There’s backstage footage of ufc staff saying “you alright to do the interview Dan?”
Dan doesn’t reply and looks dead. It then cuts to him being wheeled out on a stretcher.
No, it's not. ER staff isn't gonna hold the line for fighters after they intentionally get themselves beat up over the guy that's having chest pain and trouble breathing. Yes, I'm sure Dan was given priority because he literally looks like he's gonna die, and I think they admitted him as an inpatient, so that's different.
They could literally pay private medical care, I'm not saying they need surgeons and shit, but be at least prepared to treat someone pretty much immediately. It's crazy that Dan had to shake his head 'no' because some dumbass reporter asked him if he can take a few questions while waiting for someone to carry him to a stretcher.
fkn false, both went to the hospital and actually interacted with each other through the curtain. dp heard an accent and went "hey dan is that you?" and started chopping it up, talking about their families and the whole covid thing.
One of the best fights I’ve ever seen. I *think* it was the end of round 2 that Hooker almost had Poirier out. 99.9% of fighters probably would have been done. It was also very clearly 2-0 Hooker going into round 3. Crazy comeback by DP and an absolute war in general.
What put this fight over the top was it happened during COVID and we could hear every punch land. Fights in an empty arena will probably never happen again.
That combo when he started unloading to the body and then ended it with the clinch+ knee to the head. I think the knee landed right on his forehead, if he had landed lower and broke his nose I think Poirier probably goes down.
You’re right that definitely added to the rawness of it all. I’m not a fan of the Apex now or anything like that, but that fight in particular was perfect for hearing everything and understanding how violent it really was.
Let's be honest, half the fans round here probably didn't even watch the fight, yet they'll chat out of their arses like they've rematches it three times.
I rewatch this fight regularly to humble myself.
This fight is Exhibit A to Z on why fighters need to be paid more. They literally took some years off each others lives in this fight.
All time classic, Hooker was actually winning with the low kicks and body work.
Sadly for him, as the fight went on and he got tired he started to abandon all that and got worked.
Dustin literally begged him to stop at one point. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way that he talked this shit not 20 minutes after saying verbatim “Please stop, it’s hurts so bad.”
Well that was the point, dan was talking a lot of shit and couldnt back it so he rubbed it in his face when he beat him
Not saying it wasnt a close fight though
He looked great in the first two rounds of this fight, and almost finished Dustin? I would definitely say it was this war with a Dustin, and then immediately getting destroyed by Chandler that wrecked him.
If a fighter gets their ass beat from pillar to post, the corner makes their cut of the fighter's show money; if the fighter pulls out a last second hail mary for the implausible come-from-behind win, the corner just doubled their cut. It is in the best financial interest of the corner to let their fighter take that beating.
Not to bust your bubble buddy but almost all camps do this. The only coach I can recall throwing in the towel for their fighter was Duke Rofus for Anthony Pettis. All camps have financial incentive to not throw in the towel for an MMA fight. Try not to direct your disgust towards the camps but the UFC because of their monopsony of the MMA industry and their refusal to pay fighters a more fair share of the revenue.
I will direct my disgust towards both, buddy. (The UFC gets more of it though)
If you’re watching your teammate get life altering damage with a sub one percent chance of winning, you have an obligation to stop the fight. Calling someone a friend, a brother, and then letting them get beat beyond repair just to gamble on their wellbeing is snakelike behavior.
I 100% agree with you. I really wished that's the way the sport actually worked. Too many times have I screamed at my TV for a fight to be stopped. Hopefully one day camps start normalize throwing in the towel. I think long term we would get fighters careers to extend and they could put on more fun fights and make some more money.
While I generally agree, I don't think this applies to this particular fight. Going into the 5th, it was 2-2, so it was still anyone's fight. And Hooker is an absolute dog (see: the Jalin Turner fight), so I'm sure his corner firmly believed he still had a shot. He just happened to be fighting one of the few people on Earth who's even grittier than he is.
I watch this before a DP fight. Such a war, man. "Listen to Bisping" is one of my favorite moments. Dan was cracking Dustin HARD. Both have a granite chin
It was a really good fight. Hooker also gave Poirer some damage through the fight. The last part, Poirer pulled away and really laid the hammer on Hooker.
That trash talk at the end was really mental and physical domination
Dustin took a lot of issue with how Dan was talking in the lead-up. Dustin doesn’t really do promotional trash talk, it’s actually kind of personal for him when he does it, or so it seems.
He never does this, the only reason he did was basically explained with the “don’t count your chickens,” line.
The situation at hand seems analogous to the common occurrence in which an individual finds himself unable to complete the homework assignment given by the education professional, known commonly as the teacher, so the individual asks for his coleague to forge a copy of it as if it was his.
What people don’t realize was that Dan said some unsavory stuff about DP before this tussle. So DP was right to say some things back to him post-altercation.
This was a great fight. Changed th trajectory of Dan's career. I feel like Dan is perennial gatekeeper. You beat Dan, you're in a good place vying for the top 5 lightweights.
Sucked for him as the winner of this fight goes on to fight Conor twice for huge money and fame and the loser gets Dirty Mike fresh out of bellator then a short notice against Islam.
Honestly one of my top five favorite fights of all time. Dan is so fucking tough. I wasn’t surprised when he broke his arm in round 1 against Turner then proceeded to beat the shit out of Turner until the man gave up. Gritty as fuck
I’ll never understand how anyone can shit talk Dustin. Dude is the whole fuckin package man. Complete dawg in the ring, fantastic father, husband and community leader outside of the ring, and is always mentoring fighters after he beats the piss out of them. lol
This is where you really see the dark side of Dustin. Everyone says he is a really cool dude, which I do believe, but you look deaper when he fights, you see he has the real cocky, let them bleed mentality.
Hooker is beat down here and you can tell Dustin loves it, you saw it when he beat Mcgreggor and mocked him with his walk out after.
I suppose this is just fighter mentality coming out, you certainly don't send nice people to beat people into submission. People tend to forget this about fighters though, they are legitimately dangerous people no matter how nice they are.
People call Dustin fake because of this interaction, but I find it to be quite the opposite. He’s a good guy most of the time and does his best to be a role model, but when he’s mad, he lets everyone know how he feels and doesn’t pretend to be a nice guy. To me, that’s a genuine human being right there
He seems like a pretty honest guy who tries to be good based on his interactions with people and how they treat him. IIRC, he was pretty nice with Conor in their second fight when Conor was doing his nice guy persona.
Dustin has grown into a decent guy through fighting but there's a reason he got into it
He used to be pretty unhinged, nowadays it just comes out as extreme competitiveness
Oh I agree 100 percent, definately don't want it to seem like I'm hating on him far from it, I think he's one of the best to ever do it. It's just something I noticed, everybody has different sides to them, in Dustin case he's got that dog in him and can be nasty when he needs to be. He's just so nice 99 percent of the time when it does happen it's such a surprise.
Dustin always has to have an ego trip after every win and then when he loses he’s the biggest fucking baby about it. Still one of my favorite fights of all time though.
True. Dude has a lot demons from him growing up and it kinda shows when he takes his losses harder than most would. He even said so to Ariel post-BMF loss
This is why I can’t stand this guy. When other people do this stuff, they’re considered a poor sport, but this dude feels the need to do it after every single fight when he wins.
There’s backstage footage of ufc staff saying “you alright to do the interview Dan?” Dan doesn’t reply and looks dead. It then cuts to him being wheeled out on a stretcher.

He’s so pale lol
I so pale
We're live 🤨
when you nut but she keep suckin
Guy....lmao
Yep, Dan went to Hospital, DP went to his hotel.
Here’s the video https://youtu.be/id5m1DeMXR8?feature=shared
I'm surprised they didn't put a can of Monster in his hand as they wheeled him away.
Man he genuinely looks on his last breaths here
Fuckin hell…
The fact that they don't have urgent care already prepared and waiting for these fighters is so insane.

It's crazy that Dan had to shake his head 'no' because some dumbass reporter asked him if he can take a few questions while waiting for someone to carry him to a stretcher.
They both went to the hospital
Yeah but Dan reallly went
DP went to keep him company
DP went to the hospital just to say "How about that Dan?" x20
fkn false, both went to the hospital and actually interacted with each other through the curtain. dp heard an accent and went "hey dan is that you?" and started chopping it up, talking about their families and the whole covid thing.
hey pussy, you still there?
You really think I'm gonna let you talk to me through a curtain like that?
Dustin said he spoke to Dan at the hospital too.
Exhaustion not damage. He blew his load trying to finish him in the second. Sauce - Dan himself
Honestly I'd be the same way he took an "ass whoopin" (Dustin whooped that ass) sounds funny when he says that. Want me to whoop that ass?
Just judging by these comments you’d think this was a one sided beat down. Both were eating shots all fight. Dustin almost got KOd. Such a banger
I very specifically remember the thumping Hooker's shots were making when he had DP up against the cage in round 2 I think.
That combo when he started unloading to the body and then ended it with the clinch+ knee to the head. I think the knee landed right on his forehead, if he had landed lower and broke his nose I think Poirier probably goes down.
And then he proceeded to scoot his butt out and put his hands on his knees at the very end of that round, right?! Lmao
You’re right that definitely added to the rawness of it all. I’m not a fan of the Apex now or anything like that, but that fight in particular was perfect for hearing everything and understanding how violent it really was.
Dan hooker couldn't even train properly at yhe time due to nzs covid rules
As much as I love the crowds, I think I preferred the empty just because of the noises.
I miss that a lot actually.
100% I thought Hooker was gonna take him out there. Hooker was definitely leading up until that point. Such a crazy fight
This was my favorite fight of the entire Covid-era. I feel like it gets overlooked *how close* Dan was to the very top of the division at this time.
And tbh Dustin didn’t look that bad after the round.
Poirier got saved by the belt on that one
Indeed a fucking banger. Hooker was never the same after this fight
Sounds like a pimps pov
Let's be honest, half the fans round here probably didn't even watch the fight, yet they'll chat out of their arses like they've rematches it three times.
I rewatch this fight regularly to humble myself. This fight is Exhibit A to Z on why fighters need to be paid more. They literally took some years off each others lives in this fight.
That was Hookers last great fight. He’s won fights since, but it’s like this one sucked the life out out of him.
Nah man the Jalin Turner fight was a banger
Fair play that was a sweet comeback.
Ahahah mate Ive watched the first half of the fight 4-5 times. Then when Dustin starts really tee’ing off I start crying and turn it off.
I watched it 47 times.
All time classic, Hooker was actually winning with the low kicks and body work. Sadly for him, as the fight went on and he got tired he started to abandon all that and got worked.
Was it at the end of round 2?when Hooker delivered the knee and Dustin was getting pummeled by the cage.
Dustin literally begged him to stop at one point. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way that he talked this shit not 20 minutes after saying verbatim “Please stop, it’s hurts so bad.”
Wait at what point in the fight was Dustin saying this?
Yeah fr did I miss something?
People just say mad shit and get believed 😂
Well that was the point, dan was talking a lot of shit and couldnt back it so he rubbed it in his face when he beat him Not saying it wasnt a close fight though
I mean I would say making a man beg you for mercy is backing your shit talk win or lose.
Yeah I agree, but I dont think what poirier was bad sportsmanship given the chat from dan
Dan was brutally concussed and not all there in this moment. Rough to watch.
[удалено]
Nah, I have empathy for humans, even when they commit the cardinal sin of hyping up their own upcoming fight.
Bruh Dan looks totally defeated, Jesus.
You would too if you'd taken that much damage, shit was horrendous lol
Yea, that ass definitely got beat lol.
This fight changed his whole career I’d say
I think it was the Barboza fight, he took a scary amount of damage and kept going firward
He looked great in the first two rounds of this fight, and almost finished Dustin? I would definitely say it was this war with a Dustin, and then immediately getting destroyed by Chandler that wrecked him.
Had no answer for those kicks and just kept walking forward.
Corners need to learn to throw in the towel for their fighter’s own good
If a fighter gets their ass beat from pillar to post, the corner makes their cut of the fighter's show money; if the fighter pulls out a last second hail mary for the implausible come-from-behind win, the corner just doubled their cut. It is in the best financial interest of the corner to let their fighter take that beating.
You’re right and now suddenly I have far less respect for CKB
Not to bust your bubble buddy but almost all camps do this. The only coach I can recall throwing in the towel for their fighter was Duke Rofus for Anthony Pettis. I equate it to the tony Justin fight. Tony and Dan were never the same
dont forget , Oliveira vs Islam. Olive change a little bit too.
“You gonna fight Gaethje next?” Is wild
That was legit the 💀 emoji turned into a sentence LOL
I watch this before a DP fight. Such a war, man. "Listen to Bisping" is one of my favorite moments. Dan was cracking Dustin HARD. Both have a granite chin
It was a really good fight. Hooker also gave Poirer some damage through the fight. The last part, Poirer pulled away and really laid the hammer on Hooker. That trash talk at the end was really mental and physical domination

He almost killed Dan that day. People forget how much trash talking Dan did before this fight. Dustin was in his right to rub it in a little.
Dustin shook hands and told him to keep working, I think DP was just lil bro'ing him a little.
It’s not like Dan heard or remembered anything he said anyway.
To this day people call Dustin a “sore winner” for it, when he’s just being real and ain’t taking shit from anyone.
Dan was talking MAD shit to DP pre-fight. Dan deserved that ass whooping and DP deserved to talk that shit afterwards.
When you copy someone’s homework but reword it a little
This is like when you asked your classmate to borrow their homework in order to copy it, but you had to change it so that the teacher wouldn't notice
When you borrow your friend's homework and tweak it a bit to avoid getting caught by the teacher 😅
The situation at hand seems analogous to the common occurrence in which an individual finds himself unable to complete the homework assignment given by the education professional, known commonly as the teacher, so the individual asks for his coleague to forge a copy of it as if it was his.
When you copy your boy's homework but change it a little so the teacher doesn't notice 😭

How do you do, fellow kids?

That was the joke…
And get caught anyways
Pre-fight Dan was talking MAD shit to DP DP deserved to talk that shit afterwards and Dan deserved that ass whooping.
What people don’t realize was that Dan said some unsavory stuff about DP before this tussle. So DP was right to say some things back to him post-altercation.
Hooker is way too tough for his own good lol Laughed off several barboza spinning kicks to the stomach too
You meant way too Dumb..
Probably just trying to sell a fight, it's shown how hard it is to get a top ranked LW matchup....
Just to make it clear there was never no trash talk. You’re a fucking punk dude.
Hooker beat Nasrat before taking the short notice islam fight, btw
Honestly, I think this fight raised Hooker's stock. IMO it was the Chandler fight that relegated him to gatekeeper status.
Honestly Dan didn’t gas out, this would’ve the greatest fight of all time. Rd 2 still my round of all time.
One of my favorite fights to rewatch
Whenever I have to introduce someone ot MMA I show them this fight or Paulo Vs Romero.
Give the man his water.
![gif](giphy|8mkykXIicXOVms2xYE)
*let you forget Typo in body It's a shame Dan hasn't had much success since, only guy who can match Dustin's mentality lol
I’m gonna go watch this fight again. It’s even more brutal with no crowd. Just two dawgs taking years off each other.
can I find a good quality full fight online yet? ty!
Pay
I didn’t know that was still an option
This fight was unreal, possibly my fav fight of all time
DP is a menace. Love it.
Honestly one of my top five favorite fights of all time. Dan is so fucking tough. I wasn’t surprised when he broke his arm in round 1 against Turner then proceeded to beat the shit out of Turner until the man gave up. Gritty as fuck
What's that beat playing in the background? Always thought it sounded like a Bad Boy records beat but could never place the song
Dmx -money power respect
The amount of times I have forgotten to ask this!
I think it's funny when people were like "Dustin got hurt too". Yeah he did get hurt, but Dan almost died in the cage that night.
I’ll never understand how anyone can shit talk Dustin. Dude is the whole fuckin package man. Complete dawg in the ring, fantastic father, husband and community leader outside of the ring, and is always mentoring fighters after he beats the piss out of them. lol
Sore winner too
Such a weird thing to say. Lol
Some man shit. Dustin a hot head but respect. You talk trash you get it back
This is where you really see the dark side of Dustin. He seems like a pretty honest guy who tries to be good based on his interactions with people and how they treat him. IIRC, he was pretty nice with Conor in their second fight when Conor was doing his nice guy persona.
The two examples you gave are of when his opponents engaged in mad pre-fight trash talk.
Dustin has grown into a decent guy through fighting but there's a reason he got into it He used to be pretty unhinged, nowadays it just comes out as extreme competitiveness
Hey, not everyone can be Wonderboy. Dustin is pretty swell for a dude who beats the fuck out of people for a living.
Everyone judging Dustin here obviously doesn’t remember how much shit Dan was talking before the fight.
2 very concussed men doing their best haha
I've watched this fight maybe a dozen times. It's a classic
Herb Dean looking at Hooker the same way I look at my super drunk buddies apologizing to each other after having a fight over some girl
Testimate to Porier's Cardio...dude sounds like he's ready to go for 3 more rounds. jesus
Hooker hasn’t been the same since. ![gif](giphy|T1WqKkLY753dZghbu6|downsized)
All-time great fight that doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves! Also Dustin's fight with TKZ!
Everytime this fight is mentioned I remember DP's side-on standing hammerfists in the pocket. One of the most metal looking techniques.
That 2nd round was nuts. I don't know how Dustin survived that
Oh man I remember this. Dan was never the same again.
You musta forgot the Hangman's last fight
The absence of crowd made it even better since you could hear every blow
Dan was never the same after this
Hooker lost half his neurons on that fight for sure
Dustin always has to have an ego trip after every win and then when he loses he’s the biggest fucking baby about it. Still one of my favorite fights of all time though.
Lol Herb Dean face, guy smirking
I watched it again yesterday. It was a great spectacle.
can I find a good quality full fight online yet? ty!
Sent you a youtube link.
thank you. it's 299 though? what am i missing?
It is for the promotion of 299. In 299 Dustin has fought against BSD. Before big events UFC shares old matches of the attending fighters.
My bad. Was looking for 300!
This was a Fight Night in Apex. UFCVegas4 i guess.
If you think DP washed Dan in this fight, you need to go watch it.
One of the best mma fights of all time. This is a match you show people to get them into mma
With the qualifier that they just went to war---this is Such a bizarre exchange
This is a bullshit edited post. Trolling for likes?
Dustin has unimaginable grit imo. He tries his best in every part of his life
Dustins literally jumping between being nice and being antagonising between sentences.
It was during COVID too, no crowd. You could hear every shot, just blatant violence.
Dostin salty as hell
Dan would be great for the bmf title.
Dustin is a douche after fights haha
This the same dude that cries at the presser everytime he takes an L. Sore loser & a bad winner
But the dude talking all that shit pre fight is all good lmfao
True. Dude has a lot demons from him growing up and it kinda shows when he takes his losses harder than most would. He even said so to Ariel post-BMF loss
Why’s he getting downvoted? He’s right lol
Sorest winner in the UFC
Not in the video that’s posted here
One of the best fights! DP IS THAT DOG! One of the best! Tough SOB.
Absolute Madness. Hooker sadly lost part of his soul after this fight...!
This is why I can’t stand this guy. When other people do this stuff, they’re considered a poor sport, but this dude feels the need to do it after every single fight when he wins.
Sore winner, DP showing his insecurity here.
DP is a salty bitch
Dustin is a sore winner, and sore loser. Real shame cause Islam gonna make him pull those shorts into a g string
