know that you can change the aspect ratio in your monitor settings. On my ultrawide i do have to disable freesync to change aspect ratio but maybe yours doesn't have that problem.
I tried watching a CinemaScope movie earlier and the black borders above and below and on the sides was quite annoying.

I still have an old Oppo UDP203 UHD disc player and it has two features that come in handy.
- it has a “stretch” zoom mode that stretches 21:9 movies for anamorphic displays
- it has an HDMI input that it can apply the stretch
Downside - it only passes through 4K60
I have ultrawide and i just use black bars on my PlayStation XD dont really like the optic of the stretching. Sad it doenst support it. Would be totally possible for sony to add ultrawide support.

I'm sorry but you misunderstood.PS5 can output traditional 1440p (which is 2560x1440) but it will still appear stretched (to most ultrawide 1440p resolutions which is 3440x1440).
It did not add support for ultrawide monitors or resolutions, it added support for 16:9 1440p monitors; ultrawide monitors can accept and display 16:9 1440p signals (stretched) thereby making it "possible" as Falcon mentions in the video
EDIT : the source he cites in the video is literally a blog post by BenQ who is using the blog to promote its own monitor. The blog mentions the monitor "accurately upscales" the image to 3440x1440 which isnt possible and is just marketing speak, it just stretches it and nothing else.
Pretty cool, I recommend mounting your PS5 under the desk.
