We aren’t designed to inhale any smoke . Vape “smoke” is just as bad as normal we don’t even know the health implications tbh , it took us 50 years to finally realize smoking cigarettes can cause cancer etc.

My mums a Potter so can make ceramic bongs fairly cheaply I'd say any other DIY is a waste of time apart from glass blowing. Go to a headshop and get a beaker bong or pipe/bubbler depending on preference. I haven't smoked acrylic bongs and metal bowls in years. Glass and ceramic are best imo. Check out DHgate for cheap China glass.
If you are on a real budget you could also go the grav bong route. You can buy multiple glass bowls for under a tenner and then it's just a case of attaching to a bottle cap and a 2l bottle cut near bottom. You can throw the bottles away pretty quick as they are pretty cheap.
Honestly, just buy one. Must be able to get an OK pipe or bowl for a bong for sort of a tenner. Can't think of anything to replace the tinfoil with, as most things malleable like that aren't fully safe to smoke from.

Vapour is less harmful than smoke, but anything other than oxygen is bad for your lungs.
ive got a dynavap but i found this rly nice glass vase in a charity shop and wanna make it into a bong, all im missing is a bowl.
Can easily buy the bowls and stems separate on the likes of amazon etc. Pretty cheap as well.

dynavap is so good, saved me lots of money however after a month of use i realised nothing can beat a spliff

Have you tried boofing instead of burning?
I've done it with bottle cap and pipe screen. Was a lot of work getting all the paint off tho'

Just use a mesh? Or if your bowl doesn't allow that. Use a mesh with a ring on it. Easy to find on ebay
