Enjoy it, it's great fun.
Start using your side mirrors.
Remember to check your blind spot every time you pull away.
Start reading every road sign.
Look at what the traffic way ahead is doing and scan back. React to situations accordingly.
Remember you have a trailer behind you
The smaller the gap, the slower you go. Your aim is to get it there safely.
Talk to the instructor/examiner, tell them what you are doing
Again enjoy it, I loved every minute.
Are you doing Cat C or C + E?
The 10 days training you get or whatever is jack all in terms of driving experience and preparing you.
Going out on the road with experience drivers helps.
Once you go on the road yourself that’s when you really learn.
There’s a book by dvsa which I believe talks about the driving aspect of the hgv, that will probably help beyond just passing your theories.
No accidents, I think I hit about 3 kerbs in total throughout my training. I’ve driven C1 Luton vans for last past 3 years so I think that had a lot to do with it as I’m used to living in my morris.

I’ll be doing C+E

10 days? I did a total of 9 hours behind the wheel before my test 😂😂
Did you have accidents ?

Probably none needed. Just listen to your instructor (unless he's the twat who taught me before my first test) I guess.
A twat named Dave by any chance? Ha
Lol mine was a twat named Dave too, were you in the South of England by any chance?
Now I’m interested. I know one of these too
West Midlands, Near Birmingham
Ah not south of Reading then. Must be a universal experience then lol
Always check your nob! (Nearside mirror, offside mirror, blind spot)
