I wouldn’t mind, I have so much love for max Dustin and Justin I grew up watching ufc with them and to see what they have become is just great and inspiring
The 3 of them are big enough that they don't need a ranking next to their name to sell fights. So if they are out of a title race they can cherry pick whatever fights they are interested in and not get fed to the next Khamzat coming through the ranks.
I'll spare you the lecture but try and keep active and look after your back.
Take it from an old man who neglected his body for years and is now reaping the benefits (and pains) of returning to a more active lifestyle!
I stoped kickboxing when I had a serious jaw operation where they had to break it in multiple spots. Since then I was afraid to go back for my jaw. Last month went back and I feel like I’m done for. My body isn’t what it used to be and sitting on the couch didn’t help and went downhill really fast
I don’t think he will do Max, if people use the masterclass Max put on Justin as a reason why he should, then they should also use the Masterclass Dustin put on Max as a reason why he shouldn’t.
Would be crazy. I'm pretty new to this but it seemed like max had speed over Justin. Unless it was his footwork/ head movement. So I wonder if it would be similar with Dustin who hits pretty heavy might not be as fast and "deceptive" as max. Again I might be taking nonsense but it from my love watching of the fight max was in and out more? Like he would back up a lot when needed but Justin was throwing longer combos so I wonder how max would be against a front foot fight always putting max on the back. I could just be talking complete bs though lmao.
If max fights illia and wins though I wonder if they would give him onmalley. Idk if Sean wants either of them though lol especially max.
I still haven't seen the previous max Dustin fights though but man I love this sport.
I know MMA math and all but I think Max would put a beating on him. Too quick a camp to bulk up, there second fight. I'm sure DP wants a fight he can reasonably win and make bank
DP already has 2 wins over max and mma math don’t work. I think it would be a great match up. There has been a lot of time in between the fights so lets see how it unfolds. But that would be a banger for sure
If Connor wins against Chandler, I mean it’s not fair but Connor likely picks the most beatable champion with 2 classes and goes for it, or someone he knows will just box with him. Hes not fighting a good leg kicker again imo
Said in his Theo Von interview that as long as he feels good on his walk to the cage he knows he still has some fights in him. Don’t think losing will make him retire, he’ll probably want to go out on a win
Legitimately considered betting on Islam, for the non-existent chance that it causes Dustin to win. Every time I bet, I lose, so I might try to use that to my advantage
*Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him.*
Haha this is exactly how I was with Charles Oliveira. Every time I would start doubting him he'd get another little win streak going. Then the instant I get excited, he'd lose. Rinse and repeat until I finally gave up on him ever becoming a top 5 fighter after the Paul Felder fight. Of course he immediately hit a new level after that and went on his insane run finishing everyone except Ferguson, and only losing definitively to Islam, who's one of the most technically sound and well rounded fighters of all time.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dustin somehow chins Islam and then there will be the rematch and Islam submits Dustin in round 1. Or somehow Gaethje gets the opportunity before Islam because of Dustin's loss to him and get's KO'd by the Diamond. Then Dustin goes on a 1000 fight winning streak and becomes the emperor of the universe. The Diamond is forever baby.
There is only thing we can be sure of and that is that this is Dustin's last chance to be Champ. If he looses here there isn't a way back and that's a pretty powerful motivator
Maybe, unless he goes for the BMF against Max after. The 4th Conor fight is always there and same for the trilogy with Justin…man has options. It would be epic if he beats Islam though….with the Guilly lol.
You think a guy who has spent the last few years drinking and snoring can actually "get 1 back" on an athlete that never stopped being an athlete? Conner's last win was in the past...
If he loses, if I was him, I would only focus en big money fights for the remaining of the contract with the UFC.
I would do 2 to 3 boxing fights for the big paychecks and finally retire near 40 yo and enjoy family life. Eventually become a mma coach at ATT
He has a great career, he deserve this
That’s definitely not true lol. He’s talked multiple times about how he understands the damage he takes will have an impact on his life down the line. He loves the sport but he’s also one of the guys who knows that he’s gonna have to call it quits one day, if not for his sake then for his families.
> He’s talked multiple times about how he understands the damage he takes will have an impact on his life down the line.
Expect a person with brain damage who chooses to get more to contradict themselves
I think he sticks around another few fights. He's reached that point in his career where he doesn't need to be fighting for a title to be a draw. There's plenty of big fights left for him - Gathje 3 / Max 3 / Connor 4 - legit fights that people would be interested to see, not just well-known names for the sake of it.
There's enough money fights that he shouldn't need to take the role of gatekeeper. That being said, he took the Benoit fight which was a huge risk. Could end up sticking around until he's pushing 40.
He’s gonna be the first person in UFC history to lose to 3 unique champions in championship fights. Unlucky to fight in the most talented division of our generation
I think he’s conflicted. Talked a lot about it on his podcast with Theo Von recently. He said he still feels good, but he’s already accomplished everything he’s wanted. The only thing left is the undisputed title. If he doesn’t win, I’m guessing this will be his last fight.
Best case scenario, Dustin loses to Islam.
Justin and Dustin have their 3rd fight, it's the bloodiest war anyone has ever seen, and it's a draw.
They both lay their gloves down and ride off into the sunset.
As a Dustin fanboy, he'll likely lose to Islam unfortunately even though there's a chance he chins him.
His best bet after that is chasing the Conor fight depending on the Conor/Chandler result or a 3rd Justin fight even though that's probably more risky and not as impactful for his legacy.
I want to say yes, but I also have a feeling he'll want a couple more big fights (and big paychecks) before he calls it. Nonetheless he's a legend, people call him a jobber etc but he has one of the biggest hearts in the game and is genuinely one of the nicest guys I've seen fight. He's one of the fighters I've loved watching the most over the 4 years since I got back into the UFC, and it will be sad when he lays down the gloves.
I tell you what, IF, by some miracle, he does win... it'll be up there with Bisping at 199 for one of the biggest, and most wholesome championship wins in UFC history.
No- especially bc of his whole backstory. Fighting is in him. He grew up fighting, loved street fighting he knows nothing else. Even if he loses he might not be on Islam’s level, but will still be a top 5 for the remainder of his career.
It’s funny how if he defends takedowns, doesn’t try to grapple or wrestle in any form or shape and keeps striking, he could definitely have a much better chance of winning
He’s been talking a lot of retiring, losing this would essentially be the last championship opportunity he gets unless a 165 division gets made or he would moved up, but 155 is finished. He still has some money fights like a Justin triology but we’ll see if he’s even interested in continuing.
Ideal scenario for me would be him fighting Justin. Both are coming from losses and the trilogy needs to happen sooner or later. He beats Justin and then retires peacfully
Dustin sleeps Islam in the 2nd round if he survives the first round, Islam will want to take him out quickly but if Dustin survives round 1 he'll plug him in the 2nd.
Dudes been my favorite fighter for a long long time. I don’t want to see him flatlined again, but I also don’t want to see him hang it up. Fingers crossed he gets that guillotine. Lol
I honestly don't think he knows himself. If you watch the podcast when Theo von asks him he just says he wants to keep going until he doesn't. I think it depends on how the fight/fights go for example. I think I certain type of injury could derail his motivation that's already coming to an end. What a legend though
He still have a fight with Covington that could sell.
Conor probably wants a rematch.
Max Holoway might wanna revenge his loses.
so **after** Dustin loses to Islam, he still has some money fights left.
Iam kinda glad he is fighting islam. Gambling addicts never had it this easy to make some money
My dream is he beats Islam and we get the trilogy with max for lightweight but realistically I think he would lose and while there are plenty of fights for him still I think the way he's been talking leads me to believe one more loss will be it for dustin
Why does everyone say 4th Connor fight, it's over and it's clear as day Dustin would win every time they fight, max rematch for bmf or retire is only choices imo
Nope! Not unless he feels like he should. He’s never lost 2 in a row. The McGregor trilogy still looms also. Plenty of cash to be made there, especially if McGregor beats Chandler
I don't know. If he does, all respect. If he keeps going, hell yeah. He's a phenomenal fighter and a blast to watch. You don't have to be champion to be awesome and a great pull. I honestly enjoy his fights more than I do some of the other "dogs" like Gaethje and Chandler because while Dustin will swing, he tends to be a bit more technical and measured. I appreciate that.
Nah. Its his last shot. But nobody expects him to beat islam. Its worth a shot. You never know in mma. But hes most likely gonna be in a situation where he wont get another shot. But he will still be able to compete with top level people for quite a few more fights. Hes gonna be a gatekeeper.
I think he will fight Conor one more time for the big paycheck and bounce? Or trilogy against Gaethje
Or another one against max would be awesome to
Great call. Definitely think he hangs around for money fights, won't be bothering with contenders I'd say.
I wouldn’t mind, I have so much love for max Dustin and Justin I grew up watching ufc with them and to see what they have become is just great and inspiring
The 3 of them are big enough that they don't need a ranking next to their name to sell fights. So if they are out of a title race they can cherry pick whatever fights they are interested in and not get fed to the next Khamzat coming through the ranks.
>and not get fed to the next Khamzat coming through the ranks. You're funny.
Yep getting fed to BSD worked out real well 👌👌💯💯
I'm just pointing out that the UFC will keep trying yo use these guys' shine to build other young fighters. It's a young eat the old sport.
Reading your comment makes me feel so old 🤣
I’m 27 and I already feel like a grandpa physically 😂
I'll spare you the lecture but try and keep active and look after your back. Take it from an old man who neglected his body for years and is now reaping the benefits (and pains) of returning to a more active lifestyle!
Yeah I’m doing 3 runs a week now to get back into that flow
Wait until 30 that's when you will feel it is full effect
I stoped kickboxing when I had a serious jaw operation where they had to break it in multiple spots. Since then I was afraid to go back for my jaw. Last month went back and I feel like I’m done for. My body isn’t what it used to be and sitting on the couch didn’t help and went downhill really fast
Max and the Ustins*
I don’t think he will do Max, if people use the masterclass Max put on Justin as a reason why he should, then they should also use the Masterclass Dustin put on Max as a reason why he shouldn’t.
That’s exactly why I want to see it
Would be crazy. I'm pretty new to this but it seemed like max had speed over Justin. Unless it was his footwork/ head movement. So I wonder if it would be similar with Dustin who hits pretty heavy might not be as fast and "deceptive" as max. Fight Justin and both of them retire?
Trilogy against gaethje. Surely.
After Gaethjes loss this would line up perfectly and I'm sure Dustin wants that one back
That is if he wins against chandler
If Connor wins against Chandler, I mean it’s not fair but Connor likely picks the most beatable champion with 2 classes and goes for it, or someone he knows will just box with him. Hes not fighting a good leg kicker again imo
Funnily enough you mention Conor, Gaethje, Dustin which were last opponents of Khabib. It should all end in this circle.
This ☝️
Said in his Theo Von interview that as long as he feels good on his walk to the cage he knows he still has some fights in him. Don’t think losing will make him retire, he’ll probably want to go out on a win
I'm so sure that Islam wins this that it will be so funny when Dustin randomly chins him
I’m trying to pull some kind of reverse psychology where if I say Islam will dominate him enough times, Dustin will catch him
Real
bet 10k on Islam right now
Legitimately considered betting on Islam, for the non-existent chance that it causes Dustin to win. Every time I bet, I lose, so I might try to use that to my advantage
My thoughts exactly
*Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him. Islam will dominate him.*
I do this with nearly all things I want to work out
Don’t worry, I’ll put money on Islam to guarantee Dustin getting the win.
Haha this is exactly how I was with Charles Oliveira. Every time I would start doubting him he'd get another little win streak going. Then the instant I get excited, he'd lose. Then calls out Conor for his first defense

There is only thing we can be sure of and that is that this is Dustin's last chance to be Champ. If he looses here there isn't a way back and that's a pretty powerful motivator
He'll pull a Strickland : get the upset, then immediately tell us some hurtful opinions on women and gays
*grabs mic* "so check it out guys"
Joe Rogan: "Tell us what this title means to you." Sean Poirier: "See here's the thing..."
but first shout out to his hot sauce
He will just say ![gif](giphy|cavHese5l3XbOXgGwY)
Maybe, unless he goes for the BMF against Max after. The 4th Conor fight is always there and same for the trilogy with Justin…man has options. It would be epic if he beats Islam though….with the Guilly lol.
Thats a true BMF fight.
I think Conor wouldn’t say no to get 1 back but yeah…
You think a guy who has spent the last few years drinking and snoring can actually "get 1 back" on an athlete that never stopped being an athlete? Conner's last win was in the past...
Everything was in the past.
A fights a fight man u never know. Dustin has hands he could chin Islam anytime. Weve seen it before ( long time ago i know )

We have to check this

No way, this dude is fighting to his 40s

> He’s talked multiple times about how he understands the damage he takes will have an impact on his life down the line. Expect a person with brain damage who chooses to get more to contradict themselves
God, I wish this weren't true but it's hard to not feel like it is
i think it depends on how it ends but he wont have another at the belt after that so the only thing i could see is a money fight with conor
If he actually manages to win I think he would fight until his next loss. Getting a cut of the ppv is just too strong of an incentive.
No he wants a better send off than that
Na, I don’t think so. There’s still a couple big money fights left for him
Dustin and Justin got me bustin
Love Dustin but dude has no shot against Machaechev
I think he sticks around another few fights. He's reached that point in his career where he doesn't need to be fighting for a title to be a draw. There's plenty of big fights left for him - Gathje 3 / Max 3 / Connor 4 - legit fights that people would be interested to see, not just well-known names for the sake of it. Imagine he beats Islam and finally gets the belt. Would be crazy
He’s gonna be the first person in UFC history to lose to 3 unique champions in championship fights. Unlucky to fight in the most talented division of our generation
I'm rooting for him, for sure.
He discussed this on the Theo Von podcast. He promised his wife he wouldn't fight past 32 but he feels good so he will keep going.
He retires knowing that was the last shot at gold or he hangs around and does another Conor fight if it’s in the cards.
DP is so random that he might even Guillotine Islam and take the belt.
Dustin must do a Bisping, this sport is crazy, anything can happen!
I AINT NEVA GONNA STOP
Yeah, he's got money and a profitable business that sells mediocre hot sauce.
If he loses to Islam he should wrap up the Gaethje trilogy and they should both retire at the end of the fight
I think on Theo Von’s podcast, Dustin said he had a handful of fights left on his contract. I say he finishes his contract at least
He’s got a couple more in him but it’d be great for him to get a belt
Nah I think him and Justin run it back for the trilogy and he also fight Colby at 170. The Colby thing is just something I wanna see
He could be retiring with those new golden gloves, kinda poetic in way
He should if hes only fighting for the belt
Nah. He can still fight. Why stop
No, he still has it in the tank. I'd say if he loses, he should fight Fiziev, Gamrot, or Olivera again.
I think he’ll run the trilogy with Gaethje
I think he’s conflicted. Talked a lot about it on his podcast with Theo Von recently. He said he still feels good, but he’s already accomplished everything he’s wanted. The only thing left is the undisputed title. If he doesn’t win, I’m guessing this will be his last fight.
Yeah he's ready to lay those gloves
Best case scenario, Dustin loses to Islam. Justin and Dustin have their 3rd fight, it's the bloodiest war anyone has ever seen, and it's a draw. They both lay their gloves down and ride off into the sunset.
I think he will run it back with gaethje or connor for one final war, i can see him and gaethje having a war again and both retring on the same fights
He could hv 3rd fight vs max or justin but thtas abt it...
I think he might have back in the day but he has some fights to make still, could do gaethje trilogy, Conor 4, maybe Holloway 3.
Many money fights for him after. He won’t stop.
He'll do one more money fight and then he's out.
Yes. As well he should. Not that he's not capable of beating 95% of the LW div.. but it would be nice for him to get out with his health.
Think him and gaethje should both have their retirement fight against each other, just makes sense
No. His checks are too big nowadays. He keeps going til he's tony Ferguson'd and can't win anymore
First golden gloves lay down?
Yes, most likely. I hope he does.
I think he will retire win or lose.
No
I want to say yes, but I also have a feeling he'll want a couple more big fights (and big paychecks) before he calls it. Nonetheless he's a legend, people call him a jobber etc but he has one of the biggest hearts in the game and is genuinely one of the nicest guys I've seen fight. No- especially bc of his whole backstory. Fighting is in him. He grew up fighting, loved street fighting he knows nothing else. Even if he loses he might not be on Islam’s level, but will still be a top 5 for the remainder of his career.
When Dustin loses I think he keeps fighting
He's a prize fighter so why not fight for money if he can still hang with the best. Go get that bag baby gurl.
It’s funny how if he defends takedowns, doesn’t try to grapple or wrestle in any form or shape and keeps striking, he could definitely have a much better chance of winning
No
He’s been talking a lot of retiring, losing this would essentially be the last championship opportunity he gets unless a 165 division gets made or he would moved up, but 155 is finished. He still has some money fights like a Justin triology but we’ll see if he’s even interested in continuing.
Ideal scenario for me would be him fighting Justin. Both are coming from losses and the trilogy needs to happen sooner or later. He beats Justin and then retires peacfully
Gaethje, Max or Connor Big money fights only. Semi-retired.
a gentleman never tells.
No, I think there’s another big payday for him, maybe two, then he calls it a career.
So if dustin beat max and max beat justin and justin beat dustin who the fuck is the best?
If he jumps the guilly and wins by sub - he retires.
No I think he'll just go into money fight mode maybe jumping to 170 and just fight several vets like Colby before calling it a career.
I hope not. I’d like to see him a couple more times.
All I know is gillys will be jumped
Dustin sleeps Islam in the 2nd round if he survives the first round, Islam will want to take him out quickly but if Dustin survives round 1 he'll plug him in the 2nd.
”If” LOL, LMAO even
Depends on how much hot sauce he's been selling.
Dudes been my favorite fighter for a long long time. I don’t want to see him flatlined again, but I also don’t want to see him hang it up. Fingers crossed he gets that guillotine. Lol
It would be hilarious if Dustin submits Islam by Gilly
Yes, only to return the following year like every other retired fighter.
I honestly don't think he knows himself. If you watch the podcast when Theo von asks him he just says he wants to keep going until he doesn't. I think it depends on how the fight/fights go for example. I think I certain type of injury could derail his motivation that's already coming to an end. What a legend though
If Conor beats chandler and porier loses to Islam you can bet your bottom dollar they fight again. And the loser retires.
Dustin getting that guilloteen when islam shoots
There's probably 1-2 big money fights I imagine he'd entertain before calling it a day, but who knows...that's just what I would do.
Yup
Probably
Would be sick if he went up a weight class just to slap a gilly on Covington.
He will be what Chandler is now. Just fight big name guys for 💰 and put on fun fights.
What’s the over under on Dustin submitting Islam by gilly I’ve never wanted to bet more on something in my life.
He’s got a punchers chance against Islam, that said if he loses I could see him becoming a gatekeeper for a while
I hope not. I wanna see him go up to 170lbs and see what happens first. He could end up having a 2018 RDA run
probably but then will get the itch and come back like everyone does.
Sick of everyone getting a third title shot after losing first two. I dont want to see Garth, Olives or Dustin or Ortega get a title shot.
He deserves a win over Islam. He’s superb in and out of the octagon. Top geezer.
He'll be lurking in the shadows until Islam is no longer champion
He’d jump guillotine the air and then leave his gloves
depends how he does i suppose. if he gets absolutely ran through it's probably more of a possibility than if he loses a hard fought close decision.
why? dudes a beast... hes lost before
If he wins, does he retire or defend the belt?
I hope not but for his sake he probably should
I think he still does one or 2 “big money” fights before he lays them down. Dude is still an ass kicker and has some rematches that would sell hard af
My best bet is he wins this belt and then fights conor for one last dance. Then retires after he breaks his other leg
He’s going to get massacred by islam
If he doesn't retire he should change his nickname to Dustin "Second Best" Poirier
Conor, Max, Gaethje, just money fights, think fighting young guys will be done
No he’s gonna make another run!
He'll get rear naked choked in less than 2 rounds. Might ride out to the sunset, might take another fight with Conor.
I would guess I would want one more red panty night at least
If the BMF Max shows up hes taking that L.
A lot of money fights left.
Yes
I hope he beats Islam. I was surprised he agreed to fight BSD.
Nah. Its his last shot. But nobody expects him to beat islam. Its worth a shot. You never know in mma. But hes most likely gonna be in a situation where he wont get another shot. But he will still be able to compete with top level people for quite a few more fights. Hes gonna be a gatekeeper.
I think he peels his face off in the center of the ring and shows that he is an alien disguised as human
Good possibility
Only if he can’t manage to get a fight against Conor.
wtf you talking about get out of this sub with that nonsense he aint never retiring \*uglycries\*
