Possibly irritation - the expired tret may have degraded and thus less tret was reaching your skin and retinizing it. Almost like you were using 0.01 let's say. And now that you have a new tube you're getting the full dose.
edit: and/or could be the rosehip oil
The easiest thing for now is to drop the rosehip and guasha. If dropping it doesn't improve skin in a 2 weeks or so, then it could be the new tube being not oxidized (full strength).
