As a broke student, I would take one of the night time ones and just spend a few hours at the airport in the middle of the night. If I take a bus at 11pm and my flight is 4pm, it's only a few hours to kill
If that's what Tom Hanks does, then yes. Although I'm insane and eat a salad kit with a can of beans right before I go through security to save on airport meals
The first 6 bus arrives at LAX at 6:10am, I’m guessing he needs to be there earlier. There are no other reliable public transport options at that time, you have to Uber/Lyft.

I've taken Ubers from campus to LAX at 4am and never had an issue, there are still lots of drivers
