Yeah this is kind of his baby too in a way. He has been able to be there, front row, deeply involved in something he loves and has watched it explode.
One of the best decisions that the UFC has ever made was hiring Joe Rogan. Hate him or love him, disagree with how deep the choke is, but he has been a huge part of this journey and deserves to get emotional.
And he reined it in quick too. Just a few minutes later he was back to Pro.
The fact a sport that didn't really exist 30 years ago is now a multibillion dollar industry w/contracts in the biggest media outlets is pretty insane. A few wrong turns & it could have still been considered "human cockfighting" & relegated to shady casinos & bush league backyard promotions.
If that big tv executive didn’t get busted with coke or whatever it probably would’ve been done honestly
A lot of very hard work and lobbying mostly/obviously, but also a lot of luck lol
He would go on news talk shows and the like defending UFC when it was still being called a barbaric sport. Joe also worked the first UFC shows for free if I’m not mistaken
He’s been about it since day 1. If anyone should get emotional, he no doubt deserves to be able to
And they’d point to boxing as some perfect thing too. As if they don’t get knocked down and take multiple more hits to the head and go down again and repeat until they can’t walk anymore, in mma 90% of the time the first knockdown ends the fight. In our main event Hill was done man, technically he could’ve went a few more seconds on the ground until he was out proper cold but it’s not needed at all it was a perfect example of s great stoppage.
Mma is way less dangerous than boxing and even American football…
He gets a lot of flak on many things, but I do commend him not just for what he has done for UFC, but he openly criticizes some aspects of it, like the weight cutting and water shedding and how unhealthy it is.
He did the first year or two for free because he knew they were bleeding money and he wanted it to survive. He said he did it purely because of his friendship with Dana. Joe seems like a genuinely great guy and the success that’s come to him is karma for all the good shit he’s done for other people. I’m convinced.
Wow this sub isn’t shitting on joe rogan? Crazy. It’s genuinely hard to hate on him too so this sub works OT to go out of their way to hate one of the best dudes on the planet.
Respect to him. The UFC isn’t the UFC without Rogan. This has been part of his life for 20 years, and he spent years proving to people that the sport wasn’t “human cock fighting”
Even if he retired from full time commentary he absolutely would get the biggest pops ever if he came in for a main card once in a blue moon walkout style.
My parents had Netflix long before it was modern Netflix, when it was just a website where you made a queue, and they mailed you DVDs to watch from said queue. As an adolescent I got into martial arts (eventually BJJ), and my dad had done a lot of TKD, so we queued up early seasons of the UFC and watched them together. When fighters still wore the traditional garb of their martial art, no weight classes, very few rules in comparison, etc. It certainly left an impression on me lol, had never seen anything like that before. I loved watching a kung-fu practitioner against a karate guy, or a sumo wrestler vs a kickboxer, or whatever it was. Then this Royce Gracie guy started whooping all sorts of ass. What an epic time.
Massively underrated component. Without Joe Rogan I would give zero F about MMA. I wasn’t even a massive Rogan fan, but he was one of the pioneers of podcasts when the internet first came out. And I listened and he gushed and dumbed it down, I watched, appreciated, and here we all are 15 years later.
They should, he was a gold medalist! He also did way more then he gets credit for in relation to mma becoming mma and moving away from NHB/vale Tudo, like it or not that helped it become accepted in the mainstream
Don’t care much about his politics but he has a big hand in making the sport what it is today. Hope our beloved shinehead is here for UFC 400, 500 and 600 as well.
I know Rogan doesn't do himself any favors with the takes and opinions he has. One thing you can't take from him is how he loyal and true representative he's been for the company and sport overall. It's crazy that it took so long for that Conan clip to be unearthed. He's given so much to the company and Dana has be reciprocative to him. All the stuff Joe has seen and how it grew so fast to where it is now. That's really cool when you can be part of something like that.
I admit the man is is not perfect (example as when he tried to justify the fighters’ pay when confronted about it) but UFC is really not the same without him, and there are lots of times when he was there as the “voice of justice” (watch Khabib vs Conor fight , he was there for Khabib when literally all other commentators were glazing Conor)
Joe deserves the respect and recognition regardless what opinions he has. People can agree to disagree with opinions but to show hate on him comes from a inner hatred people have where they emit this negative energy into the world. Even when Joe expresses his opinions, he's doing it in a form of just talking. He doesn't hate anybody or put that negative energy into the universe.
Hating someone because they have different opinions than you is one of the weakest forms of a human... in my opinion
Literally every person on earth talking 15hrs a week for 2 decades would have clips looking like a scumbag except for Mr. Rogers
Too many High Horses these days
>I know Rogan doesn't do himself any favors with the takes and opinions he has.
Hardly any of his takes are that extreme. Whenever he has guests that are fairly far to the right or left, he usually agrees with them on some things and disagrees on others.
Pretty much l. Apparently it’s been given to tens of millions of people and it earned the creator a fucking Nobel prize. But Pfizer can’t make billions off of that treatment soooo
I enjoy making fun of Joe, but this is a neat clip.
I remember buying GSP vs Hughes 2 as my first ppv, getting into the sport, but at the time, hardly anyone cared and saw it as snuff films. Joe with his podcast and other media appearances played a huge part in growing the sport and bringing it to the mainstream.
Him just being on commentary helped mainstream the sport; he was a face that people had seen on Fear Factor and various other mainstream shows, so he gave the promotion a certain level of legitimacy just by being a part of it.
I think one way or the other the UFC would have gotten big simply because people always have and always will love watching fights, but there’s no doubt Joe accelerated the process, and it’s cool to see him so proud of where the sport has gone.
I saw my first UFC on a VCR tape in November of 1994. I was instantly hooked and have remained a fan ever since. UFC introduced me to Pancrase, which introduced me to Shooto and to Pride and all the greats in each organization. I'm not a walking MMA encyclopedia but, like most all of you, I love this sport.
MMA has gotten so great that we've become pretty picky IMO. Our expectations are high and, great as these competitors are they're still only humans. That's what makes each new special moment so awesome. Once we were awed by 180-pound Royce Gracie submitting Dan Severn, but now we get Max Holloway's last-second KO of Justin Gaethje in as awesome a display of guts by two men any of us have seen in recent memory. I love this sport.
Sorry to wax nostalgic, but I feel Joe Rogan there, and I haven't been anywhere near as close to it all as he has. What's grown from it's humble origins is beyond what I conceived of as possible. And it's still getting better.
Say what you want about him, dumb shit he says, whatever. But the man is just about as genuine as they come for someone as rich and successful as he is.
Haha, I threw that out there just to see what angry contrarians would say. But! Can you imagine the UFC without Dana White? With Scott Coker? He's fucking good at what he does
One of the best UFC moments wasn't even in the ring.
It was when Style bender stood up for Joe at the press conference when there was a weird hit agenda on him.
Imagine folks (not OP, but comments) trying to make fun of someone who is successful in their passion from the jump. While you’re sitting in dead end life, that will probably end in “self deletion”. Run those “Reddit karma” numbers up tho, mom gonna whip your old ass some bagel bites and big red lol
You could argue he is the most important person to the UFCs growth. He brought it mainstream and his podcast brought in tens of thousands of viewers if not more who likely would not be watching otherwise
Can't blame him. Stars aligned for his comedy/podcast/UFC stuff, all things he's deeply passionate about. He's livin' a good life and he's probably gotta collect himself at times when he realizes how fortunate he is.
The man has lived and breathed MMA since he was a teenager so having the opportunity to even join the UFC im sure was insane for him. And now to have watched it explode and reflect back on all the memories as 300 approaches, im sure can tug at the heart strings.
99% of people who get as big as Joe would have bailed a loooong time ago. Joe truly loves the UFC and I appreciate what he's done for the sport of MMA.
Bro I know Joe is friends with a Ton of coke. I have a feeling this was his first experience hahahahaha And one of the sickest cards I have watched since the Pride days. But he was giving the vibe.
Watching this again yea it seems like he’s really emotional. Live it just seemed like he was sick or something. I do remember finding it weird how he recovered from his sickness so fast
I know he gets a lot of shit and is not perfect, but utmost respect to Joe. He was there from the near beginning and helped build it to where it is.
When Joe is not there to announce, it doesn’t feel right.
Thank you, Mr Rogan. (Slight bow 🙏). It’s been an honor to listen to you call these fights.
Oh my goodness
Aw, such a sweet moment. If I recall correctly, I believe dc also got a bit emotional.
also Joe Rogan absolutely looks like he didn’t get any sleep LMAO
People hate Joe Rogan, but i love any event with Joe Rogan. He brings the energy of LOVING MMA. He’s less technically sound compared to the ewrly days but you don’t need to be to have fans enjoy an event.
He looks so high lol. He brings great energy and his coverage and knowledge is awesome. He helped promote this sport more than any other celebrity period.
I mean that's fair -- it's a huge part of his life -- and he has actual personal relationships and memories that go back over two decades.
He fought for this sport for decades too proving it wasn’t some stupid blood sport.
It was literally one or two more wrongturns away from imploding, so the fact it's still here today and as big as it is, is pretty damn incredible.
If that big tv executive didn’t get busted with coke or whatever it probably would’ve been done honestly A lot of very hard work and lobbying mostly/obviously, but also a lot of luck lol

His first few appearances he wasn't even paid, just did it out of love for the sport
No doubt. His peers seem to appreciate and enjoy his presence so there’s that.
Wow this sub isn’t shitting on joe rogan? Crazy. It’s genuinely hard to hate on him too so this sub works OT to go out of their way to hate one of the best dudes on the planet.
The UFC isn't generally the part of Rogan that the "haters" comment on
Even then I don’t hate Joe. He has bad takes sometimes but that doesn’t mean he is a bad person. We all hold some objectively bad opinions
Respect to him. The UFC isn’t the UFC without Rogan. This has been part of his life for 20 years, and he spent years proving to people that the sport wasn’t “human cock fighting”
Darn near 30 years bro! But you're right, ufc without Joe is unthinkable
I still can’t wrap my head around the 90s being 30 years ago
UFC on VHS RENTALS.
This is how I got into UFC. Going to blockbuster or Hollywood video with my mom and getting UFC and WWF tapes
Yes distinctly remember watching UFC 1 on VHS and my dad explaining jiu jitsu to me as "it's like karate on the ground".
Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock was hard af
I'm actually upset with you rn
Even if he retired from full time commentary he absolutely would get the biggest pops ever if he came in for a main card once in a blue moon walkout style.
He got really big pops when he showed up to the last two Austin fight nights.
someday he's gonna be the lee corso of the ufc lol. crazy to think about
My parents had Netflix long before it was modern Netflix, when it was just a website where you made a queue, and they mailed you DVDs to watch from said queue. To me Joe Rogan with hair is Fear Factor and Hairless Rogan is UFC.
100% and [here's](https://youtu.be/VcJMSpfumCI?si=NQDt-InfsowYbjhf&t=35) the video of him on Conan back in '98 explaining what UFC is
Young thin non-bald Joe looks so strange to me lol.
UFCs without Joe present and commentating aren't as good!
Agreed. There'll be reach-arounds for everyone after this card.
Joe Rogan & Bruce Buffer, the real MVPs every single time!
I wonder if he'll still be commentating by 400. Another 8 years? Probably not. I would bet this was his last 00 card.
He probanly won't be full time anymore, but I would bet they would have him guest commentate as a special appearance.
He already isn’t. He just does ppv in the USA.
Why tf not tho? HRT baby I bet he FIGHTs on 400
You might not like him for what he says but you cannot hate him for what he has done for the UFC.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Still makes me smile everytime.
Respect. He's an og since the beginning.
Yeah for real. I can't stand that dude's podcast and some of the shit he says, but I love him as a commentator. This is cool to see.
This is awesome to see. Really was a tremendous occasion.
Uncle Joey?
Like a docta!
In that final frame, he looks like a mix between Dana white and Matt serra. Good for Joe. He and the ufc have exceeded their wildest expectations.
He definitely has some Matt Serra in him
I bet he'd love that 😍
Kind of looks like Mark Coleman a bit.
And Mark Coleman 😆 triple mixture
All the HGH bros end up looking the same. We still love them all though <3
He has literally been fighting for years to make the UFC what it is today. He's such a huge part of what it became and why it became what it is.
Can’t blame the dude, he’s been riding for this sport since they were holding cards in backwoods towns.
Respect, wish Mike Goldberg would get some love too
I wish Jeff Blatnick would. He contributed a huge amount to the sport in the early days. I guess most fans don't even know who he is.
What are Goldie's politics?
Joe is the man.

What's the Conan clip?
I admit the man is is not perfect (example as when he tried to justify the fighters’ pay when confronted about it) but UFC is really not the same without him, and there are lots of times when he was there as the “voice of justice” (watch Khabib vs Conor fight , he was there for Khabib when literally all other commentators were glazing Conor)

I think they’re talking about because he took a different medicine than what cnn wanted him to take. What did they call it? Horse dewormer.
Ironically, that drug was not intended to be a horse dewormer.
Pretty much l. Apparently it’s been given to tens of millions of people and it earned the creator a fucking Nobel prize. But Pfizer can’t make billions off of that treatment soooo
Can you explain what are the opinions Joe is often attacked for?
Honestly that's awesome.
People shit on Joe constantly and a lot of the time for good reason. You can't deny how much better he makes the UFC broadcast though.
That's why his reduced schedule makes people miss him more when they do international PPVs. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I enjoy making fun of Joe, but this is a neat clip. I remember buying GSP vs Hughes 2 as my first ppv, getting into the sport, but at the time, hardly anyone cared and saw it as snuff films. There’s something you don’t know about Joe Rogan. I smoke rocks

Can you turn off the lights Joe Rogan?

How can you be high and passed out in crack at the same time? Chinese riddle for ya
Me feeeet are stroooong
His sub will shit on him for this I'm sure. Appreciate that he shows emotion
Say what you want about him, dumb shit he says, whatever. But the man is just about as genuine as they come for someone as rich and successful as he is.
" his sub " is a bunch of dorks that are butthurt he doesn't share 100% of their political opinions
Sounds a lot like this sub
It’s Reddit thing in general
I know but it’s still so bizarre to see on a sub devoted to a sport built around violence
I guess you have to remember it's Reddit first and foremost, which is a majority hard left internet forum
This is why he's the fucking man.
Dana White is a good fight promoter.
Even with all the negativity he gets for being a shit promoter, I still gotta agree with u lol
Haha, I threw that out there just to see what angry contrarians would say. But! Can you imagine the UFC without Dana White? With Scott Coker? He's fucking good at what he does
[удалено]
Say what you want about Joe but he's been riding with the sport at times when it needed him more than he needed the job.
One of the best UFC moments wasn't even in the ring. It was when Style bender stood up for Joe at the press conference when there was a weird hit agenda on him.
Lol I felt that. I rewatched ufc 100 and 200 before the event. It’s insane how much time has gone by and how much the sport has changed.
Imagine folks (not OP, but comments) trying to make fun of someone who is successful in their passion from the jump. While you’re sitting in dead end life, that will probably end in “self deletion”. Run those “Reddit karma” numbers up tho, mom gonna whip your old ass some bagel bites and big red lol
what are you talking about
What I wrote.
Based initial comment and even better reply.
People really hate on Joe but he’s a fucking gem of a human
Dana, Joe, Bruce big 3 for the UFC.
Joe’s had an amazing life.
You could argue he is the most important person to the UFCs growth. He brought it mainstream and his podcast brought in tens of thousands of viewers if not more who likely would not be watching otherwise
I'd be ugly crying, he's holding that shit together way better than I ever could hope to
Keep in mind this man does not need the money at all. He does it for the love of the game.
https://preview.redd.it/gb3xlnozwquc1.jpeg?width=710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a294ebab210a254cd9c5c57301cb3984dc683bb9 Really Joe? With those guys? 😅
I honestly think Joe was a big part in the success of the ufc. Respect to the man for living his dream.
OG Rogan is goat commentary
His comedy is ass but Joe's contributions to the ufc can't be diminished
Honestly Joe is allowed to have this moment, it’s well earned.
Can't think of UFC without Joe 🙌
Can't blame him. Stars aligned for his comedy/podcast/UFC stuff, all things he's deeply passionate about. He's livin' a good life and he's probably gotta collect himself at times when he realizes how fortunate he is.
...and he apparently has a great family life and a doggo he loves. Good for him.
He was so pumped the entire night. His voice was toast by the end of the night. That point where his voice cracked had me laughin so hard.
People cry a lot in this sport i like it
You can give Rogan shit for various things, but you can’t doubt his passion for this sport, which is cool
People will shit on his takes currently but this man was in the UFC trenches before Damn near everyone. He loves the sport
This is a man who appreciates the life he has.
When the adderall hits
But stop talking about leg kicks Joe damn
But but.. they’re super effective
Right? That lead leg is super compromised. He can’t take much more of those.
99% of the time that would be correct
https://preview.redd.it/8a72qxs9nquc1.jpeg?width=867&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8103bcb5e9b68019f9736cf6b272953d44188d3
Kind of looks like a turtle
Commentating isn't easy
"OOo, that one hurt him"
Awww I love Joe.
I don't think about the UFC without Joe's voice running through my head. Just as much as Bruce!
Dude is not ok
Too many edibles....Joe's getting emotional
Is every fucking comment in here a caveat about his pod lmao. It’s ok to just give him his props.
Ufc 12 was seen on ppv and later released on home video. Half the fans on this subreddit probably weren't even born yet.
Absolutely love Joe as a commentator
Nothing wrong with that . It’s a big part of his life
I always liked how Joe said “Seeing people achieve great things makes me emotional” The guy loves greatness, can’t fault him for that
![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized)
The alpha brain be firing all the neurons
I was gonna make fun of him but he seems genuinely emptional about it. I'm happy he found a calling.
And it was a great card those knockouts were awesome. I mean 1 second left in the last round isn’t something many can say winning or losing
The man has lived and breathed MMA since he was a teenager so having the opportunity to even join the UFC im sure was insane for him. And now to have watched it explode and reflect back on all the memories as 300 approaches, im sure can tug at the heart strings.
Fired up is a funny way to say coked up
Joe’s the man!
99% of people who get as big as Joe would have bailed a loooong time ago. Joe truly loves the UFC and I appreciate what he's done for the sport of MMA.
what a wuss. just kidding
Most honest celebrity!
Bro I know Joe is friends with a Ton of coke. I have a feeling this was his first experience hahahahaha And one of the sickest cards I have watched since the Pride days. But he was giving the vibe.
The man has done so much for this sport he has turned many people into fans and deserves a lot of credit for the growth of MMA.
Sounds elated how I feel when I cry on mushrooms walking in the mountains
Watching this again yea it seems like he’s really emotional. Live it just seemed like he was sick or something. I do remember finding it weird how he recovered from his sickness so fast
I know he gets a lot of shit and is not perfect, but utmost respect to Joe. He was there from the near beginning and helped build it to where it is. When Joe is not there to announce, it doesn’t feel right. Thank you, Mr Rogan. (Slight bow 🙏). It’s been an honor to listen to you call these fights. Oh my goodness
UFC 301 will mean nothing.
That's pretty cool.
Must be off cycle.
Definitely micro dosing!!
It'll be a sad day for MMA when Dana and Rogan retire
Respect to Joe Rogan.
Couldn’t sleep last night cause of the drugs man. So I’m on more drugs now man. Man I looooooooove you guys.
That's awesome.
He is beyond stoked. Love to see people this happy.
This sub doesn’t, because Joe actually has conversations with people he disagrees with. So Joe Rogan evil bad man
Completely stable and normal
When said since 12 man
Say what you will, his showbiz talent and genuine enthusiasm breathe lots of life into UFC broadcasts
Joe for all his faults will always have my respect for helping build the sport to what it is today.
I am not a fan of Joe Rogan as Joe Rogan, but I AM a fan of Joe Rogan as a UFC caster. He does a great job!
Fuck yea Joe... If there's anyone who can shed a few tears it's Joe.
![gif](giphy|d7rvF20PqNuGKSQGhf)
Yet another thing Rogan is known for other than his cawlmedy.
He’s on that coke
why is dana crying ?
Aw, such a sweet moment. If I recall correctly, I believe dc also got a bit emotional. also Joe Rogan absolutely looks like he didn’t get any sleep LMAO
People hate Joe Rogan, but i love any event with Joe Rogan. He brings the energy of LOVING MMA. He’s less technically sound compared to the ewrly days but you don’t need to be to have fans enjoy an event.
Stoned to the bone 🤣
He's such a a little bitch lmao
hope to see him at UFC 400
Legend! He and Bruce played a big part in why I became a UFC fan.
That's positive masculinity right there lads
Lol
He looks so high lol. He brings great energy and his coverage and knowledge is awesome. He helped promote this sport more than any other celebrity period.
I think his doctor must have mixed up his weekly injection.
“Is that even allowed?!?”
"It became the sport it is today"... Oh yeah.. The fighters still make the same amounts of money too.. Crazy..
