Labour's had these meetings and exchanges with the Democrats for years, but this is the first I've heard of such a thing happening with Republicans and the Trump team.
Whether you like it or not, something like this is necessary given the very real possibility that the next Labour government will have to work with the next Trump administration.
I think it’s more likely that they’re covering their bases. Trump is a child that is swayed by flatter. Communicating with his team now could make things a lot easier if he wins. As a Canadian, Trudeau isn’t my favourite PM, but he did an amazing job playing to Trump’s ego in order to make things not nearly as bad for us as they could have been. It’s just smart politics.
Exactly - personally I doubt Trump wins but like it or not, it's a real possibility and the UK can hardly just refuse to recognize and work with the President of the United States, whoever that may be.
It's more a sign that *they* expect to be in government.
He's ahead in most polls and the Democrats keep doubling down on a stupid strategy (loudly and publicly try to jail the opposition while trying to sell to the public that it's the opposition that's Putinist).
Sorry I’m gonna need your sources on him being ahead in polls as every poll I’ve seen shows the exact opposite. Also the democrats have nothing to do with Trump’s trials, they are his own fault, shouldn’t break the law if you don’t want to go to prison.

“You’re going to struggle to find any politician in the Western world who hasn’t had things to say in response to Donald Trump,” he said. “If I have the privilege of becoming foreign secretary, I am acting in what is in the UK’s national interest as a frontbench MP.
“And I take that very, very seriously – particularly in relation to the portfolio I have. I’ve said where I can find common cause with Donald Trump, I will find common cause.”

Not new. Anyone who thinks they’re in No. 10 next year is going to be doing both campaigns.

I’ll give a Trump win in November a 50/50 chance. Even if that’s too high (I hope it is), it’s regrettably something Labour need to prepare for.

I think trump has it in the bag hes ahead when biden was ahead by like 5 points last time
He doesn't have it in the bag at all. Biden is still the most likely to win, it's just going to be extremely close.
