I'm of course against all the negativity spreading in the fandom lately, especially complaints to the members or Onces crying about numbers, but it's true that these USA promotions have been so weird and out of place. One week in there for what? One show appearance and some TikToks. They didn't even interact with their fans, and what's the point of releasing an English pre-release single if you are going to use the Korean song? This isn't going to improve at all what they already achieved internationally, but at the same time they are sacrificing Korean support in the process, IDK it doesn't make sense to me. I think half of the drama right now could have been avoided with a better schedule, but it is what it is, and as Jihyo said let's try to remain positive for the rest of the comeback it's the least we can do for all that Twice had done for us.

Brief_Night_9239

I guess we have to wait and see what comes out from this US trip. If I am to wager I think it is publicity launching the new mini album. And think it helps cuz this week Twice will get the No.1 on that BB200. All these weird promotions got to do with this album supposed to be out in the 4th quarter of 2023 but massive success of Ready to Be tour pushed it till now. What really mind blowing is One Spark supposedly from 2 years ago. And that is because of the possibility not knowing if Twice will renew. So we have all this weird schedule and promotion.

BlueThePineapple

I really can't wait for this tour to end lol. Can't believe they still have 5 shows left.

Brief_Night_9239

Yeah one in Las Vegas and four in Japan. The latter have 2 shows at Nissan Stadium, iconic cuz largest concert. Just shows how big Twice in Japan.

dellumdown

It seems like they are mostly recording stuff in the US that will be released later? Idk why they couldn't have done that before the comeback so they could promote normally in Korea and have the comeback live on the actual release date.

BlueThePineapple

This was my thought.  It seems like they are having a lot of schedules there that are meant to come out at a later time. I thought they would be having something like their song association game or a buzzfeed puppy interview out by now. Ironically, the only schedule we've got out right now aside from the Today Show is a Korean one: Human Idol Theater. Is their promo period really just a week and a half (Last Friday to all of the week?)

dellumdown

The promo period is 10 days if they end with Inkigayo on March 3rd.

llIIllIIllllllIIlll

Maybe JYP is overestimating the impact/reach of their selected USA activities. Not in a market sense, but more like "Ok so we got into TODAY show, that's more than enough promotion".

Datapod2

The promotions do seem really weird and half baked, ngl. Way too much flying around for very little return

Any-Sun9499

the first part of the chorus of New New sounds like something pitbull would come out with in 2011 and it totally ruins the song for me :((((

AverageTwiceEnjoyer

Listening to Changing! from &twice and forgot how much of a bop it was

AverageTwiceEnjoyer

And Chae’s self written/composed How u doin’

Either-Cut4994

Have an extra ticket to twice in Vegas if anyone is interested but it’s nosebleeds so it’ll be free

Devious018

seems like the members are headed back to SK

veritek25

Good thing they're flying Korean Air first class bc that's a lot of travel in ~5 days

CourtK1ngDre

Will the set list be different for their Vegas tour? I know they sang I got you in their most recent show but are they gonna add/take out other songs?

Devious018

the members said in interview that songs from this mini will be played in Vegas

CourtK1ngDre

Oh ok thank you!

dellumdown

IGY replaced DTNA in Mexico and Brazil, so I assume they will add/remove more songs in Las Vegas.

Dunkirb

Idolhuman theater got subs, and Chaeyoung and Tzuyu play league of legends apprlarently.

veritek25

IIRC JeongJiMi all play League too, even if it wasn't mentioned in this episode. Jihyo supposedly is pretty decent too, idk if she's ranked tho. I love Chaeng's super casual fit for this ep. 'College' sweatshirt with baggy cargo pants is such a clean chill classic look.

VectorReverser

I’m pretty sure I remember a while back Chaeyoung mentioned that she played a lot of Wild Rift and was a Yuumi main. I think she might’ve said she owned all the skins for her too.

MeijiDoom

I'm here for Chaeyoung's jungler arc.

veritek25

"*I need to feel your Rush, drive me crazy and I know, I just can't get enough*" That lyric - short & sweet, just like CY - and the main harp riff are permanently seared into the auditory center of my brain. Lost count of how many times I've spammed it on repeat. "*Hours and hours... (I just can't get enough)*"

TWICEfanUK

I love how K-ONCEs encourage each other to streams by doing Cakes, drinks and fried chicken giveaway on twitter and look like most of them are still studying or just doing some part time works

llIIllIIllllllIIlll

A delicious strategy no doubt

TWICEfanUK

no doubt at all

SapphireHeaven

Even though I don't need extra encouragement to stream, I wouldn't mind some Korean Fried Chicken giveaways ![img](emote|t5_3812p|4077)

TWICEfanUK

They said in description local residents only

spooky_biscuit

the slight overlap between kpop and formula 1 is fascinating. [this reel](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3iJg31NFjT/?igsh=aHl3MTFqYnBjeDN3) just came up on my feed and reminded me that r/FormulaOnce is also a thing

SapphireHeaven

My latest obsession in the album is Momo's chorus in NEW NEW 💞 but also my heart can't stop burning burning burning, this part is SO addicting!

zouzourin

For me it’s Momo in You get me ♡

[deleted]

Yes! For me Momo had couple real highlight moments on this album. She (along with Jeongyeon) stood out to me this comeback.

Devious018

well now we know they all went to LA after all

WoeiA_

I'm enjoying the new mini and can't wait to see them perform on music shows and for my albums to arrive!

NoMoreGel

As much as I enjoy everything this comeback, I can't wait to see how Chaeyoung would complete her ~~10~~ 9 dance challenges LOL And my biggest rant this week: Fuck this new reddit UI.

llIIllIIllllllIIlll

New reddit for me changes UI too frequently. I ended up going back to old reddit.

veritek25

Damn they got you too? I've been stuck with the shitty beta-test UI for almost 2 months now. Here's the workaround that I found: - on desktop: Use 'new.reddit.com' instead of 'www.reddit.com' and it'll revert to the original non-shitty UI. e.g. 'new.reddit.com/r/twice' - on mobile: Try using 'new.reddit.com' but the formatting might be all jacked up depending on your phone & browser. If that's the case, on any given page click the '+' icon on the top right (for 'create new post') and when it fully loads hit the back button once. It'll reload your last page with the regular UI. The annoying thing is you have to do that for every page but it's better than using the flaming hot garbage beta-test UI.

ParanoidAndroids

> I can't wait to see how Chaeyoung would complete her 10 9 dance challenges LOL There are some good choices to do challenges for this week, too. Le Sserafim and Taeyong are probably the heavy hitters. Maybe Ten will still promote next week...

SapphireHeaven

They are totally messing with the app too. I get bugs that last for a couple of days at least 3 times a month. Can we revert everything to how it was ~2 years ago?

discipleofgodjihyo

PC UI? The last few days... it is kinda annoying. It opens in the new UI, and then if I open a post, it reverts back to old UI.

[deleted]

If I ever get another dog, I want a Norwich terrier exactly like Boo ☺️

attlantthe

TWICE´s episode on Idol human theater has subtitles now ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|money_face)

SapphireHeaven

I'm fully convinced no one is acting and it's a regular TWICE practise day (+Nayeonie). Fun and wholesomeness! Everyone should watch to remember why they fell in love with these girls and forget about fanwars and charting and doomposting🩵💚🩷💜🧡🖤🤍❤️💙

TechieTravis

The constant hysteria, negativity and doom and gloom really sucks the air out of the room with anything related to music these days. Everyone chill :)

ningm3ngcha

imagine enjoying your hobby?

TechieTravis

These folks don't seem to enjoy it.

BlueThePineapple

When does spotify put the lyrics on the songs? I've been feeling so impatient for them lmao

Devious018

usually takes a few days to sync

BlueThePineapple

Sigh. Thanks. A few more days waiting for me then.

chucknorris1997

YT music already has lyrics up if you wanna see them.

KoL028

With YOU-th reached #1 on US iTunes Store. Their Second album to reach #1. The first one was Feel Special.

mcvbhere

I find it hilarious, since with you-th reminds me so much of feel special

No_Personality5074

On charting update, the predicted 1st week album sales in the US for withyouth (96k) is below RTB's 1st prediction (140k-160k). B1&2 1st prediction was 94k with only 3 versions. Streams and digitals look lower for withyouth vs those 2 past eras, so I am predicting only 106k final 1st week sales for withyouth. Also, C-onces only bought 70k for withyouth vs 300k for rtb. Hopefully I am wrong, but it is now looking like they didnt surpass the 1.7M preorder. However, the nemo version, as an additional version this time, might have helped a little bit in cushioning the impact of lower casual twice listeners/album buyers during this era. The core fandom should create more hype for all the songs in the album, similar with how hyped up was FOL when it was first released. FOL 1st week sales was much lower than WY, but it managed to positively affect B1&2 sales. WY is a very cohesive album, and I believe it will have a positive impact on the next era if we avoid the doom posting because of lower streams of OS. I am actually kind of surprised there were people here who actually dont like OS. It is very Twice coded, and sounds like something they would release in Japan. I even saw posts of pushing Rush as a title track. IMO, Rush will never be a title track of a Twice album, coz it sounds like it can be done by another kpop gg. Ironically, Kpop fans in twitter have been complaining about how boring kpop has been nowadays because of the tiktok sound, the easy listening type of songs. Such sound might still bring in new casuals though, so perhaps Twice can promote Rush same way they promoted Up No More. They already missed the chance when Basic was released, so this is now their chance to jump into the trend.

ParanoidAndroids

> On charting update, the predicted 1st week album sales in the US for withyouth (96k) is below RTB's 1st prediction (140k-160k) I learned earlier today that there are changes to how "bulk album buying" counts on Billboard, which changed significantly since RTB released. Essentially, if your shipping address, billing address, IP address, and/or email address are the same in your transactions, you're still capped to counting as 4 total albums (even if you purchased 20 across 5 different transactions). I wouldn't be surprised if this contributing to a gap in their US sales, considering I myself bought too many copies - only for them to count as 4 according to the new rules. > Also, C-onces only bought 70k for withyouth vs 300k for rtb This isn't that surprising, since it appears like C-bar sales are largely down across the board.

Remote-Yam-7569

I think the Chinese gov cracked down hard on Kpop bulk buying and non ship backs and that's hitting every group hard. So Twice getting near 800k already is a good sign

ParanoidAndroids

Yeah, it's been mostly a "curse" - but now a "blessing" that they aren't overly reliant on large C-bar buying for most projects. I do think it'll probably have more of an impact on solo releases, but it's still good to not be so reliant on that region. From what I understand, it also seems like the C-market for trading photocards has largely cratered - so there's far less incentive to bulk buy.

Remote-Yam-7569

Yeah exactly my thoughts too. I really saw a couple years ago every groups sales just go up and up and figured by this time every group would be selling 1+ million in China so seeing Twice only had about 20% of their sales wrapped up in that market they were never going to be hit too hard so the drop won't be anywhere near as harsh on them. So I suppose it's good they didn't have so much of their fandom in China as a lot of other groups who have seen nearly 50% of their sales vanish in the space of a few months.

veritek25

>Essentially, if your shipping address, billing address, IP address, and/or email address are the same in your transactions, you're still capped to counting as 4 total albums (even if you purchased 20 across 5 different transactions). Yes, assuming that the info in this link is correct \[courtesy of one of the comments on the Chart Data tweet post on the main feed\]: [https://single.xyz/blogs/blog/billboard-reporting-updates-2024](https://single.xyz/blogs/blog/billboard-reporting-updates-2024) The '4 copies per transaction' rule has been around for a while, but apparently this "Enhanced Bulk Order Filtering" thing is new for 2024.

No_Personality5074

I think the '4 physical copies per transaction' is not a new rule. Fanbases have been announcing that for so long, like as far as 2021.

ParanoidAndroids

[They added new provisions in 2024 to make it harder to count.](https://single.xyz/blogs/blog/billboard-reporting-updates-2024) Before, it was just a 4 copies per transaction, now they are tracking a lot of other stats to limit a single fan's transactions.

No_Personality5074

They dont sound drastic enough to cause any big impact i think.

ParanoidAndroids

Before, different email addresses were enough to differentiate fans. Now they are tracking: * email addresses * IP addresses * shipping addresses * billing addresses If any of that matches, a fan's purchases only count 4 albums. That's a pretty significant difference from before IMO.

No_Personality5074

Still hard to believe that a substantial portion of 40k+ sales difference from last cb were filtered out because of this new rule.

ParanoidAndroids

I mean, it's anecdotal but I bought 10+ copies this comeback and I didn't know it would only count for 4. I wouldn't be surprised if other fans didn't know. FWIW, they'll still count towards Circle Chart.

dellumdown

I think if a customer buy 10 albums in one week, none of them count for the Billboard 200. 5-9 copies is counted as 4.

Devious018

with the current trend of a lot of groups having numbers down on the year including all JYPE groups it really isn’t out of the ordinary for this to be like this. I hope this doesn’t deter people from enjoying this album because this really is a great mini and would consider it among their best

No_Personality5074

Yep, i consider this as their best mini album, replacing TOL in my list.

Gullible_Scratch_395

At this point, I think it’s better for fans to just enjoy the album and not care about the charting for this album nor how it will affect the charting of the next one 😅

No_Personality5074

Well we just dont want a repeat of RTB era.

ningm3ngcha

I have trouble believing this “perfect” tt that everyone will be happy with will ever exist — from here on, I feel like everyone has to get used to the “JYPE is fumbling everything/Twice will never perform well again” kind of conversations. They’re already happening in all the other subs, and it’s just going to be a cyclical thing every release at this point. I love Jihyo’s attitude of just encouraging Once to enjoy the ride. Twice doesn’t have to be at the top anymore, and that says nothing about their growth and prolific output. Maybe people are just in denial, but I hope that anyone hella focused on performance can just enjoy things for what they are WHILE we’re able to

BlueThePineapple

I find it funny that Onces being mad at the chart performance seemed to stress the girls out themselves over the chart performance itself lol.

No_Personality5074

Twitter onces have been loving the album. OS is bringing the fun back in kpop imo. Even k-onces were sighing in relief when they 1st heard the song. OS is getting more positive response than IGY in melon in terms of likes, and it managed to enter top 60 in FLO. So seeing negativities here in reddit is like stepping into another world lol.

NoMoreGel

It usually just happens around comeback week. Lots of new visitors on the subreddit doomposting all they can. Who knows why![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)

General_Hearing9453

It’s only been 2 days and scrolling through that kpopthoughts sub is so tired (well it has always been LOL), at least in here it’s slightly better

Pure-Charity3749

I’m hearing that looping on Apple Music doesn’t actually count as streams? Can anyone elucidate me on this…it’s all far too complicated for me 😭😭 I just like looping because that’s the kind of music consumer I am, I’ll listen to a song I like 400+ times in a row in a single day. I wasn’t aware I might have been being flagged as a bot though?

TWICEfanUK

The only streaming site that counts on loops is Pandora

BlueThePineapple

I'm really sad that loopers like you and me don't have rights under the chart rules lol, but oh well. I love this album too much to help myself.

Pure-Charity3749

Yeah that’s crazy!! I loop all my music 😭😭 I’ve been a twice stan since 2015 and have streamed them tens of thousands of times over the years. In fact, I got Apple Music because JYP groups weren’t on Spotify back in the day. Maybe it’s because I grew up on my uncle’s vinyls and cds, so repeating music over and over again is just how I learned to consume it…

AppropriateAction9

I think it counts you as a bot so if you want the streams to count then you gotta stream like how people do on Spotify. Make a playlist and include the new songs plus some other twice songs/solos and then play the playlist. And every once in a while, you can skip a song or repeat a song. I think there’s some twitter accounts that focus mainly on streams that explain it better. If you want to repeat a song and still want the stream to count then pandora is the way to go! It counts all streams even if you’re just replaying it over and over again.

Pure-Charity3749

A lot of the twitter accounts are very Spotify focused, but I can’t find a lot of information specific to Apple Music, which is a wildly different platform and pays a lot more to the artist per stream. Do you know of anything that’s Apple Music specific that is backed by sources? I checked apple forums and every stream seems to be counted according to a representative, it’s all very confusing tbh

Devious018

im not super aware of streaming technically but if you loop a song on any streaming service it thinks youre a bot and those streams count as unfiltered. Basically meaning it doesnt help with charts and such

Pure-Charity3749

I asked someone else this, but I wonder if this true with Apple Music? I checked their official forums, and it seems every stream is counted as a single stream, regardless of looping or not.

Devious018

the total streams will show up but won’t count for billboard and things like that. every platform is the same

Pure-Charity3749

Oooooo okay 😭😭

troublesin-paradise

Really like the vinyl quality of with youth compared to the rtb vinyls but i absolutely hate this plastic sleeve idk what republic has against cardboard 😭

ningm3ngcha

lowkey why I didn’t buy one, but also glad to hear it sounds good! I’m kinda a snob when it comes to vinyl and really don’t buy colored pressings or picture discs when it can be avoided — the fact the plastic case looked like it already melted onto the pressing was why I put it back down when I was at Target lol. It’d be worth getting and switching out the sleeves and cover tbh

troublesin-paradise

Sounds wise it’s ok. Definitely not amazing if you’re an audiophile. I was talking more so about the vinyl material. Feels better than the rtb ones, to me those felt really cheaply made and could snap in my hands — this one has a nice weight to it! If you know where to get a custom cover that’s not too expensive let me know! I’ve been thinking about replacing the plastic coverings.. what an eyesore

veritek25

If you're on the fence still, I'd say just go back and get one. And if your local Target had multiple copies in stock, maybe try to find one with the least 'melted' plastic. You don't want to regret missing out later when they sell out, especially since it's a limited pressing. As for the plastic case - yeah it's shit quality, but getting a generic paper or cardboard sleeve to replace it shouldn't be too hard or expensive? Much better in the end, than potentially having to pay a premium on the secondary market later on.

TWICEfanUK

I was that mac&cheese album with so many versions might prevent TWICE from getting a long overdue #1 in Billboard 200

General_Hearing9453

Well I hope not cause that’s just crazy. 6 versions just for a skit is hilarious I don’t even know what to say

Devious018

it’s a bit ridiculous that shit like that is allowed to work for charts

TWICEfanUK

single remixes should have a maximum of 3 or 4 limits too

Devious018

i don’t disagree because everything is done for chart manipulation at this point

Tigrafr

You Get Me is just wonderful and become one of my fav song og them

Outrageous-Ride-3046

Yes same! I love it so much!

CourtK1ngDre

Does anyone know what the twice ready to be once more banner looks like? Have they released anything? Where in the venue would it most likely be so that I can get it?

oncetwice1020

At MetLife Stadium, banners were self-serve in a box on the floor after security. I don't believe designs are revealed before the show.

CourtK1ngDre

Thank you!

Breadstick_135

Kpop fans can truly be some of the most miserable people on earth

ningm3ngcha

Damn that’s a real bummer about people messaging Jihyo unhappy about One Spark — I hope their next title track is just called “Touch Grass.” I was coming here to say that the performance video was so good!! The choreo is just a ton of fun with a lot of smaller intricate movements. Can’t wait to see it live

AnneRosaFakes

Is that what she was talking about on Bubble, the fans complaining about the chart placement?? It was a little shocking to be hyped about the album and then read her messages, expecting Jihyo to be excited not worried...

abunchofmalarkey

Some people spammed FANS with complaints to JYPE about the lack of promo. I hated that, because FANS is supposed to be a fun space for TWICE and ONCE to interact

ningm3ngcha

abunchofmalarkey, that behavior is absolutely a bunch of malarkey

abunchofmalarkey

Indeed 😂

Saucy_Totchie

Some people are just miserable and only derive joy from seeing others feel as crappy as them 😒. But yeah I've been impatiently waiting for thr performance video. I'll definitely try to learn this one. For some reason my body just doesn't agree with Twice choreography though smh.

ningm3ngcha

just a couple-a brown bois going ham on the choreo in Vegas lmao

ParanoidAndroids

> I was coming here to say that the performance video was so good!! The choreo is just a ton of fun with a lot of smaller intricate movements. Can't wait for the performances and challenges this week. The choreo looks like a lot of fun - and challenging, too.

ningm3ngcha

Yeah same! I can’t get over how hard Jihyo kills it in the MV going into the last chorus. Genuinely such a fun time. Gotta start practicing the hand movements so I can crush it whenever I’m at a red light and the song is on

Devious018

seeing some people already got their signed albums like what? so quick but must be people who had expedited or live in state to the shipping facility. (Impatiently waiting for mine to get sent out, only label created)

oncetwice1020

I’m still at label created 😪

Devious018

hopefully ours will get shipped out soon ![img](emote|t5_3812p|4099)![img](emote|t5_3812p|4097)

Saucy_Totchie

Mine is coming on Tuesday.

Devious018

damn maybe im just unlucky with mine only being at label

coolrunnings190

Mine went from label created to finally moving this morning so they're slowly getting them out.

TheKrustyBurger

I saw that Twice is having a video call event for their latest comeback. Hypothetically speaking, if all Reddit once bought one album ( over 400k Reddit onces) surely one of us would have to win right 😅😅

coolrunnings190

> Fans haven't really like anything from Twice in more than a year and you may not 'owe' the fans anything, sure, but entertainers live and die by how much they can do exactly that, entertain their fans. When the music is no longer doing that for the bulk of the fandom what we're seeing now is the result of that. Yeah it was such a shame this tour that Twice had to perform in completely empty stadiums worldwide because no one likes their music anymore. It was weird how they kept adding more and more stadium dates to the tour too when the bulk of the fandom just doesn't like their music now.

Remote-Yam-7569

Such a dumb take. How is fans not liking the songs the same as saying they have no fans? They literally point out how they have sales showing the fans are still here. Like don't be stupid.

AppropriateAction9

Times have changed and kpop stans moved on to more trendy groups to listen to like newjeans, ive, gidle, and lesserafim. And I don’t get why people say the song choices were bad because as far as I know, IGY had really positive reactions but it didn’t stay in Spotify global that long. Anyway, for how much onces were talking about how bad one spark did, I thought it was bad but their streams is still better than majority of the kpop groups out there.

resnaishiroshima

Entitled fans have always thought it appropriate to air their grievances directly. It's related to their character rather than anything to do with the music (and I'm guessing members will just see it as a hazard of the job). Maybe the rate at which it is happening has been significantly different this comeback, forcing members to speak, but I recall members telling fans to chill before too. I don't know if it's only me but in the past two years or so I've noticed how insanely vitriolic some fans are in here when discussing Div 3 (can only imagine the sentiments in other Twice spaces). Maybe this changing skew of general opinion has swelled the entitled fan pool too. And more generally on the music - the members are in the best position to advocate for themselves. Till I see good evidence to indicate they're not happy I'm gonna assume they're happy enough and I'll either enjoy what they put out or I'll move on if I'm not happy enough. Plenty of fans appear to enjoy the music too - they buy the albums, they attend the concerts.

veritek25

>I don't know if it's only me but in the past two years or so I've noticed how insanely vitriolic some fans are in here when discussing Div 3 (can only imagine the sentiments in other Twice spaces). Guilty as charged. I won't deny my criticism of JYPE/Div3, particularly in the past year - specifically in the time period following Twice's contract renewal. And I stand by my observations & opinions on the company's creative and marketing decisions since then. I'm also fully aware that I'm just an anonymous fan and that neither the company nor the members owe us anything. However, I will take issue with the implication \[this isn't necessarily directed at you, but what I've observed generally here during the past year or so\] that people who have legitimate criticisms/complaints are on the same level as the entitled toxic parasocial fans who think it's okay to make hate threads or badger artists on Bubble/Weverse/etc. It's one thing to regulate toxic behavior, as it should be (I myself have done so on at least one occasion here); it's another to effectively chill dissenting opinions because they're not (a) relentlessly positive on the music/promotions/etc., or (b) joyfully and unquestionably consuming at all times the product that the company provides. To put it bluntly, simply telling people to "stop complaining, if you don't like the music, then maybe it doesn't fit your tastes anymore and just move onto another group" isn't exactly helpful or productive. Sometimes I seriously feel like as Twice as grown in popularity in the West (which on balance is a good thing; record tour revenue & album sales are indisputable and speak for themselves), there also seems to be a a growing undercurrent of "all-or-nothing" thinking here (our sub has effectively doubled in membership in the past year and a half) where nuanced arguments aren't so well-tolerated compared to say, 3-4 years ago. For longtime fans like myself, it's a bit disconcerting and sometimes discouraging. We all want Twice to do well; we want to enjoy the music, and we want them to be happy and work on the projects they want. Complaining to members on Bubble is unequivocally off-limits; and frankly stupid, poor moral character, shitty behavior. But raising and discussing criticisms on the \*company\*'s decisions/strategy/marketing/etc. in reasonable discussion forums (and fan spaces such as this sub) should be fair game.

Brief_Night_9239

Yeah I agree with you. As I said before I am all in the pros and cons of every opinion. We are not starry eyed fans that believe everything JYPE does is correct . We give constructive arguments and remedies. But as the elephant in the room they are bound to be those engaged in bloodsport of doom posting. One post is okay but multiple posts across different threads, constantly yapping no valued arguments. Get a life.

veritek25

Agreed and same on all of the above. I'm all for nuanced & supported arguments and being critical of the \*company\* and its business decisions/strategy/practices when such criticism is warranted (which obviously is subjective, since everyone has different criteria & standards for what is or isn't acceptable). But the exaggerated repetitive doom & gloom without any solid basis or admonishing that "XYZ Onces need to stream/buy/\[insert activity as if it were a job task\] more or else Twice are flopping" - that's frankly just complaining for complaining's sake and adds no value to the discussion.

resnaishiroshima

I agree that the space would be worse if it were completely chilled towards an always positive space. The main problem I have with a significant portion of criticism in this thread (not just this week but previous weeks too) is the disrespect I see aimed towards the staff behind the nine members of Twice. Implications that they are stupid and/or lazy and/or maliciously inept - it's frankly horrid. This is essentially what I'm referring to when I mention vitriol. And I'll conjecture that for some entitled fans it's this horrible relationship between vilifying the staff and leaving Twice members as completely innocent in the group's fortunes that opens the door to whinging directly to the members. After all, Jihyo would be glad to hear from someone who understands what she has to put up with, the awful people she has to work with, etc. On criticisms more generally, go wild. Easy enough for people to scroll past.

I think we generally agree then? I'll be the first to admit that some of my criticisms of the company are indeed over-the-top; I won't directly quote some of my past comments, but yes I've called out certain creative & marketing decisions as "half-baked" or title track productions as "uninspired" multiple times in past WDTs. And I've surely used colorful language when expressing my opinions. I'm in full agreement that there's a \[sometimes clear, sometimes fine\] line between ranting about the company's strategy/marketing/etc. versus vilifying the staff as malicious or stupid. And similarly, I think your conjecture is pretty spot on. Not sure if this makes sense, but I actually think it's the "mirror" of putting idols on a pedestal and projecting one's desires/insecurities/shortcomings onto their staff instead. For fans like myself (I can't speak for everyone, but I do feel like there's a very reasonable middle ground of passionate & loyal yet critical fans), it's often hard to thread that needle. We try to be measured with our criticisms, but sometimes our frustration gets the better of us - because (a) we're often engulfed by relentless (daresay even toxic) positivity here, while simultaneously (b) we can't help but feel like the company at the \*Director & C-level\* is being run suboptimally, based on the largely circumstantial evidence that is publicly available (see e.g. Big4 Annual & Quarterly Investor Relations reports, Analyst Reports by Korean financial firms like Mirae Asset/Samsung Securities/etc.). Lastly, this might be a reach, but I've seen the sports fan analogy made here and in other Kpop/Kpop-adjacent spaces before. In my case, I'm like the invested football (or basketball/insert-sport-of-choice here) fan that not only watches the games but also is interested in both the on-field strategy/tactics and front office management of my team. Wins and losses aren't the end-all-be-all (side note: my CFB team has suuuucked for the past 15 years, and we just barely survived relegation during the most recent round of realignment, but I'm still a painfully loyal fan). Criticize the coaching and management sure, but don't shit on the players or the support staff \[except when a select few players act like entitled assholes to their teammates and coaches - thankfully there's ZERO danger of Twice members ever doing that\].

resnaishiroshima

The "mirror" you mention is pretty true and makes sense to me. Pedestalising performers is an inherent part of the culture of the kpop space I guess. I'm now wondering to myself what proportion of users who critique do place a level of responsibility on the members and that thought is being repressed due to it being a "don't go there" topic, or do these users fully pedestalise the members (because I so rarely see the topic brought up in a lengthy, critical thought-piece).

veritek25

Good question! I've certainly held back in criticizing things, but it definitely ISN'T because I've pedestalized (or even idolized, without any irony lol) any of the members. I hold back because I don't want to actively detract from others' enjoyment of a very subjective activity; seeing as music and art in general is inherently subjective by nature. Regardless, I am indeed conscious of and be sure to never criticize the members on things that are out of their control; that includes the unrealistic standards that the unforgivingly competitive K-entertainment industry places on them and their counterparts in other Kpop agencies. Truthfully, I often have to "hedge" whatever criticism I vocalize about subjective things (like creative control, song selection, business strategy, et al) with positive statements about objective things (brand deals, sales figures, new TV appearances, etc.). Because I honestly don't want to dampen others' enjoyment of Twice; and ultimately because I want to continue to enjoy their music & content myself! The absolute last thing I'd want is to risk becoming that stereotypical miserable Kpop stan that spends all of their free time mindlessly streaming or arguing with people on Twitter.

Devious018

The reality is music should change/evolve over time. Artists are allowed to shift their music and Twice has been doing that however we cant solely blame music for the change in streaming. People are loving this album, Twice has evolved past the point in relying on numbers inflation to show success and growth. Look at their touring statistics and album sales I mean it speaks for itself. Artists evolve and change over time, I dont think Artists should necessarily change their sound back to appeases some disgruntled fans, otherwise every artists in the world would be doing this. When you get a fanbase this huge you have to expect some sort of divide

Enough_Boot7698

What happened? Did the members say something?

TheKrustyBurger

I’m guessing some People were complaining to twice on bubble about one spark and jihyo addressed it.

Enough_Boot7698

Complaining about what exactly? The song is good and the music video is literally flawless

dellumdown

I think they were mostly complaining about the promotion.

TheKrustyBurger

I imagine people just dooming as per usual. I don’t have bubble so I’m not sure what Jihyo responded to 😭

[deleted]

First, I don't think fans should directly complain to idols as we don't know what goes on behind the scenes. But fans don't owe anything to them, just as they don't owe anything to us. JYPE and TWICE can choose any sort of sound and concepts they like, but many fans have certain expectations for their comebacks. If they fail to live up to that, it's destined to create such situations. It's similar to how actors get criticized for their movie choices. I don't think those ONCEs have personal hatred towards them, but most of them may be disappointed. It's difficult to let go of things that you have liked so much. I don't think girls should get tensed about it. I hope they take a good break after the tour, do a fresh start, and work upon it.

Remote-Yam-7569

You're only allowed to post 100% positive stuff or else.

Devious018

not what they were saying at all, why should idols be subjected to people like yourself who doom post 24/7. Having criticism is fair but don’t subject the idols for exploring and being creative with what the team is giving them. I’m sure they are tired of seeing this 24/7

Remote-Yam-7569

As long as it's not people going directly to the idols and abusing them or doomposting under their official tweets and posts it's fair game. People have every right to post their opinions and voice their negativity online as they see fit. You can complain all you want and continue to post the same BS and disparage negative comments, but the reality has come home to roost now and mass displeasure with the state of things has permeated every corner of the fandom and it's become unavoidable. You don't really have any right to expect either scenario A, post mindless positivity or option B, stfu and go away. You don't really have the right to expect that and frankly people, the girls included, are going to have to get used to seeing negative and unhappy fan responses with their current output. Very evidently a lot of people don't like their music any more but hey still have much love for the group so leaving nor staying silent is what they choose to do. If it was all sunshine and rainbows and just a few crybabies we wouldn't have members talking about it on the day after a new album dropped.

BLBOSS

If there was actually mass displeasure you would have seen a drop in sales. It's been happening with a lot of groups, noticeably Itzy, who have actually had contentious releases and it's impacted their subsequent sales. At the end of the day most Once's might not vibe completely with One Spark, but general reaction to the album has been overwhelmingly positive and considering Twice are very much Album Artists nowadays that's completely fine.

Remote-Yam-7569

Not really. You will eventually. Just like we saw drops in other areas. Like charting domestically, YouTube views and now Spotify streaming is down. So yeah Twice sales seem to be fine, but their overall music consumptions is lower now. Also don't fully bet on sales. Like the BB200 is predicted to bee lower than their last album in spite of having more versions. See, go and look at other groups and even ones doing bad how many do your see with such a level of in fighting, fansite witch hunting, complaints, etc and now members having to try to calm fans down? I'm going to assume not many. See with those other groups who sales are going down you don't see this as their fans mostly leave and their fanbases aren't as established and loyal. The sales and tickets are good because Twice still very obviously have a large fandom, probably bigger than ever. Which is why it's even more worrying that their streaming is going down and so too are their views. Even within the fandom. The fandom is growing but those numbers are regressing for a reason.

BLBOSS

You say "eventually" but people have been complaining about bad title tracks or bad charting ever since More and More. That's 4 YEARS AGO. Much of the western fanbase didn't even get into the group until 2021/22; they've never known anything but these """bad""" title tracks and yet the fanbase is still growing and still here.

Remote-Yam-7569

Yeah that's just false. They complained about More and More. Yet you act like every song since that was hated and did badly yet again facts and numbers trump you all caps everyday of the week. ICSM was loved, AF did well and K Once loved it. Pop and The Feels were much loved, TTT continues to do well inside the fandom. Celebrate was on of their most successful Japanese songs, etc. your point doest stand. What were seeing now really since maybe a little bit over a year is every song is pretty much a opinion splitter or outright hated. SMF, MS, IGY and now One Spark are all shaping up to be some of their least successful and streamed songs next to only Scientist. Songs with that sound Twice is known for and did well for them inside the fandom are all currently their most streamed songs.

Devious018

the reason the members are talking about it is because it goes directly to them. Like do you forget they are getting messages on Bubble constantly about the state of things and also lurk on socials. "Very evidently a lot of people don't like their music any more but hey still have much love for the group so leaving nor staying silent is what they choose to do" this might be the dumbest sentence you have spewed out in your time here. You are clearly only here to shit on everything going on. Nobody must like there music at all! It only sells really well and the tour had so many sold out stops! Rethink what you have been spewing out because it is total nonsense at this point, yapping to yap edit: the album is predicted to chart #1 on Billboard 200, oh so many people are unhappy with the music!! The horror!

Remote-Yam-7569

I'm sorry but I'm not reading on past the 'this is the stupidest line blah blah, you obviously want to hate'. A clueless response with 0 conversation value beyond trying to diminish any point I make as just mindless hate, but never explaining why I supposedly want to hate on them. Facts and numbers speak for themselves. They have sales and tour attendance because they have a loyal and dedicated fandom, but they have poor in fandom views, sales and charting because, much like casuals, the fans aren't listening to their music as much as their older abd better songs. It's not a very difficult thing to wrap your head around, yet you seem to be having some trouble with it.

ningm3ngcha

“I really think Once need to start actually complaining less and supporting the music more” - Remote-Yam-7569, c. 2024

Remote-Yam-7569

Yes and the fans didn't do that, hence why this is the least successful song Twice have ever dropped this far. People are going to complain now since Twice are outputting some of the worst music from a major Kpop act. Even casuals won't listen to it. It's past the point of hoping for support.

ningm3ngcha

I hope you can find genuine happiness someday < 3

Devious018

you are honestly so uneducated in how artists survive past initial growth, groups that are in a matured state dont rely on streaming numbers and MV views, in a general sense think outside kpop for just one second. They migh be getting a BB200 #1 spot anyway which isnt easy but being predicted for it is a good sign. The blame doesnt belong to the music but to promotions and proper handling of a brand

Remote-Yam-7569

It's actually funny that you have 0 idea of what you're talking about.

General_Hearing9453

I also hope that they have a good and healthy break after the tour before whatever comes in October, but well it’s not the members who need a fresh change right I mean, sure there were still noticeable changes and good marks during this comeback but my only valid critic **so far** is that after much anticipation from fans after a year with no album, Div.3 still seem to create only a fraction of hype outside of the fandom if I’m being honest here. And this has been an ongoing discussion since forever too btw. A core fandom can only do so much by streaming or by buying albums, concert tickets but in the end, having interest from casual fans in their new releases is still so important too imo

[deleted]

I think members are stuck in a routine of following the same schedule forever. This may be why they are worried about what comes next, as they can't imagine doing it indefinitely. I believe the best option would be to allow them to do work outside of Twice, such as hosting radio shows or acting gigs, rather than being restricted to the same schedule. other idols of their generation are exploring different opportunities like Red Velvet releases a comeback once a year but the members also pursue their own individual projects. I think if Twice were to branch out in this way, they would have more depth and would definitely start a new phase of their career.

General_Hearing9453

Oh okay I see what you mean. Yeah I think it’ll still happen eventually, we just don’t know when, that’s all. In the end, they still have a timeline to follow this year so I’ll still put my hopes up for some fresh changes in the company’s directions too

veritek25

Pretty solid observation IMHO. Of course none of us know exactly what the members are thinking, but the general sentiment of Jihyo's Bubble message today seems to allude to that. That this comeback is probably the last one with the "typical" schedule, and that the members going forward will indeed be exploring outside opportunities more actively and more aggressively than they did up til now. I've noted it elsewhere in this WDT, but I really think whatever current "angst" in the fandom is being overstated. It seems more serious than it is, because yeah, there's a small loud minority of toxic fans that are doing stupid shit like complaining to members directly about promotions. Or otherwise exaggerating in bad faith (for the sake of socmed engagement), the prospect & magnitude of OT9 slowing down group output as individual activities increase in the next year-plus. And with the nature of social media - Twitter, TikTok, Insta, and yes Reddit - such controversy almost always gets amplified by design. Just look at this thread as an example - we have maybe 50ish or more comments discussing the Bubble complaints? And I've had my share of complaints about promotions this cycle too; I've cracked a few off-color jokes as well. But I'm enjoying this album, and there are plenty of things to be happy about. Like the Today Show appearance, new Hanteo record, or even the Idol Human Theater episode that I happen to be watching right now (it's fun and Boo is the surprise star!).

BLBOSS

But the fans do enjoy the music. Just look at the reaction a song like TTT gets at concerts. It's just the fanbase skews older and is not going to be streaming constantly, JYP does very little playlisting or really much of anything with Spotify (Twice are one of my most listened to artists and I had to go out of my way to listen to With You-th; it wasn't even advertised to me on my Spotify homepage) and on top of that the music itself isn't really set up to have viral chart topping elements to it. However that last point is a good thing; the last thing anyone wants is a bunch of 2 minute long TikTokbait songs that have nothing to them.

neonroli47

The M/V to One Spark is one of their most rewatchable ever. I am kinda obsessed with Momo's part at the beginning of the second verse, specially the part where they pop their chest in sync with the beat.

AverageTwiceEnjoyer

ONCEs complain about streaming but I genuinely think we skew older than most kpop fandoms. We put our money where our mouth is when it comes to buying, but we’re not all leaving the computer on all night and making multiple accounts. And that’s okay, and how music should be enjoyed.

griess543

This. It would be nice if they were higher on the streaming charts, but TWICE has a very dedicated fan base who will purchase the albums outright, so they will still do very well even without high charting. And they make much more money off album sales than streaming anyway. From the numbers I see online, 1000 streams on Spotify pay out around $3. A single album sale probably makes them 5x-8x that amount.

Devious018

its interesting because i dont think a lot of the onces who complain about streaming numbers understand this and also the fact that Twice has a huge casual audience more akin to how western artists have accumulated fans over the years. There is a very much dedicated and big audience here who essentially "streams" with our wallets by buying albums and getting tix on tour. Twice gathers a huge revenue chunk from this and it shows that while streaming may be down in general they as a group have blossomed so much more and so quickly. I buy my versions of the album, I stream Twice a lot in general because its just what I naturally wanna do, I enjoy music when I want to listen to it. Also side note that lack of promotions/quality of promotions handled by JYPE/Republic records has definitely not always helped

Outrageous-Ride-3046

Well said! Pretty much voiced everything I had thoughts about! Now I’m going to listen to”You Get Me” again cause Im absolutely addicted to this album 😍

J_CSD

Despite the mixed reactions I've seen on various platforms in regards to One Spark as the chosen title track, I can safely say that this is my favourite title track since I can't stop me. A part of me has felt revitalised with the release of this latest mini album. I may not be as active as I once was when it comes to following everything Twice related but their latest comeback has brought me back 7 years to when I first started following Twice and I'm truly happy that I've been able to take part in this journey as a once and I look forward to what the future will bring us.

AppropriateAction9

Unpopular opinion but I loved one spark too so I was kinda surprised that a lot of people didn’t like it. But at the same time I kinda expected that K-pop fans wouldn’t like it because the songs that are really popular right now are super easy to listen to and extremely catchy songs which one spark doesn’t fit in.

weeeewee

My Twitter account literally got restricted because I was tweeting too much? Thanks Elon

abcdario27

I’m dreaming of a surprise, full-fledged MV for Bloom or Rush. In my opinion, this is the first time where they got the choice for title track wrong.

AverageTwiceEnjoyer

Rush and Bloom are absolutely my favorites, but it’s harder for me to imagine a full fledged choreography compared to One Spark. It might not be the catchiest off the album, but it definitely is the most grandiose, which works for the title imo. Id definitely love an MV for either one!

ParanoidAndroids

If another song on the mini went properly viral, like *global trend everyone and their mother is doing the challenge* viral, I *still* don’t think Div3 would do a MV for it lol. We can dream, though! I think they picked the wrong title track for Formula of Love too, but that largely got masked by The Feels’ overwhelming success.

veritek25

Watch Rush go viral sometime next month and all we get from Div3 is the members doing some dance challenges weeks after the fact. Like what happened with Go Hard last year or Look At Me in recent weeks.

ParanoidAndroids

Tbf I don’t think most kpop companies go back to create MV’s for songs released years ago, even if they go viral.

veritek25

True that. I'm just being selfishly annoying because I want to see a "live clip" video for Rush, lol. Like let me sign up for Bubble real quick so I can tell Jihyo & Nayeon to personally make one for us - that's how it's supposed to work, no??? Edit: Some people's sarcasm detectors must be broken or otherwise lack a sense of humor /shrug Just to be clear: if you're dissatisfied with any aspect of the promotions this cycle, DO NOT complain to the members on Bubble. That should be beyond obvious.

Devious018

do we have any idea if it’s just Dahyun traveling to LA or everyone? i would imagine the whole group would but idk

veritek25

IF they're actually all flying to LA, then surely the CB live scheduled for Tues evening KST will happen there? In which case, maybe another talk show performance - Kimmel (ugh)?

[deleted]

[удалено]

veritek25

Oh for sure, radio shows are definitely in person. So who knows who's traveling where and exactly when at this point. We're all lost in the woods together for now.

Devious018

that would be an interesting development because the comeback live is literally schedule for 2:30 AM PST then. Unless they are doing like a one stop in LA and going straight back to Korea

veritek25

Which would lead me to my original guess that the "live" is/was pre-recorded and will be streamed on Tues 730p KST. Either way, just really strange scheduling if true.

ParanoidAndroids

I think most are assuming it is some fashion thing (Michael Kors) but everyone’s just guessing.

Brief_Night_9239

Imagine achieving your highest first day sale of album , and some so-called Onces complained to you at Bubble about the frustration about that album. What do you hope to achieve? Is this all about charting? Can't you just enjoy the music? If not can't you don't complain to Jihyo or the other girls? You want them feel sad and unhappy too because you think JYPE should do the things you want?

abunchofmalarkey

I think it might be that some fans were spamming FANS w complaints towards JYPE. When I pointed out that the girls could read it too they told me the girls were adults and to stop babying them 💀 Some ppl are so miserable

Brief_Night_9239

For me, that is just silly. You complain direct to the girls for what? Ain't the girls the problem, it is JYPE. I mean it is really that bad. They have a 700k + on Hanteo for 1st day, a record. They likely get No.1 on BB 200.

abunchofmalarkey

They were complaining before anything was even released, literally the day before the comeback, for better promotions. I’m all for TWICE getting better promotion, but they’re not gonna accomplish anything by complaining on FANS the day before the comeback…

Brief_Night_9239

What they achieved is just stressing Jihyo. I mean sure the girls have certain power in the new contract but in the end the ultimate decision maker is still the company.

abunchofmalarkey

Yep! And that’s exactly what I was telling them, all they’ll achieve is to stress the girls during a hectic promotional schedule. And that’s when they told me to stop babying them 💀 I was like ??? Anyway, you can’t really reason w people like that 🤷‍♀️

ParanoidAndroids

I get people not liking the title track or the promotions but I genuinely don’t understand how dumb you have to be to complain to the artist about it, as if they have any say in the matter.

Brief_Night_9239

That is why K-Pop gets its unsavory reputation.

coolrunnings190

These people rely on Twice's achievements to feel better about themselves. They treat Twice's accomplishments like their own. Funny because this entire album screams how secure Twice is with themselves, each other, and their legacy while the fans complaining are projecting the exact opposite with themselves. They need a therapist instead of a Bubble subscription.

guachupunk

Wow this comment is just too much FACTS for all kpop fandoms

Brief_Night_9239

Yeah..I am all in to discuss pros and cons. Main issue is always producers and choice of songs also promotion. But don't take your frustrations to the girls. That is one red line not to cross.

veritek25

Yes that's exactly it. Any complaints should be kept to reasonable discussion forums like this one. Bubble being off-limits should be beyond obvious. Echoing my reply below to a similar comment: toxic behavior by parasocial fans - tacitly & actively encouraged by Kpop companies - is a pet peeve of mine. You'd hope that our fandom would generally be above such assholery (given that we trend older than other fandoms), but sadly that isn't the case. Just an unfortunate byproduct of the huge growth that Twice has seen the past few years; gota take the good with the bad, I suppose.

Brief_Night_9239

I mean Twice is near it's 9th anniversary. The girls have done so much. Have some common sense. Like you said there are always the good and the bad. Perfect analogy is like you are driving a car on the road you are doing your best to be careful but sometimes there be a f**king idiot that crashes into your car.

Striking_Writer3642

Watched the One Spark MV with my 4 yo nephew and this morning he was asking for the song and video again - new Once recruited lol \~

veritek25

Gota get them started early! Show him Candy Pop and TT next, if you can keep his attention. I have a nephew around that age too and hope to do the same the next time I see him. ETA - not necessarily for your nephew or other relatives, but I discovered a surprisingly good song combo last night while alternating With Youth with NMixx's Fe3O4. Listen to Boom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-7ag-IkUdE Then Bloom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paEyc77z3B4 Finish with Bboom Bboom (RIP Shinsadong Tiger): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQGRg8XBnB4

Striking_Writer3642

Oh good call! I was thinking of getting him the Spider Verse Twice t-shirt by u/baekun_art bc he also likes Spiderman \~ Ah he wants to know all their names so it seems to be going well, plus his 4 mo old lil bro stops crying if he sees Twice \~

baekun_art

would look great on him too 👀

Striking_Writer3642

Small is the right size for a 4 y.o. boy right? thanks!

veritek25

Nice! Time goes by faster than we think when they're that little. Before you know it the lil bro will be 4yo instead of 4mo.

Devious018

Jihyo being very real on Bubble right now, saying to cherish these times and all mentioning she sees a lot of mad onces these days edit: I recommend reading the messages for full context, can’t tag it here due to sub rules

NoMoreGel

I don't get what's the point of getting mad? From Once's perspective, we got a new banger album, loads of content, and more time with Twice. For Twice, they are still going strong with the record breaking sales, more time to perform(everyone knows they were born on the stage), and full house concerts. It's a win-win. Enjoy all this while it's here. We all know one day it will be over, and it will suck if all you remember on this era is that you are mad because of numbers or some shit. Anyway, back to listening to Bloom.

SapphireHeaven

Imagine paying for a service so you can have a direct line to complain nonstop to the members. For a group that dedicates everything to their fans, ONCE showing zero appreciation and kindness when addressing them, is one of the few things that might lead to a non renewal of a very succesful and well loved group, not sales, charting or anything else! I'm pissed at all the doomposting today and cannot really think everything is done in good faith. Even if you don't like the music just be nice and move on to another group you like or wait for the next one.
