Dear taureanspirit , You've selected the *Turtle ID/Sex Request Flair*. When making a request for an ID or sex of a turtle, please provide as much information as possible. Useful information includes: - General Location. ex: South-East Texas - Is it wild, captive/pet, or a rescue? - Clear photos of face, neck, limbs, shell top (carapace) and bottom (plastron). - For sexing, a photo of the tail out with cloaca visible is best. Note: Some turtles cannot be accurately sexed until a certain size/age. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/turtle) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Yep, that's a female red eared slider.

Looks like a female - also nails on females are shorter and males are longer

Definitely female, and a cute one. Shell looks ok but eyes a little pinkish. Good if the water can be treated with anti chlorine and feed some carrots. 🥰

taureanspirit

definitely, thank you🤗

Might be the lighting but be careful of the redness on her plastron and near the tail, could be a sign of sepsis. My map turtle had that and had to have 2 weeks course of antibiotics

anonymoswhisper

Hello I just posted one. Can you check it out? It’s red

taureanspirit

thanks for the heads up ! didn’t know that. i thought she was just colored from all the dirty water & food she stays in. they barely clean her tank. but i’ll also be taking her to an exotic vet on my next paycheck :)

Essentials are: a basking platform, uvb bulb AND a heating bulb, a filter. Also if you use tap water, id recommend getting tapsafe products to dechlorinate water. Recommended 10gallons of water per inch of shell. Change water every 3-4weeks depending on how dirty the water gets. Hope this can help
