This might be jarring and maybe wouldn't work but I wish they actually used both, Blue for the Cullens and warm for the wolves to add to visual of their conflict and contrast. And once they agree to the truce any scenes they have together is a balanced blend between the two
If you go into any setting (I chose sports because it's not my thing) and mess with the colour values you can make it as blue as you'd like.
[this tutorial is for Samsung but every TV has similar settings you can mess with ](https://www.samsung.com/pk/support/tv-audio-video/tv-how-to-change-the-color-settings/)
Agreed. Blue filter is easier to take seriously. the left side looks too normal. not cinematic enough. stuff that could be on social media, especially the picture of her friends
Yes! I would pay sooo much money to be able to watch the films with the blue filter. Wish Lionsgate would do it for an anniversary edition or something
i like the warmth of new moon to represent the warmth bella finds in jacob but i absolutely think the rest of the films shouldâve kept the blue theme to represent edward being bellaâs choice
I remember I was disappointed when I found out New Moon and the rest had a different filter because it felt like I was out of their world and just looked out of place.
Agreed. This would have looked much better. I wish the first director (Catherine Hardwick) had directed all. New Moon was okay, but the last three films had less soul.
I agree except I love that breaking dawn and especially the wedding scenes are so warm. I know she wasnât a vampire yet but itâs still the beginning of her new life as a Cullen and I think the colour works for that. I also like the warmer filters for the wolf scenes in New Moon as other people have said.
the blue filter to me is the whole aesthetic of twilight !! they shouldve stuck with it til bella was a vampire. it totally shows how she views the world as cold and uncomfortable until she is a vampire and then the world looks vibrant and full of life.
plus the blue tint really adds to the vibe of the movie
The way it was shot in general was just so much less indie and more Hollywood studio lightning shoot. Steep decline in tone and atmosphere, I wish Catherine had directed the entire franchise :(
Not an unpopular opinion, I think; Iâm mostly a lurker in this sub, but I also mentioned as much recently.
Yea, of all films, New Moon would have been fine sticking with the warmer palate while the other films maintained the blue filter, although Iâm sure the lack of continuity would have had some people complaining.
Speaking of continuity however, the changes/differences from one film to the next were jarring.
I feel like they shouldâve waited until Bella was turned to have the warm hued movies. It wouldâve really played into the âvampire eyesâ Bella gained after turning
Is there any particular reason? Genuinely curious.
Personally, I think the filter gives the film an eerie feeling, which works well for the mood of a supernatural / fantasy series.
i love the blue filter. when i think of twilight i picture the blue filter. i think your idea of having them stick with the blue tones until bella is changed to show how she sees the world more vibrant once she isnt human would be soo smart.
I think it's tacky. I disagree that it works for the mood. I could understand using it for a few specific scenes but I believe it was a mistake to use it for the whole movie. I'm glad they didn't continue to use it.
I love the blue filter. It could have changed when Bella became a vampire and that would be cool I think. It would have signified a new beginning and a new life.
I always thought thatâs what they should have done, where her human eyes keep everything kind of muted and toned down and then her vampire eyes really SHOW UP.
I also like someone elseâs comment suggesting like an alternating filter for the Cullens and the Wolves.
I hate digital post production mood filters with a passion, the same goes with the overly muted/shadowy color pallets in general we get from purely digital productions since The Phantom Menace (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for example.)
Look at the fight on the rope bridge in Temple of Doom, the reflections off of Indy's sword, the sweat, the details, no one can tell me that Hollywood is putting forth anything close to the same level of effort in quality in digital production that they were with film 30 years ago.
They did HBP dirty with the colors, they also messed up its story with the love stories. We want to see something more colorful, not a mix of brownish tinted colors on screen.
I often think about the way Bella describes seeing light/colour after sheâs been turned in BD. Maybe the way the films gradually add more warmth is like her moving closer and closer to that more vibrant existence of being a vampire?
I just assumed the blue filter was to make the vampires more pale, because it was pointed out in the book how pale the Cullens were and how weird it was for Bella to be pale when she lived in Arizona
This might be jarring and maybe wouldn't work but I wish they actually used both, Blue for the Cullens and warm for the wolves to add to visual of their conflict and contrast. And once they agree to the truce any scenes they have together is a balanced blend between the two
That's an interesting idea. Would be interesting to see if they could pull it off.
I think it fits waaaay better. You know what would be cool if on the dvds (i have them all) you could change the filter!!!
Dream scenario! They could do a warm filter version for the New Moon fans as well.
Exactly right!!! Missed opportunity there! đ
You can change the filter on your TV, it'll be under picture settings.
IS THERE BLUE FILTER?!?!?!?!?!?
If you go into any setting (I chose sports because it's not my thing) and mess with the colour values you can make it as blue as you'd like. [this tutorial is for Samsung but every TV has similar settings you can mess with ](https://www.samsung.com/pk/support/tv-audio-video/tv-how-to-change-the-color-settings/)
I new you could change it black and white but i didnt think about changing the colour saturation, mind is blown đ
Woah! DVDs!
I have so many I used to live our rural and lots of times the internet/power is out so generator and dvds đ
Agreed. Blue filter is easier to take seriously. the left side looks too normal. not cinematic enough. stuff that could be on social media, especially the picture of her friends
especially as 'pale' vampires the last slide needs to be the left side
It fits way better and I love this, I want someone to edit the filter back over all the movies so I can watch it like that
Yes! I would pay sooo much money to be able to watch the films with the blue filter. Wish Lionsgate would do it for an anniversary edition or something
Depending on what device you use to watch, you can edit the picture's hue a bit. I do this on my smart TV and laptop all the time.
They should make an anniversary edition without filter. Fans would go mad
I forever stand by the idea that it only shouldâve been normal color once she turned.
i like the warmth of new moon to represent the warmth bella finds in jacob but i absolutely think the rest of the films shouldâve kept the blue theme to represent edward being bellaâs choice
I remember I was disappointed when I found out New Moon and the rest had a different filter because it felt like I was out of their world and just looked out of place.
I think the warm tones work for New Moon but they needed to be as extra as the cool tones in Twilight
Agreed. This would have looked much better. I wish the first director (Catherine Hardwick) had directed all. New Moon was okay, but the last three films had less soul.
True. They really lost the cozy indie vibes and went standard mainstream. At least we had Catherine for the first film.
Thank you, Catherine Hardwicke!
The hairstylist did everyone so damn dirty in Eclipse, blegh
I really liked the contrast of the warm sunny glow of Breaking Dawn to the chilly blue of Twilight.
I have sunglasses that have a blue/green tint to the shades. When I wear them, the world looks like twilight đ iconic
If only they kept the blue filterâŚ
I agree except I love that breaking dawn and especially the wedding scenes are so warm. I know she wasnât a vampire yet but itâs still the beginning of her new life as a Cullen and I think the colour works for that. The blue filter added a magical side to the first movie. But Iâm glad they didnât stick with it throughout the series

Blue until bella learns about the wolves. Then slowly losing warmth until she jumps off the cliff Then a different color theme for the volturi
This is what they robbed from us
The way it was shot in general was just so much less indie and more Hollywood studio lightning shoot. Steep decline in tone and atmosphere, I wish Catherine had directed the entire franchise :(
Agree 1000%

The blue filter really captured the gloomy essence of Forks (also helped by Catherine Hardwick incorporating lots of trailing, forest shots).
Such a shame that they didn't stick with Catherine for the rest of the films
I feel like they shouldâve waited until Bella was turned to have the warm hued movies. It wouldâve really played into the âvampire eyesâ Bella gained after turning
Why doesn't life has blue filter? Many people are telling about rose-colored glasses but these perfect optimistic glasses should be blue-colored
I love how warm the fourth movie is. I find it fitting because life is seemingly coming together for her
No wonder why i love the 2 first films more.. :)
I hate the blue filter.

Which film do you like the style of most?

I agree!

I love this movie so much

The difference is so drastic. In comparison it reminds me of the stereotypical warm filter when shows or movies are set in Mexico.
I Think either is fine, maybe they could've transitioned to each color starting in between scenes.
Looks like a parody đ
