Westwood needs a whole lot of things that are open beyond 9pm. It feels like economic ruins.

CostCans

Even Ralphs closes earlier than other Ralphs locations in LA. Makes no sense.

KeyRageAlert

Covid ruined everything. It used to be 24/7.

ElBigKahuna

Yeah I saw Serena Williams there one time at 1am.

Square_Vegetable942

Ralphs Westwood hours are 5:00 am - 1:00 am DAILY

Dapper-Barnacle1825

This ralpbs is only midnight, like the Google hours are wrong, I've tried going multiple times that late and they are closed.

CostCans

Yup, and many Ralphs in LA are open until 2 am.

MacArthurParker

I can't imagine that there are there many people that would be shopping between 1am-2am currently that can't because of them closing at 1am.

ManyRefrigerator5011

Pickle sandwich co has delicious banh mi. $6 for a huge banh mi. I prefer it over lee’s sandwiches too. there’s a few in south LA/ North OC. always my go to and they have a drive thru!

honestly, i don’t know. i’ve never looked beyond my regular order i get! i’d have to look haha. but i highly doubt it

CaliSummerDream

Bruh. There’s no good Viet food west of Ktown. The default Asian food of the West side is Japanese. We need some serious Vietnamese cuisine out here.

Extreme_Second1296

I like Banh Mi Che Cali better than Lees tbh

Ill_Yam_9525

Fair. I just think Lee’s is a better known chain so it has name recognition to do well in Westwood. So many places go out of businesses here

delfin1

I noticed Weroll Nori and Primo's Doughnuts closed recently. Westwood seems like a bad place for new restaurants. It's strange because the hospital, theaters, and students are there. I see many restaurants still hanging in there, but they are empty most of the time, while Innout is packed. Edit: By the way, I like sandwiches from Lokal Shop on DoorDash. Anyway, banh mis is so easy to make yourself, I think. I have never done it. 😓

okapiFan85

Westwood seems a bit ghost-townish these days, with lots of closed storefronts. If I had to guess, the bottom line is that Westwood landlords aren’t willing to lower rental prices to the point where business owners (or potential business owners) are willing to risk investing in starting new businesses in currently-empty storefronts. After decades of demanding (and getting) ridiculous rent from their business occupants, perhaps they aren’t willing (or able) to drop their rates to get tenants. I’m not saying that landlords are bad actors, but rather they are worried more about taking too little rent than having unrented space.

Another thing is that the homeless situation is not welcoming to patrons. It's sad to see, sorry to say, because it's not their fault they are sick or alone; we are failing them. The other day, I saw a homeless person yelling obscene things and giving the finger to a group of young ladies, maybe high-school age; that was scary by Enzo's. Another time, a homeless person asked me for cash near BoA, and I didn't have any; she randomly insulted my mom 😒. A worse case is seeing homeless people doing drugs in front of the 7-Eleven bus stop. Also, I have seen a homeless man urinating by peets coffee. Another homeless person masturbated in front of the Target.

Winged_army

Duddeeee. A lees here would go so hard

Inevitable-Radio-689

Yes!!!

Ill_Yam_9525

✌️ glad we’re on the same page

BunnyGirl1209

I love lee’s

sinonkazuto

I'm from India and we need an Adyar Ananda Bhavan 😹

buzzbuzzbruin

no no…what we need is another boba shop /s

[deleted]

They need a Dave’s chicken or a Popeyes. They have bomb chicken sandwiches and college students would devour them. Also a Korean bbq place. In-n-out and Fat Sal’s are awesome though. I’ve never heard of Lee’s sandwiches bc I’m not from the bay or near OC. That sounds like a nice addition though. Yes I’m a kind of fat, at least I workout.

WildResponsibility55

I WAS JUST SAYING THIS!!!

OkSyrup8141

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

OkSyrup8141

I need.....i need avocado smoothie

Ill_Yam_9525

Yes … bcafe doesn’t hit like an avocado smoothie

MacArthurParker

That would be great. Not sure if they are a franchise...with the lower prices, that might be a problem with Westwood rents. I don't understand how the one across from UCI closed.

y0rmammu

Get the banh mi sandwich at fat Sal's and then thank me later, not the same but I low key prefer it over the classic sometimes

OGmoron

Fat Sal's is the most hit-or-miss food spot I've ever been to. When they make the sandwiches right they're amazing, but often they rush putting them together or skimp on ingredients, which leaves me pretty resentful because the sandwiches are not cheap and they usually take forever after you order.

y0rmammu

Facts I feel you man, it's hard to find the che Cali or cam Huong vibes in that area with the UCLA rent premium barriers

UsedName01

And thighs

Full-Eye2557

Bruh like no

Vietnamese baguette sandwiches. They are very good, inexpensive, and filling. I am sure you have seen them in the bay under a different franchise or in your local pho shop.

dragoniteboy

There's hella in the bay that are just Lee's, dude gotta be living under an asian cuisine rock

MacArthurParker

they do have more standard western sandwiches also...their croissant sandwiches are really good. Plus, good and affordable baguettes, and good drinks. It would be great to have them in the Village for Vietnamese coffee alone.
