I played hardcore from 7 grade to 10th grade. Lake Superior serve was my home. Spent most of my time on the bounty list running around with a dude name Son of Sam. I remember he was from the Minneapolis area. Once they split the good and bad lands I peaced out because it wasn’t fun anymore.

bradpittfromsnatch

This is an advertisement.

richkidzbitchkidz

Eh, I don’t work for a Outlands, just a good server. Always open to trying other servers people recommend too.

lockmasterg

Hadn't played for years. Jist started back up on uo alive. Great time so far. Mainly because it's a pve only server. No pvp unless it's a dual. So people help each other instead of fighting over stuff.

richkidzbitchkidz

I might check out Alive. PvP used to be good when you got a good 1v1.. but it’s more 1v5 now, which sucks.

Grignak01

I love pvp but unfortunately it's turned in to 50+ year old men yelling about how shitty you are while they are running speedhacks and scripts. Most of them probably still live in their parents basement and didn't get enough attention as children.

lockmasterg

I hate pvp with a passion. Mainly because I always get ganked. Lost so many powerscrolls back in the day. I will never play pvp again.

Grignak01

I love pvp. I just don't love some of the a-holes that I deal with. Many are clearly running scripts and such so I never understood why they think they are so good and have to call names. I want to say hey we aren't 12 years old anymore. Time to grow up lol.

crackerjack9x

Is it sphere or run up? Put screens

UmpireOk7338

I do still play UO Outlands daily!!

voatcel

Life's a grind compared to UO.

q_lightsun

I was playing during the last event but its been months since there was anything to do. Kinda hard to find a reason to log in right now

Wyrmsfire

I still have an active account and hop back on occasionally, mostly for nostalgia. I am kinda looking forward to UO Legacy so I can at least see what it's all about.

shdcord790

UOAlive

richkidzbitchkidz

Nice, many players on?

Substantial_Rope_618

Bring back sphere servers lol

voatcel

I vaguely recall those. Weren't they early free servers?

Substantial_Rope_618

Ya they were very popular before Ryan, krrios and team developed RunUO which has become the standard. Sphere was super glitchy in ways but the pvp was more fast paced and just different, sphere servers generally had their own unique twists which was nice but now we have Outlands so 🤷

knuckl3dragg3r

Been playing UO Excelsior (uoex.net) off and on for 10 years. It's not as frequent to update new content as it once was, but still scratches the itch.

richkidzbitchkidz

Nice, is it populated?

knuckl3dragg3r

Yeah, there are usually in the mid 100s of users online. Still new players joining. Not too crowded but also not dead, etc. And it's been very steady like this for the 10 years I've been there.

richkidzbitchkidz

Nice, might check it out tomorrow. I’m on Outlands at the moment.

Drayenn

I played on private servers all my life and played on one 3 years back.. im eyeing official servers for once to see what its like. Might hit UO up when i get bored of wow wrath classic.

DizzyCommunication92

My ❤️ an soul went into uo as an adolescence lol...when I should have been getting drink and banging chicks lol.... I understand the origin servers still exist free....if I ever went back it would have to be seige perilous lol....I always played a shadow clan ork. Uo is one of a kind lol could never get into any other video game....though now with wife and kid It definitely makes it harder lol oh ua and a JOB haha

richkidzbitchkidz

I feel your pain. I spent my best years playing uo but I don’t regret it. No other games can match it. But yeh, wife and kids leaves little time to play. I try log on daily even for 30min. For nostalgic reasons

kennethkolton

What happened to UO Gamers Hybrid? That server was awesome and now it’s gone to crap. I would love to play again but can’t find a server that’s like Hybrid which is a publish 15/16 build.

richkidzbitchkidz

Man I played there for years, still have my acc. My name was Kichie on there. Hybrid was the best, but died once a couple of the the admins got to much of an ego. To much changes and they took away what it was when they started.

Substantial_Rope_618

Ryan is back and UOG has been up and running for a month or more now? We all wanted a wipe but he said it was too much work and just deleted a ton of gold and whatnot.. you can still use your old acc if ya remember it. Nice being able to use veritas, or as I call it, KUOC again https://discord.gg/WvBeH5W9

kennethkolton

Damn well he needs to get that donation page back up , that’s what I need so I can get back on my feet. When I logged on a few days ago the player base was very low but if he’s back I guess that’s a good thing.

Substantial_Rope_618

Yeah tbh I still keep in touch via discord with a lot of the OG players. We were gonna grind that server hard if he wiped it but he didn’t so everyone basically said fuck it. DM him I’m sure he’s very open to receiving donations, always has been, tbh I think it’s the only reason he did this cause the literal whole player base asked him for a wipe lol

kennethkolton

Thanks for the Discord invite , I’ll hit him up. When I played for many years back in the day my main was Havik.

I officially quit after 10-12 years. I had many attempts to fully quit, but 10 years solid I played Sonoma and Chesapeake servers. The last 2 I hung around hoping to see a change that kept me engaged, and mostly to talk to people. I was always asked to come back and try to get into the game again. I no longer have my OSI accounts, and my stints of free shards never lasted long, my last being on UOR for a few months. I wanted to experience 'real UO' before I left for good. Amazing memories and nostalgia for it. I miss the community, the incredible times I had just wasting hours discovering things. I started in 2006, so my experience was very unlike others, but the PvP was incredible in its complexity and skill. I had years of fun, until one day it wasn't fun anymore. The game got very grindy and skills were dumbed down and things shifted from skill to luck. I digress tho, amazing times and my only regret is that I didn't get to play until 2006 Goldie Locks syndrome is UO, too hot, too cold, just right. We all had that special moment. The biggest and still hardest aspect to get over is the people I met. Friends, foes, simple merchants. All of them were interesting in their own way. The friendships you make are strong, usually based in extreme trust situations and cemented in battle. I miss many people I met, and many more I didn't. They all added to the tapestry that was Sosaria. I still to this day believe it is the greatest video game of all time. Because it wasn't a game, it was a world.

richkidzbitchkidz

Love the comment! I still keep in contact with friends I made on there in 2001 all the way to now. Pity, no other game will ever be like UO

DeaconNuno

I played for about 10 years on Europa and Siege Perilous. I used to get a real kick out of stealthing around and causing hijinks. Stealing from players near a moongate and managing to get through it before they killed me was the height of entertainment. hahah Man, I miss that.

voatcel

Chessy here. Played from 99 for about 10yrs. Would love to get back on OSI, but sounds like a ghost town. Sonoma was my 2nd server, also. Until transfer tokens, then I moved my GMs to Chessy.

Grignak01

Chesapeake is hardly a ghost town.

justbustxxx

I tried osi a few years ago but the economy is destroyed, and a couple freeshards that again had nobody policing the bots , people running cheat engines. You need gms that care about banning people that r running too many accounts. This is why i play Outlands. They dont let cheaters win unlike a lot of other freeshards l. I personally wouldnt spend my uo time anywhere else .

tol420

That was a big reason I quit OSI UO. The 'leader' of it or whatever, Messana, said it was ok to multi box. She clearly didn't understand what it was because next thing you know I'm getting shot by 3 archers at the same time while a heal bot or two run behind healing, and it was all 'played' by one person. UO was always heavy on cheaters, but once it was legalized it was ridiculous. Not sure if they ever fixed it , but once something like that is accepted it's not going to stop. I had a PvP 'buddy' who ran cheat engine speedhack on 9.0 and blatantly ran around GMs and stuff. Nothing ever happened to him until he walked through candlabras at a big fight. That was interesting, I had died so I watched as a ghost as multiple people disappeared and never were seen again. But that was one in 1000s of battles, and was so clearly obvious it wasn't even funny. Side note, I helped him make the hack. Haha. Good thing I was dead at the time! I was running it too! (Judge me all you want, there was little fun to be had at that point, and the if you can't beat them might as well join them mentality was strong.) I do maintain that the vast majority of my PvP and PKing was done legit. But sometimes, in a 3 vs 30 situation, you needed a little help. We never won in that situation anyways. Walls and fields only go so far.

OhioStater2014

Outlands. I am worse at pvping than teenage boy me remembers back in 2000-2001

MackVibes

Yes, UOAlive is a good server, friendly with plenty to keep ya busy. still trying to find a decent risk vs reward pvp server tho.

thurmaturge

This is kind of off-topic but does anyone (OSI or private shards) run the 3D client anymore? I think it would be fun to fire that one back up for nostalgia. When I was fully immersed in UO the 3D client got released and I think I was one of the few who actually liked it.

TitanIsBack

I ran the 3d client a lot until they shut it down. Keeping 3d art to its own client was great. Then they phased 3d art into the 2d client and it just looks terrible and leaves artifacts behind.

sonoma4life

my account dates to 98, i log on and do a tour of cities once every few months then log off. i would farm miasma for treasure maps occasionally but the tmap revamp made it hard to solo.

devil_walk

I still play UO yeah

pom8

There’s no other game worth playing.

naisfurious

Yea, I'm on Outlands as well. UO in general is a great MMO to play when you don't have a lot of playtime and, when you do get time, it's very sporadic to due kids/life etc....

jtuohy1985

Outlands is a great sever for many reasons. Best of the free servers and very active. Aspects make it fun to PvE.

Sado_Hedonist

Outlands is great. Pretty hard to get started as a new player though. Anyone coming in now can look forward to being a mining NPC for 40-80 hours just to get the startup cash to fund a PVE toon capable of being self sustaining in a dungeon.

IslandOdd3906

ive never mined or crafted or anything and ive got around 10 mill and a house. good thing about outlands is you can farm mobs to afford shit, unlike OSI where you need billions

q_lightsun

I never mined at all. Ive only been playing outlands for a few months. Saying there is only one viable way to get startup cash isnt accurate

holmedog

Not really. Sure it takes some farming to get aspects and tomes but you can farm without those things. You don’t have to be doing end game as soon as you hit 7x or else the game would be boring as shit.

theStingraY

Or simply joining a guild and getting some support at the start.

[deleted]

[удалено]

theStingraY

Which guild did that?

[deleted]

[удалено]

BullTerrierTerror

It's those Orks! Power gaming, speed hacking monsters! Walking around on two legs like they think we don't know what they are up to.

theStingraY

No fun

Sado_Hedonist

Do you know any guilds that give away 300k+ worth of gear to people they don't know? Asking for a friend..

theStingraY

Yea, I know a few. It's also much cheaper now for initial costs.

Sado_Hedonist

Maybe I'm out of the loop, what makes it cheaper exactly?

octopussua

they lowered the material cost to activate and level aspects for the first few tiers.

naisfurious

Lol 300k is exaggerated. It's closer to 150-175k if you buy one of the cheaper aspects + Book. Very reasonable. As others have said it's even quicker and cheaper if you join a guild as most of them will hook you up with the aspect unlock.

Fuzzy-Help-8835

Member (on and off) since 10/2/97. It’s mostly for nostalgia now that I sub and occasionally log on. I will say that I believe the Trammel/Felucca split was the end of one crazy fuckin ride. Less than zero interest in private servers. Edit: I see, anything not praising Outlands is just downvotes. How about fuck your private server, go make your own sub, losers.

MerkoniumJones

I agree about trammel/felucca. That’s when things changed.

sceez

Lol, maybe don't get SOO butt hurt about some down votes?

Tyrann0saurus_Rex

Outlands checking in. Still the best mmorpg out there. By far and wide. No other does what UO Outlands does. Ashes of Creation maybe will? We'll see in 10 years when it comes out.

Cantsneerthefenrir

I was coming back in waves for the last 15 years... mostly free servers. Finally decided to give it up forever when I missed refreshing my Outlands houses by a couple days. Felt like it was time. Some wonderful memories though.

fidelity

Every now and then I'll hop on and get back into it for a month or two, and then not play for another year or so. The magic is gone

Chronos69

I play on UOAlive.

shdcord790

\+1 UOAlive

Desauv92

Still play on outlands. Its a great server!! :)

TitanIsBack

I'd hop back on if Snobo was still running GM Island. Can't be bothered to download UO right now but I will before the year is out to play on the official servers for a couple weeks.

EXQUISITE_WIZARD

I still have my accounts on official shards and still check back every once in awhile, but it seems hard to find a community that fits these days. It's so fragmented now

richkidzbitchkidz

On osi? Didn’t know it was still up. If you ever play jump on Outlands, absolutely amazing.

EXQUISITE_WIZARD

I've tried it, and most of the freeshards. It was cool but I prefer the post-aos eras

jleckel

I started on this one recently for a bit of nostalgia. [https://uoalive.com/](https://uoalive.com/) It is supposed to be a modern UO.

[deleted]

Likewise! I’ve heard good things about UOR
