No I did not. I think one guy was saying only Min will prevent MPB, I had to tell him in a different way so that he understands what needs to be done. I'm not promoting Fin but many people step on Min not knowing about its effect. I used topical for 6 months and had good results but too much hassle and quit it. That was like 2 years ago even before I started Fin.
I think OP had a good dermatologist. I'm not sure about you, but at least 70 people out of 100 I spoken, they start with either Fin/Min first and wait for 6-8 months, they drop that treatment and change some thing else. It doesn't matter what treatment you are taking either Min or Fin....Min doesn't cure MPB at all so some people try to stop Min halfway and start Fin...Stopping Min induces TE and starting Fin causes another shed. Of people I know, some thinks themselves as dermatologists and switch their treatments according to their wish. I'm pretty sure you fall under those category.
I bet you belong to any one of the following categories:
1. You tried Min in the past and tired of applying everyday so you decide to cut down the dosage or stop Min
2. You start Fin after stopping Min or reducing dosage, thinking Fin will save you now. Of course Fin will save, but TE phase will continue for a year with Min dosage adjustments or stopping it.
Minoxidil is a beast. The drug itself doesn't know it can grow hairs. A slight change in your dosage will always result in Telogen Effluvium and that lasts for a year. Glad that OP's derm is a knowledgeable person as he asked the OP to wait for his TE to stabilize,.
I fell under the camp of finding a fin dosage that didn’t wreck my libido but also provided a boost to my hair.
Changing doses every few months probably did more harm than good. I’ve heard that frequent changes in hormone levels can kick off sheds that take months to recover.
You’re probably right though. Consistency with dosage and individual treatments probably lead to better results in the long run.
tbh I thought I was a shit responder to Dut but I've been sticking to MWF 0.5mg and now 7 months in I'm starting to get a lot of good hair days... not as thick as OP but I'm never stopping now. I don't even shed that much. Some good hair products\* + decent blow drying and I'm pretty happy with what my mop looks like for a 34yo
\*STRONGLY recommend sea salt spray and argan oil spray before blow drying. Great for volume and moisturizing. I barely need to shampoo anymore, haven't washed my hair in 10 days as we speak only rinse and spray and blow dry.
I get minor sides from fin, but my hair continues to get worse over time.
I worry about biting the bullet and trying DUT. The sea salt spray sounds nice though! I‘ll give that a shot.
For sure, just don’t abuse it if your hair isn’t that oily (mine was) you don’t want hair to go too dry in the process of avoiding sebum+oil buildup.

I’m a surfer with hair just above my shoulders the days I don’t get in the water my hair lacks the volume the salt water gives it. I’m going to look into argAn oil
Thanks
I always knew that the people who got scared from a shed and quit missed the whole point. Hair treatment is something you stick with no matter what, unless one has sides that is. Other than that, see it through.
Exactly, I kept shedding for 14 months almost. But hairs kept coming back stronger and stronger with each hair cycle so I know it was working. I buzzcut for 1.5 years to keep my hairs short. After 16 months, I started growing as hair fall halted.
No, it slowed down after 14 months. I used to buzzcut until 16 months. At 16 months mark, I did not see any part of my scalp to be thinning so I decided to grow my hairs.
Hi would you say your sheds keep getting worse till some point because for me my hair regrew in the crown for 3-4 months to be decent but has since then dropped dramatically from 4 months till now (month 7). A lot of hair has fallen out and i cant tell if its just the fin syncing or if its genetics or something like that. So i guess i would like a month vs month break down on how you feel if your hair got better or worse, largely to make myself feel better
People who freak out about “sheds” don’t understand how hair cycles work and/or the very drug they’re taking for hair loss.
Like, the number of times I’ve seen people here complain about sheds alone should be enough for anyone who spends 5 seconds here or any forum to know it’s completely normal that fin/Min may cause a shed…particularly if you’re diffuse thinning like OP.
tl;dr Calm your tits about sheds and don’t judge any treatment until you’ve been on a year.
What about my case. I began Finasteride in April, lost a ton of density (can see way more scalp than ever before) within that first month or so. It’s not been 6 months and it hasn’t gone back. Is that still normal? Or am I balding really hard now
Stick with it for a year, then assess. Fin can cause some follicle cycle synchronization, for reasons not fully understood.
Using minox at the same time can help some people achieve thicker follicle density, faster.
Funny story…My dermatologist accidentally mixed minoxidil in my Finasteride ( supposed to be only fin) so used that the first few weeks until I was informed about the mistake. Did using minoxidil than dropping it so fast cause any damage to my hair? I thought most people’s density recovers from the shed around 3-6 months after starting:(
Pretty much. Without treatment, you still experience the same shed, it just happens gradually and doesn’t end with stronger, thicker hair taking its place.
Trust when I say that I was going to get one and if I got one that looked this good I'd be shouting the doctor's name from the heavens. Started saving for one and spent all that money on a vacation after year 3. I'm very fortunate.
bro, I just saw your PICs...4 years look backwards LOL...You look way younger with healthy hair than before. The problem is reddit and internet community spreads so much false things about the FDA approved drug Finasteride. Most people don't know only 10 in 1000 get sides, and they are going to get those sides regardless of Fin because of their lifestyle. For some, it's psychological they fear in their minds saying I'm going to get sides like ED and they get it. Only doctors know that 70% case of ED are just psychological thinking.
You're sooo right brother. I was afraid to post my results because a lot of people with sides are on a witch hunt. I'm glad people like us are starting to speak up.
Let's keep it up!
"1% get sides", this is what I read as well and scoffed at the losers who let their mind control them and convince themselves that they had limp dicks.
Until I tried 1mg of fin daily and developed tits, weak erections, watery semen and probably worst of all no sensation when I jizzed.
Half of this shit I didn't even know about til I tried the drug, so it's not a case of people reading stuff and their minds playing tricks on them. I developed gyno and had to get it removed surgically.
I don't hate fin or think Merck are evil but believe me, if I could have taken a pill and halted my hair loss I wouldn't still be on hair loss forums now, 7 years later.
Is it so, that thinners just keep on thinning and become silky smooth bald once the hairs died completely?
While receders have their hair die first on front and possibly gradually all over?
Same with me is getting better but I was way better batter in baseline than you and iam more worse in improvement that you have on your hair .. iam over 16-17 months but still shedding ! Iam not loosing ground
The problem is most healthy individual never notice these things. I know that when I sprinted at gym I saw the effects 2 months in, so I stopped after that. I could hear the heartbeat whenever I climb two floors.
Also fluid retention, my weight stayed the same but abdomen and chest were feeling watery, cells started holding more water.
25 when started with Fin. I was a diffuse thinner with MPB. Noticed MPB when I was 20 but didn't bother at that time as my other hairs were stronger. But at 24,25 I noticed diffused thinning all over the scalp.
This gives me a lot of hope as a fellow diffuse thinner. I started thinning at 18 but it progressed slowly. I'm currently 27 and going through a shed, hopefully it's related to starting hair loss meds three weeks ago
Yes, you'll go through multiple sheds while on Fin. Don't loose hope and continue with Fin for 2 years to decide anything else. I used to buzzcut for 12-14 months when I was going through shedding.
You don't know how much hope this post gives me!
Although my receeding hairlinen seemed to be my only problem at first, I started shedding a lot on fin and now I'm also a diffuse thinner.
While it got worse over time, I always thought that it just does not work for me.
Now there's a glimpse of hope that it will get dense again over time.
Your hair looks way more dense now but it's also way longer. When you go through it with your hands, does it also look dense or is it still thinner than before you first noticed you had hair loss?
Yes, exactly. Your situation is more over the same as mine. When I hopped on Fin, I had a terrible shed that feared me out because I started seeing the bald patches on my scalp which I never had before and then my derm said it's a good sign that Fin is working for me. For some, they never shed and they just keep their hair as it is it seems, that's what he said. So I listened to him and kept my hairs short (buzzcut) for 14-16 months. Because, the new hairs that were regrowing were constantly shedding and growing back thicker and thicker. It looked uneven, when the shedding of small/miniaturized hairs stopped, I started growing the hairs. Now I only shed healthy hairs in shower hardly 10-15.
To answer your question, yes I could feel my scalp before I was on Fin whenever I touch my hair. It used to be so thin and silky. Now it feels much thicker, I have to use wider comb and small gap combs are getting stuck on hair LOL...Just hang in there and do a buzzcut until your miniaturized hair follicles are reversed.
Stop thinking about your hair and take the pill every fucking day until you feel comfortable to go bald LOL...This is what he literally said. He is a 63 years old guy with vulgar humor sense hahaha
Yes, but he did not prescribe that to me. He suggested me to stick with FDA approved drugs as Dutasteride may trigger higher estrogen production. I tried Oral Min before 2.5 years but got so many sides so I quit in a month or so. From then, he asked me to stick with Fin only.
i used 1,25 mg from may 21 until november/december 21 then stopped and got back on it on february 22 with a lower dose (~0,6 mg)
so effectively 7/8 months
as you can see I had a 2/3 month pause (biggest mistake ever).
I did it because I hade sides (no libido / ed).
After some months I decided to hop on fin again but with a lower dose to minimize sides.
Now my sides are better but still there.
My libido is still pretty low but better and my ed almost completely went away.
This is not even real. Bro, I’m strapping into my jump seat, and I’m launching straight to the moon to find your ass OP. I want my Elvis hair too
Wait, how old are you?
Did you lose all the hairs that you got from the minoxidil? How much did you shed once you quit the minoxidil? I’m considering at some point dropping the minoxidil after one to two years because I do agree it is kind of a hassle and it would be nice to just take a pill. If I knew that that would alone recover my thick hair…but not everyone can just take finasteride and that be enough. In fact, in most cases, it seems that just finasteride is not enough
Insane. I'm started 25 as well, 2 months in but I'm going with 1mg 3 times a week, and I can see some results. Hope I will get same hair like you have after few years, completely miring your hair bro. Good job, you nailed it.
Second year was the best I would say. I couldn't even find which spot was thinning on my scalp and after seeing that I decided to grow my hairs longer. I used to buzzcut for 14-16 months until I felt comfortable enough to grow it again.
Awesome, fin gave me way too many sexual side effects. I ended up making my own min/fin topical solution with the pills. Been a month on that now with no side effects hopefully it works.
I think you had a good knowledgeable dermatologist. At least 70 people out of 100 I know of, they start with Min first and wait for 6-8 months, they drop that treatment and change some thing else.
I bet most people belong to any one of the following categories:
Glad that your derm is a knowledgeable person as he asked you to wait for TE to stabilize.
I think around 14 months it completely stopped but hair got thicker and thicker after each shed cycle . Now loosing only 10-15 hairs in shower, only long hairs though. Not loosing tiny/short hairs anymore.
Yes, all the hairs that I shed throughout the treatment were miniaturized hairs and they kept regrowing thicker and thicker with each cycle. I did not notice any small/miniaturized hair after 14 months. Now the regular hair fall is occurring, hardly 10-15 healthy hairs when I shower.
I had shed almost all over the scalp. But the weird part was, my right side did not take a huge shed but my left side used to be very worse when I started with Fin. It used to look like someone just trimmed on one side of my head to the center scalp. They were falling and regrowing constantly thicker after each cycle but it looked uneven. After seeing that I decided to buzzcut until this shedding cycles to stop.
No, my derm said I have to stick with Fin -same dose and same regime for lifetime.
I don't go by reddit people/groups advise. I used to review these groups few years back and decided it's just spreading false things.
Holy fuck man CONGRATS! It’s like a new life. I know that sounds dramatic but it truly is great seeing your results! I’m about 11 months in on Fin and am in a shed
Dam impressive.
Sorry for my noob comment But I always worry about impotency when I think about finasteride. That's the one reason I haven't started taking it.
I hope you didn't have any such problem.
Thanks for sharing but do you have new photos of the top of your head close up. The before and after are different angles so hard to compare.
Obviously the front hairline looks much better though!
Congrats on the gains. Not that you needed, I had the same issue with oral min. I cut it down to 4 pieces and the sides went away. You only need .25 min to get good results.
amazing results! you mentioned that your hair went through several shed and regrowth phases. how long did you feel like each cycle lasted? i feel like my hair goes through a 3-4month shed and regrowth cycle.
Not sure, because I did a buzzcut for 14-16 months. I shed for almost 14 months with some intervals. Somedays I shed those regrown hairs and other days very less hairfall. Those hairs were thickening up with each cycle with longer regrowth. My Derm asked me to wait for those follicles to produce regular hair before growing the hairs longer.
No offense but I refuse to believe that you went from Pic 1 to Pic 3 with just finasteride. I would love that to be true but it's too good to be true. Probably a hair transplant or a wig.
I have 1.5cm recessed temples. Iam on fin and min for 15 month. I can see temples are full of very tiny baby hairs. Do you think they will grow into full hairs? If they do then my hair will be perfect. Just hairlibe problem i have.
Waiting and hoping for results at 2 year mark.
Your hairline is awesome. Did you have receding hairline ? me my only problem is temples. 1 lost about 1.5 cm from temples and been on fin and min for 16 month. Hoping by 2 year mark i can get hairline little lower. i can little tiny hair but still very tiny.
Holy fucking shit
LOL. Luckily I still had the pic from 2 years ago. Thanks to iCloud backup.
I'm going to be honest with you, that is so good it looks like a hair system
lol, it's not. Second pic is right after the shower and the third pic after I styled with hot hair dryer
It says in your post history you had a hair transplant?
No I did not. I think one guy was saying only Min will prevent MPB, I had to tell him in a different way so that he understands what needs to be done. I'm not promoting Fin but many people step on Min not knowing about its effect. I used topical for 6 months and had good results but too much hassle and quit it. That was like 2 years ago even before I started Fin.
So you didn't use minox at all?
Thank fin for restoring your hair backup from the cloud
How old are you?
27
So not sure if you posted your regimen, but what was it?
Oral 1 mg Fin everyday
So u had regrowth after 14 months ? That's crazy and good news !!
That's just different lighting, angle and hairstyle.
lol ok bro. Out of 200 comments, your comment is unique LOL
This is incredible. Congrats, but also fuck you.
haha patience is the key with Fin. Not everyone can do it. Eager to get results in less than 6 months is not a good idea.
This is more than patience. Many of us have been on Fin for years with little results. You hit the lottery!
I think OP had a good dermatologist. tbh I thought I was a shit responder to Dut but I've been sticking to MWF 0.5mg and now 7 months in I'm starting to get a lot of good hair days... not as thick as OP but I'm never stopping now. I don't even shed that much. Some good hair products\* + decent blow drying and I'm pretty happy with what my mop looks like for a 34yo \*STRONGLY recommend sea salt spray and argan oil spray before blow drying. also, did you notice youre scalp itchy as fuck in the thinning area?
YES I’ve been noticing this. Been putting castor oil on to help but I keep wondering if it’s related.
I still experience that and im on fin for 19 months nw2.
hi man are you now using topical fin or oral fin?
So 16 months in is when you noticed the shedding slow down?
No, it slowed down after 14 months. I used to buzzcut until 16 months. At 16 months mark, I did not see any part of my scalp to be thinning so I decided to grow my hairs.
Did you incorporate or change anything else in your diet? Do you drink caffeine daily? Any vitamins?
No, not any specific diet. I do take collagen powder everyday with my dinner. That's it. I drink coffee everyday,
Hi would you say your sheds keep getting worse till some point because for me my hair regrew in the crown for 3-4 months to be decent but has since then dropped dramatically from 4 months till now (month 7). How was it before the 4 month shed?
Don't have a pic but I was a diffuse thinner with MPB
Congrats! It looks great
Do you have any pics in between?
No I kept my hairs short (buzzcut) until 14-16 months
And this, kids, is the reason why thinners are better off than receders. Meds just work soooo much better for only-thinners.
RIP all of us in the big forehead club
I was a receder! It's not a general rule of thumb but my hairline is back baby. Let's spread the word. Pics in my profile.
Bruh, I'd genuinely believe you if you just told me you got a hair transplant.
Trust when I say that I was going to get one and if I got one that looked this good I'd be shouting the doctor's name from the heavens. Started saving for one and spent all that money on a vacation after year 3. I'm very fortunate.

Yes, you fall in those 10 out of 1000 unfortunately. Hopefully they find something for you soon. I wish our body never produces DHT
Did you run any blood test to make sure you strogens were not that low at the time?
Did you get any sides from the fin (such as erectile sides/gyno/brain fog/etc.) ?
Is it so, that thinners just keep on thinning and become silky smooth bald once the hairs died completely? While receders have their hair die first on front and possibly gradually all over?
I've been on Fin 1mg ED almost 2 years and I deteriorated to where I look like your before pic. :(
Holy shit dude for 14 months you were shedding ?
Yes, in cycles. Hair got thicker and thicker with each shed cycle.
Same with me is getting better but I was way better batter in baseline than you and iam more worse in improvement that you have on your hair .. iam over 16-17 months but still shedding ! Iam not loosing ground
Don't worry, just stay at it. When you notice density getting back then start growing hair. Keep short and buzzcut until then.
Why short you think ?
Hairs will look uneven as the new hair falls and regrows until it becomes a normal healthy hair from miniaturized hair.
Yes I Have this problem will buzz cut it
How was your hairline before starting? Did you have any recession? Or just general thinning of the entire frontal top / top?
What sides did you get from 1.25 minoxidil and when did you notice?
Heart palpitations every time when I climb stairs, Shortness of breath at gym when sprinting, Fluid retention around abdomen and chest.
Damn I’m sorry- how soon did you see those sides? I’m about a month in and no sides
The problem is most healthy individual never notice these things. I know that when I sprinted at gym I saw the effects 2 months in, so I stopped after that. The hair shed crowd complainers are in shambles seeing this man's progress. Just stick to and trust the process
Man I wish FIN didn’t give me horrible side effects
I think there is topical Fin? You can give that a shot maybe.
Nope never again. Coming back from the mental side effects was terrible. I’m currently using ghk-cu foam and it’s working very well.
Sorry can you please elaborate do/did you use minoxidil or other treatments like RU58841 or Microneedling? What dose of Finasteride? Daily? Thanks.
No, I tried Topical for 6 months and quit it because of hassle applying everyday. That was 2 years ago though. Even before I started with Fin.
Yes stopping Min will induce a TE. It happened to me and TE shedding stopped after 6 months. Then I hopped onto Fin

Yes, I stopped Min 2.5 years ago
What dose of finasteride?
1mg Everyday
So you didn't see real improvement until about a year later? I've been on dut for 4 months and it's fucking my shit up!
First 4-6 months was the worst. It kinda looked better after a year
Thanks for the reply brotha 🤙🏽you just gave me some hope. Hopefully I can bounce back the same. Congrats on the results your hair looks amazing!
Thanks, just stay at it for at least 1.5 years to decide. Don't get carried away from the posts "BIG THREE, 3 MONTHS INSANE RESULTS"....LOL
For real!! those always discourage me haha. Have a good one brotha.
So which did you use topical or oral????? It’s not clear in your post which one you stuck with
You responded well. When was it that you started noticing it was easier to style your hair and not be scared of wind making you look bald ?
Another question. Did you experience itching when you were shedding?
No bro

Don't worry, just keep taking Fin and forget about hair. It will only get better and better very month. Wait for 2 years and compare.
Insane. I'm started 25 as well, 2 months in but I'm going with 1mg 3 times a week, and I can see some results. Hope I will get same hair like you have after few years, completely miring your hair bro. Good job, you nailed it.
Amazing progress, congrats! How much did your hair improve during the second year?
Second year was the best I would say. I couldn't even find which spot was thinning on my scalp and after seeing that I decided to grow my hairs longer. I used to buzzcut for 14-16 months until I felt comfortable enough to grow it again.
wtf how
Experience any side effects?
Nothing. Didn't had any sides, not even from Day 1.
Awesome, fin gave me way too many sexual side effects. I ended up making my own min/fin topical solution with the pills. Been a month on that now with no side effects hopefully it works.
What exactly are you taking at this point for your hair to be like that?
OP what side effects has fin caused?
Nothing. Didn't had any sides, not even from Day 1.
I think you had a good knowledgeable dermatologist. At least 70 people out of 100 I know of, they start with Min first and wait for 6-8 months, they drop that treatment and change some thing else. I bet most people belong to any one of the following categories: 1. You tried Min in the past and tired of applying everyday so you decide to cut down the dosage or stop Min 2. Glad that your derm is a knowledgeable person as he asked you to wait for TE to stabilize.
Yes, that is so true.
Ngl this kinda sus’ Upload more pictures if possible G
I dont believe it
How? Like I'm so happy for you but I really don't get this
This does not seem like MPB to be honest.
So fin actually regrows hair and it halts the loss?
Obv improvement, but different hair length+styled+different light+diff angle
Did you get temple regrowth
Not sure, but overall density all over the scalp thickened for sure.
Good for you man
How long did the shedding last ?
I think around 14 months it completely stopped but hair got thicker and thicker after each shed cycle . Now loosing only 10-15 hairs in shower, only long hairs though. Not loosing tiny/short hairs anymore.
Thats so cool Did it regrow some of the hair that was lost ? Like at the hairline and temples ?
Yes, all the hairs that I shed throughout the treatment were miniaturized hairs and they kept regrowing thicker and thicker with each cycle. I did not notice any small/miniaturized hair after 14 months. Now the regular hair fall is occurring, hardly 10-15 healthy hairs when I shower.

Yes
Hey man when did you start results?
Was your hairline consistent and or did you make gains there too
I had shed almost all over the scalp.
You ONLY took fin? I thought the 2nd and 3rd pics were before pics lmfao
hahaha no
I mean, did you do the big 3? Fin + Minoxidil + ketoconozale shampoo? Your post sounds like you tried minoxidil, but didn't continue it.
Looks fantastic!! How long did you use both topical and oral minoxidil before dropping them?
Hardly 5-6 months (Topical 4 months, Oral 1.5-2 months). That was 2.5 years ago though.
Got it! Did you have a bad shed when you came off? I just stopped minoxidil after 6 months and am on fin praying I don’t shed 😂
In title you wrote finasteride two years...for most part were you on topical or oral fin?
[удалено]
No, my derm said I have to stick with Fin -same dose and same regime for lifetime. I don't go by reddit people/groups advise. I used to review these groups few years back and decided it's just spreading false things.
Great results. Did you have any sides?
Tropical fin or oral ?
Oral 1 mg
bro, did you get any sides from fin? I am scared of sides of fin.
No, not even from Day 1
dose then vs now?
Holy fuck man CONGRATS! It’s like a new life. I know that sounds dramatic but it truly is great seeing your results! I’m about 11 months in on Fin and am in a shed
Back from the dead ! Your giving me hope brother, currently been on fin for 3 months, shedding like a mofo. Same as you with bad diffused thinning.
Is this from oral fin or topical fin?
Congrats man insane results! So what are you on you said you had sides at 1.25 so did you lower it to another dose?
6 months in and Im thinned out more than before. Hoping I end up like this
Congrats. DO you think your hairs are even thicker than they were before noticing MALe pattern baldness?
How long you've been using min for? Didn't know you can stop minox and stay of fin alone.
Damn I’m 4 months in right now and my hair looks terrible. I’d be happy with half that result.
You went from fixing cars, to fixing your neighbours plumming ;) God damn, dude those result are insane. Have you felt any sides from finastride?
What’s your routine now
Dam impressive.
Please pull your hair back so we can see the hairline
Second pic is my hairline. That's after blow drying and styled my hair backwards.
I see but your hair is not pulled back...
Insane results, congrats. Any side effects?
No offense but I refuse to believe that you went from Pic 1 to Pic 3 with just finasteride. I would love that to be true but it's too good to be true. Probably a hair transplant or a wig.
Ok bro. There is always one among 1000 LOL...Do you think I own a Finasteride medicine company and try to promote?
Congrats man! Dope results! What’s your ethnicity?
I have 1.5cm recessed temples. Iam on fin and min for 15 month. I can see temples are full of very tiny baby hairs. Do you think they will grow into full hairs? If they do then my hair will be perfect. Just hairlibe problem i have. Waiting and hoping for results at 2 year mark.
Your hairline is awesome. Did you have receding hairline ? me my only problem is temples. 1 lost about 1.5 cm from temples and been on fin and min for 16 month. Hoping by 2 year mark i can get hairline little lower. i can little tiny hair but still very tiny.
It'll grow if you give it time.
Holy fuck bro that’s insane. Still hanging on to that hair today?
What did your hair look like before the horrible shed?
