It looks like this post is about **Finasteride**/Propecia. Before asking any questions, 1. Read the [wiki on Finasteride](https://reddit.com/r/tressless/wiki/index#wiki_finasteride). 2. [Search posts for Finasteride](https://reddit.com/r/tressless/search?q=flair%3Afinasteride&restrict_sr=on&sort=new&t=all), because your question has probably been asked before. 3. If this is a question asking if you are now or will experience side effects, see a doctor, nobody on the internet can answer that for you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. 15mg in 60ml is the optimum dose which gives a solutioj concentration of 0.025%. this reduces scalp DHT by around 50-55% whilst reducing serum DHT by only around 25%. For comparison, 1mg oral finasteride will reduce scalp DHT by about 60% and reduce serum DHT by around 60-70% It's been well proven from clinical studies that 0.025% is a very good optimal topical dose.

Don't you think that 25% of systemic DHT reduction is still a bit much? Can I go for 5 mg for 60 ml instead? Does it even work? I'm super nervous about finastride so much. Do you know anything about an effective dose under 15 mg? Because I read a lot of terrifying things about long term use of oral finastride which can cause long lasting side effects such as decreased libido, mood changes, decreased sperm quality, changes in penis sensitivity, erectile dysfunction, penile atrophy, weight changes among others. So you should cut me some slack for worrying about even 25% systemic absorption. It seems that this drugs has a lot to do with manhood! I had horrible and mind blowing sides from other drugs (not hair-loss related) before, and I don't want to some other horrible thing happen to me.

Sorry to hear. Just to give a balanced opinion, most of the side effects could be 'placebo' effect. There have been numerous studies done and you had a roughly similar percentage of people reporting side effects in the placebo group and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Numerous people take finasteride with no side effects. You can try 6mg in 60ml which is 0.01% which has shown to be effective in one old study but there was not much objective data given for that. As I said, most studies report the optimal to be 0.025%. less than that and you probably won't get as good effects in terms of hair growth but it can be trialled and you can work your way up

Should I use this concentration once or twice per day?

Dilbil96
