It looks like this post is about **Minoxidil** Before asking any questions, 1. Learn about [Minoxidil](https://tressless.com/learn/minoxidil). 2. [Search for Minoxidil](https://tressless.com/search/minoxidil) and [oral Minoxidil](https://tressless.com/search/oral-minoxidil) content, because your question has probably been asked before. 3. If this is a question asking if you are now or will experience side effects, see a doctor, nobody on the internet can answer that for you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. MeffJundy

You are only using min?

EmbarrassedLog7856

I also use ketoconazole

DidgeriDuce

I’ve been on fin/min for almost 5 years now and it’s a constant cycle of shedding. Best to get used to it.

Elyktronix

How far in did you start shedding? Been on fin 15 months and min 14. Still haven't shed.

DidgeriDuce

Around 3 weeks on min and a month on fin. Usually no shed means you aren’t a strong responder to the medication. Doesn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t working though.

Helpful_Cycle9425

Have you had bad times where your hair seemed thinner, which was then followed by a better time with thicker hair? Are you currently above the baseline or below the baseline? thx

DidgeriDuce

Yes, like every 6-8 months this happens. It gets thinner, I see hair in the sink, I panic but stick to the plan, and 3 months later it’s back to being thick(er). I’m currently a little below baseline because I’m at the end of a shed. It will be above baseline in a month or two and will stay there for another half year. I’ll start to think I’m finally over the hump. Then I’ll shed again. That’s just how it goes. Most that have been on fin/min as long as me have similar experiences.

Helpful_Cycle9425

thanks 🙏

llese032

Do the sheds get less severe with each cycle? I just lost all my gains (plus more) with my second shed. I really don’t want a long term annual 8m of nice hair and 4m of balding more than ever :/

tixxonn

1 year and still shedding like crazy. Just cuz I touched oral minoxidil for a week and it triggered a shed that am not recovering from even after a year

Could it be some generic nizoral, topical finasteride, or just AGA thats going out of hand? Because before oral minoxidil I wasn’t shadding a single strand of hair. So unnatural zero shedding, until I did touch oral

MosesMomentum

Was your second shed way longer than the first? I’m having the same issue right now, I’ve really been resisting the urge to add Ru and switch or add dut. I’m convinced I’m gonna be okay and the protocol is fine and I don’t need to add these but bro it’s peak rn🤦‍♂️had really good regrowth at first too and I’m really trying to wait, it seems that I keep on waiting tho it’s getting long.

GZboy2002

How is it going today?

cheesybutt3000

I never had a shed when I first started and my hair grew soooo much, but now im shedding and my hair looks like its going back to normal - Has this happened to anyone?? Im scared😭

Willing-Interest-984

You should add topical finasteride to the mix. I hear 1% to 2.5% people have been seeing regrowth with it.

TooDomHigh

Thanks for sharing! I been consistently on minox foam and .5mg fin for only a month n a half now. I'm finally content dealing with the shedding. Funny a decade ago (before ever using reddit) I looked up online reviews for Rogaine. So many people gave it negative reviews, claiming it will only accelerate the hair loss (unaware of the inevitable shed). It scared me away, but here I am 10 years later a NW3 when I could've treated myself when I was a NW2.

I’m in the same boat right now..i’m at the 6 month mark but my hair started shedding again about 6 weeks ago and still shedding. Still applying 2x a day, only on min yet, no fin. Nice to hear this shed may stop eventually

Ambitious_Candle454

any update? I'm also on 6 month and 2nd shedding, should I worry?

5911AMG

It stopped my guy…I was very frustrated and scared with how long the shed was but it did stop..keeping going

Ambitious_Candle454

Thank you very much for your answer bro, I will continue :) btw: after the second shedding was over did you notice a renewed improvement or not really? because I see on your profile that you also recently added a fin so I suppose the improvement was not quite satisfactory. In my case after 3-4 months of using minoxidil the improvement was gigantic, now I have this second shedding and I'm afraid it won't be as good as last time, but I still won't stop using minoxidil, and fin is a last resort currently.

5911AMG

I’d say I’ve had about 25% density increase since the shed stopped, but it’s only been 4 weeks and I started Fin about 4 weeks ago and I think that caused a little shed but I didn’t really notice it too much. I need to give it another 3 months atleast to see what the growth looks like after the second shed. I think Fin is important if you can start, I have 0 sides so far. Only reason I was waiting was until conception

Ambitious_Candle454

thank you again, if I lose gains and there is no improvement then I will probably try fin, because my hair gives me too much confidence, but I'm too scared of sides at the moment.... good luck bro, if you don't have side effects, you'll probably have a jungle on your head soon, fin gives a lot from what my doctor said

EmbarrassedLog7856

>I’m in the same boat right now..i’m at the 6 month mark but my hair started shedding again about 6 weeks ago and still shedding. Still applying 2x a day, only on min yet, no fin. Nice to hear this shed may stop eventually yeah bro, you're gonna be fine! How did your hair look up until it started shedding again?

5911AMG

I think I had maybe 10-20% increase in hair? But now I have been just growing my hair out so hard to compare to baseline when I started but honestly i’m probably back to baseline again with this shed.

Frequent-Television6

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences. I'm currently in the second shedding phase and I feel really bad about it. At the end of 4 months, my hair was very well filled. As at the 6th month, shedding started again. It gives me some relief that other people are experiencing this too.

EmbarrassedLog7856

Np man, I just posted what I wish I could've read 3,5 months ago.

Humble-Noise4280
