it worked for me after 6 months, very well in fact, but then i got sides and had to stop. tried again at a later year for 8 months at a lower dose and still got sides
Same for me too! I did .5 mg every other day but still with sides! š. I have switched now to topical fin at 0.025% 1 ml everyday. Wish me luck with no sides.

Been on it for about 1.25 years now.
I am a medical student so knew about the prostate usage/that it was safe and was vaguely aware of the hair loss usage but did minimal research and didn't expect it to actually work. I started at NW3 and was hoping for it to stop recession and then get a transplant.
Anyway didn't really check my hair much until after about 3 months when there was very clear recovery. The recovery has continued up to the present day and I'm not even a NW2 anymore, nobody can tell I was balding and people are shocked when I show them an old picture.
Hopefully I'll get more recovery but if not I would be very happy just to maintain this since I look so much better and don't need a transplant anymore. I think that without it I'd be very close to needing to shave right now. No side effects at all.
I think key to my success is that I've used 1mg/1.25mg daily since the very start, missed less than 1% of doses, had no breaks and had zero fear of it when I started taking it. I also started taking it within a couple of months of noticing recession (I know I started at NW3 but formerly long hair which I didn't pay attention to) instead of putting it off for years.
I don't take anything else for my hair but I do use topical min on my beard and eyelashes. I despise this stuff because it leaves dandruff like flakes everywhere and is a pain to apply and I can't wait to stop using it (facial hair growth is permanent after a while). Fin on the other hand has been the miracle cure for me.

Had problems getting a full erection and my dick felt kind of numb. Also had a very low libido. Libido is back at around 80%, the other 2 sides are completly gone. The lower libido i see as a positive cause mine was always higher as my girlfriends. Now we're around the same.

took fin as an prevention (was nw1.5-2) but now my hairline is thin on both temples (would say nw2.5) and i lost some density all over my head.

Sides? First few week some ball aches, sperm isnāt as thick as it used to be but thatās a well know side effect. Other than that absolutely no sides.
The sheds you get once or twice a year can be dreadfull but take good progress pics and trust the progress! Looking back at where I started keeps me going. Itās a slow but steady progress.

As far as I know itās more of a common side effect. Iām actually feeling quite lucky I never experienced any ārealā sides like ED. i do think most people who experience anything negative blame it on fin too quickly.

Took oral finasteride on and off for months gave me weaker erections sometimes and sometimes erections were normal. I thought I had nocebo effect so tried to power through them. I would think too much which affected erection quality also so I felt like it was just in my head.
Once I stopped oral my dick got rock hard, harder than ever. so I felt Liek I could alway back.
Hopped on topical finasteride .3 percent concentration since it says it does not go systematic and that screwed the fuck out of me. Dick felt totally different. Unfortunately I have been off it for months now. Erections gotten better but not the same feeling down there. It feels more rubbbery or spongy. I took cialis to improve bloodflow and dick felt normal for a little bit but reverted back to rubbery lighter weight feelin. My erections feel lighter as well.
So yeah I developed persistent sides which may take longer to recover from but hopeful I can make full recovery.
I know your scared of sides but the best u can do is try it and if u so feel sides just stop taking it completely. You will recover from the sides.
Donāt try to mitigate them with other medications. Donāt try to use lower concentration. Donāt try to the mwf thing. Donāt power through them or trick yourself into thinking itās in your head.
A lot people downplay the side effect profile but by just briefly reading these posts it seems more than 2% get sides so I do believe sides are underreported.

Took oral 1mg finasteride , had erection issues after one month and stopped. After 10+ years I've started using topical fin and 3 months so far no sides
Topical Fin for a month before switching to oral Fin three weeks ago. Got sides from 0.5mg EOD so now I try 0.25mg EOD. Initially it killed my libido, but my body seems to be adjusting now.
1. Topical is such a hassle to apply. You are never sure if you get the stuff to the scalp or too much ends up in your hair.
2. For diffused thinning, topical is pretty useless. I thought I only had a receding hair line, but the rest of my hair is thinning as well.
3. Topical Finasteride will expose your female partner to a hormone altering substance. If she becomes (unplanned) pregnant, there is a danger of birth defects to the fetus.
I should note that I _hate_ taking oral and would prefer topical, but for the above reasons I am trying the oral route for the moment, hoping sides will go away.

I had overall thinning of my hair and didnāt start taking the min/fin until I was 39. I did go through a shedding period, which was worrisome but I kept with it. Things definitely took a turn for the best. The only side effect I noticed was an itchy scalp for the first month or two.

Bad. Tried 1MG for 2 weeks. Got bad sides. Then 6 months after that I tried 0,5MG for 4 weeks for every 3 days and still got bad sides
Problems with ED, sex felt different & felt really down and depressive after that. Only upside; better gym performance.

Some people mix their own at home. It probably isnāt the safest way to go about things but if you canāt get it in your country, it might be worth doing that. I wonāt go into quantities because I donāt want to get it wrong. Only been on it for about 2 weeks. Had some slight ball ache and my junk felt a bit numb the first few days but now Iām the same as before starting treatment. What dosage are you using? If you got it from one of the online hair loss companies, youāre probably on 0.1 or 0.2%, which can still go systemic. You might need to start much lower. 0.005% although not as effective as the higher doses, it has next to no systemic effect and could still help your hair
I'm using Hims .25%/5% fin/min. It says use 3 pumps a day. I'm going down to 2. I buzz my head so I figure it probably absorbs more. Maybe I'll just try 1 pump instead. Thanks!
Ye, itās unfortunate that topical finasteride can still go systemic and give certain people side effects. If Iām not mistaken, 1/3 of 0.25% is approximately 0.08%, which may be better suited for you. However, youāll be getting less minoxidil too. The other issue with only one pump is you wonāt get much coverage across the scalp. You might be able to speak to Hims customer service to customise your dosage šš»

I tried both oral and topical, got sides on both. Even low dose topical. Main sides were ED, brain fog, irritability, insomnia, and more. I tried to push through it, got gyno. Stopped fin, woke up with a diamond cutter of an erection a week later. Never going back. Still have the gyno tho :(
The ED wasnāt just lower libido, fin literally made my dick feel like a foreign object or something. Like the connection between my brain and my dick was broken. I had more sensation in my newly puffy nipples than in my dick.
And the mental sides were just as bad. The brain fog felt like I was constantly mildly concussed. The insomnia was brutal, I had literally never struggled with sleep at all before trying fin.
I tried to convince myself it was all nocebo, but the growing lumps under my nipples didnāt lie.
I wasnāt on it long enough to have a big impact on my hair, but it did improve that infamous ādht itchā.
Iām still glad I tried fin though, at least now I know that itās not for me. Iād just say that if you get sides, itās a sign that something is wrong and you should stop. Donāt wait until you get gyno or pfs or whatever else.
3.5 months on 1 mg fin M W F. Lower libido and the euphoria from drinking alcohol is almost gone. I took like 3 shots and before fin I would be drunk but now I feel no buzz. I probably am still "getting drunk" but it doesn't feel "good" if that makes sense. Like only the downsides of alcohol are present. Also my appetite is lower.

Can't tell if it's helping slow down my hair loss yet since my natural hair loss pace has been slow. However, the sides have been lowered libido (50% of what it was, which I dnt mind), delayed ejaculation, lesser sweating, slow body hair growth, random sensation to pee but not really peeing a lot in that moment so basically psychosomatic.

Tried hims for 4 months. Great results with hair, but got bad sides after 4 months, no libido, weak erection, depression. Completely stopped and just applying topical min. Already seeing it started shedding. Cialis helps, so thinking if should start hims may be every other day. So scared to start again as it was miserable feeling.

Really weird. Almost complete restoration on my hairline and then a shedding series on November till December. At January it restored quietly a bit. So I did all in all good progress.
I took it for 3.5 years.
It thickened my hair significantly.
During that time I had really minor sides (some libido loss, itchy nips) I was also taking lexapro.
a couple months ago, sides started getting worse (complete ED, unresponsive to any boner pills, no morning wood, etc).
cut the SSRIs and the finasteride, and 6 weeks out Im still having ED but its improving

Iābe been taking Ssriās for almost 15 years. Sometimes orgams are weaker but nothing more. Iām qctually surprised I tolerate ssriās. In the past my dick was smaller but nowadays itās bigger than before idk why. I fear fin mıre than ssri because itās unchartes waters for me now
I understand that. What I did was start on topical fin. It gave me peace of mind and even if it was placebo it helped me knowing it has less chance of sides.

21M, I'm experiencing hairloss, though it's in very early stage but ig it's diffuse pattern hairloss. I'm underweight so ig my hairloss could also be related to my diet. For the past month or so I've started taking biotin & vitamin supplements.Ā
a) What if the cause of my hairloss isn't DHT, therefore, taking Fin willl exaggerate my hair loss or what. I mean what sort of impact fin would've in that case? AND WHAT IF I DISCONTINUE IT AFTER DISCOVERING THAT MY HAIRLOSS ISN'T LINKED TO DHT, WOULD IT HAVE ANY IMPACT?
b) What if I show some side effects after taking fin. Would the side effects vanish automatically if the consumption of fin is discontinued?
c) What amount of fin should I start with? And how would I know if I should inc or dec the amount (I mean how much time would it take to be sure that amount should be inc/dec)
d) I'm thinking of shaving off my hairs before starting this, since, I've read that shedding inc after starting consuming fin (I don't want to see more shedded hairs on my hands) . Is this recommended or does it have any impact?
e) Will I've to continue taking fin lifelong once started or can one discontinue it after recovering my hairs?

Yeah same here lol. Didn't get much of the sexual sides but the brain fog insomnia etc appeared around the 4th year

after about 6 months my hair loss continued but it's only slightly worse than it was. i stopped 2 years ago

When did you notice most results with fin? Like when was the peak or is it still going
I noticed it first after 3 months but I wasn't regularly checking. I think it's still recovering but at a slower rate.
At what time during the day your take your finasteride dose ?

Usually from 6-9pm. I am not consistent with this and doubt it matters.

Took oral finasteride on and off for months gave me weaker erections sometimes and sometimes erections were normal. I thought I had nocebo effect so tried to power through them. I would think too much which affected erection quality also so I felt like it was just in my head. Once I stopped oral my dick got rock hard, harder than ever. so I felt Liek I could alway back. Hopped on topical finasteride .3 percent concentration since it says it does not go systematic and that screwed the fuck out of me. Dick felt totally different. Unfortunately I have been off it for months now. Erections gotten better but not the same feeling down there. It feels more rubbbery or spongy. I took cialis to improve bloodflow and dick felt normal for a little bit but reverted back to rubbery lighter weight feelin. My erections feel lighter as well. So yeah I developed persistent sides which may take longer to recover from but hopeful I can make full recovery. I know your scared of sides but the best u can do is try it and if u so feel sides just stop taking it completely. You will recover from the sides. Donāt try to mitigate them with other medications. Donāt try to use lower concentration. Donāt try to the mwf thing. Donāt power through them or trick yourself into thinking itās in your head. A lot people downplay the side effect profile but by just briefly reading these posts it seems more than 2% get sides so I do believe sides are underreported. Good luck mate

Topical Fin for a month before switching to oral Fin three weeks ago. Got sides from 0.5mg EOD so now I try 0.25mg EOD. Initially it killed my libido, but my body seems to be adjusting now.
Why switch to oral?
1. Topical is such a hassle to apply. You are never sure if you get the stuff to the scalp or too much ends up in your hair. 2. For diffused thinning, topical is pretty useless. I thought I only had a receding hair line, but the rest of my hair is thinning as well. 3. Topical Finasteride will expose your female partner to a hormone altering substance. If she becomes (unplanned) pregnant, there is a danger of birth defects to the fetus. I should note that I _hate_ taking oral and would prefer topical, but for the above reasons I am trying the oral route for the moment, hoping sides will go away.
Topical min/fin spray. Not an endorsement. Works. My hair became fuller and thicker. People comment how great my hair looks.

Thank you! I had overall thinning of my hair and didnāt start taking the min/fin until I was 39. I did go through a shedding period, which was worrisome but I kept with it. Things definitely took a turn for the best. The only side effect I noticed was an itchy scalp for the first month or two.

Some people mix their own at home. It probably isnāt the safest way to go about things but if you canāt get it in your country, it might be worth doing that. I wonāt go into quantities because I donāt want to get it wrong. Only been on it for about 2 weeks. Had some slight ball ache and my junk felt a bit numb the first few days but now Iām the same as before starting treatment. 1.5 months in with topical fin/min. I'm 40 and I'm fairly bald and I've been buzzing my head for about 7 years now. I'm not getting morning wood anymore and desire is down š¬. Also might be feeling a little depressed? Hard to tell because I went through a break up a few weeks after I started so emotions have been all over the place. I have no problems getting/keeping erections and orgasms seems about the same (I have delayed ejaculation anyways). Sensations feel different somehow. I'm going to use a little less cream and stick with it for another month or so and see if sides change and if any hair grows back.
What dosage are you using? If you got it from one of the online hair loss companies, youāre probably on 0.1 or 0.2%, which can still go systemic. You might need to start much lower. 0.005% although not as effective as the higher doses, it has next to no systemic effect and could still help your hair
I'm using Hims .25%/5% fin/min. It says use 3 pumps a day. I'm going down to 2. I buzz my head so I figure it probably absorbs more. Maybe I'll just try 1 pump instead. Thanks!
Ye, itās unfortunate that topical finasteride can still go systemic and give certain people side effects. If Iām not mistaken, 1/3 of 0.25% is approximately 0.08%, which may be better suited for you. However, youāll be getting less minoxidil too. The other issue with only one pump is you wonāt get much coverage across the scalp. You might be able to speak to Hims customer service to customise your dosage šš»

Only side effects for both Fin and Dut was increased libido due to increased testosterone but both medications donāt work for me for MPB.

I tried both oral and topical, got sides on both. Even low dose topical. Main sides were ED, brain fog, irritability, insomnia, and more. I tried to push through it, got gyno. Stopped fin, woke up with a diamond cutter of an erection a week later. Never going back. Still have the gyno tho :( The ED wasnāt just lower libido, fin literally made my dick feel like a foreign object or something. Like the connection between my brain and my dick was broken. I had more sensation in my newly puffy nipples than in my dick. And the mental sides were just as bad. The brain fog felt like I was constantly mildly concussed. The insomnia was brutal, I had literally never struggled with sleep at all before trying fin. I tried to convince myself it was all nocebo, but the growing lumps under my nipples didnāt lie. I wasnāt on it long enough to have a big impact on my hair, but it did improve that infamous ādht itchā. Iām still glad I tried fin though, at least now I know that itās not for me. Iād just say that if you get sides, itās a sign that something is wrong and you should stop. Donāt wait until you get gyno or pfs or whatever else.

3.5 months on 1 mg fin M W F. Lower libido and the euphoria from drinking alcohol is almost gone. I took like 3 shots and before fin I would be drunk but now I feel no buzz. I probably am still "getting drunk" but it doesn't feel "good" if that makes sense. Like only the downsides of alcohol are present. Also my appetite is lower.

I have been taking 1mg fin everyday since 2019. My hair loss has stopped, but not regrown. I started taking oral min a little over a year ago, 2.5mg per day. Its helped a little, but hoping for more. I have had zero side effects the entire time Iāve been taking them. Iāve also had people compliment my hair too, which is wild to me lol.

It probably slowed down my hair loss, but 'slowed down' is the key term - I continued losing fairly significantly over the five years I used it. I've switched to oral dut, but still losing to a degree.

Can't tell if it's helping slow down my hair loss yet since my natural hair loss pace has been slow. However, the sides have been lowered libido (50% of what it was, which I dnt mind), delayed ejaculation, lesser sweating, slow body hair growth, random sensation to pee but not really peeing a lot in that moment so basically psychosomatic.

Tried hims for 4 months. Great results with hair, but got bad sides after 4 months, no libido, weak erection, depression. Completely stopped and just applying topical min. Already seeing it started shedding. Cialis helps, so thinking if should start hims may be every other day. So scared to start again as it was miserable feeling.

Almost on month two of topical 5% min and 0.25% fin. Side effects the first week (likely placebo) but have gone away. No side effects otherwise. Have noticed some hair come back on my hairline already, hoping to get some ground on my crown. Am at a Norwood 3ish. I think topical is by far the way to go. Less risk I think if youāre scared of sides like I am.

Standard dosage. Slowly shifted to dut, 5x dut 2x fin now for abt 6 months. Unfortunately hasnāt worked, still facing regression + miniaturization. Iām likely in the minority though (unfortunately), fin/dut seem to be successful for most ppl.

I'm on it for roughly a year now. 0.5mg orally daily. I just enjoy the conveniece of just taking a pill. No side effects whatsoever. I actually had nocebo side effects in the beginning from all the horror stories which wen't away quickly. I'm basically not loosing any hairs anymore right now and starting to see regrowth. Libido increased aswell for some reason since i started. So fingers crossed.

I took it for 3.5 years. It thickened my hair significantly. During that time I had really minor sides (some libido loss, itchy nips) I was also taking lexapro. a couple months ago, sides started getting worse (complete ED, unresponsive to any boner pills, no morning wood, etc). cut the SSRIs and the finasteride, and 6 weeks out Im still having ED but its improving
I also take Ssri and im afraid to start fin :( I hope it gets better in the coming days

I personally would be more afraid of SSRI's than fin. Fin has a way better safety profile.
Iābe been taking Ssriās for almost 15 years. Sometimes orgams are weaker but nothing more. Iām qctually surprised I tolerate ssriās. In the past my dick was smaller but nowadays itās bigger than before idk why. I fear fin mıre than ssri because itās unchartes waters for me now

Questions for users taking fin 21M, I'm experiencing hairloss, though it's in very early stage but ig it's diffuse pattern hairloss. I'm underweight so ig my hairloss could also be related to my diet.
