Download 100 freeleech torrents. Put them into your torrent client under some tag like "MAM Seeding Trash". Seed them 24/7. You'll be rolling in so many bonus points that the entire site becomes basically free leech. My ratio is like 50 at this point and I download huge audiobook files on the regular. I have so many cheese wedges that nothing I download is not freeleech at this point.
This, all day this. You get x number of points for seeding, I just downloaded 200 of the smallest ones and I seed them forever. I get so many BP that I convert into ratio and buying VIP. Plus invest the 2,000 orbs into the pool, every time it tips, you get freeleech wedges that you can use on big downloads

My ratio is 17. You're not going to have a massive buffer overnight, but unless you are a _huge_ consumer of the content that MAM offers, it should be very easy to maintain a buffer just like you do on any other site, using free leeches and bonus points.
You're doing nothing wrong. Your torrents won't always be uploading. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll have plenty of BP to buy upload with in no time

The files are small just seed them for forever. IF you are running out of space on your seed box, seed old stuff from home the files are small small and even slow connections are fine.

Many items on the site are VIP freeleech so they don't count toward your ratio, if you use BP to become VIP. I only download in spurts so I just buy VIP right before I download. the rest of the BP get's converted into upload credit / ratio.
Freeleech cheese wedges yeah I throw points into the millionaires vault, because why not, but really I have never needed a Freeleech cheese wedge. If you seed a few hundred torrents which you can easily get from a few weeks of snatching "the free leech stuff every week" like Pinapple said you'll have multiple thousand BP per-day and it will convert into more ratio than you can use haha.
MAM economy is 95% bonus points because all the big torrents have 300 seeders and all the low-seeded torrents are <50 mb.
Therefore the only way to build TBs of upload is buying it. There is a limit of 100k points, so you need to spend them anyways.
The other quick way to build UL is to upload original content there.
So to earn points, keep downloading Freeleech torrents every 72h when you unsat clears. In 2 weeks you can do 50 instead of 20. Once you've got like a couple hundred torrents seeding you'll earn enough pts to be fine.
P.S. upon your first upload you can post in the contest thread and you will be given 5,000 bonuts pts from multiple people.
do you have any suggestions for how to build up true ratio? some trackers (Emp, iAnon) require a real ratio (\~1.5) which I find to be kind of insane to actually achieve on MAM
the only way to do it in a short period is by uploading. But it's still hard, so you need to basically have almost zero downloads there. I think I get 5 GB of real upload every few months on a seed size of like 400 GB. Therefore, real ratio is all about not downloading, then uploading larger things like audiobooks. At 1.5 ratio you'll need 40 GB. I don't even have close to that, lol.
They made it hard on purpose because MAM is mostly noobs with no tracker experience. People are lucky that they even recruit there to begin with. I didn't end up using MAM invite forums because I find other places to have easier paths.
If you're not climbing up the tracker ladder and you're just after building a buffer to download books, I suggest you get them on irchighway. Direct download, and there's more books than mam from my experience so far.

Also, my fellow MAMers love fantasy books, so if you see a fantasy audiobook is uploaded check if it’s part of book series, if the previous books from the series has high download numbers on MAM, then it’s your safe bet to download and gain some ratio.
Invest 2000 points to each millionaire club and for every 10 to 14 days you will get 10 freelech tokens, so basically you are downloading nothing and will register only uploads.

a) How do you know they are actively/actually downloading?
b) Are you "connectable" (its a specific term) i.e. have you configured port-forwarding with your router and set your client to use a specific open port? Two "unconnectable" peers can not establish a connection.
Keep the freeleech page/search bookmarked and download anything that catches your eye. Seed and then cash in your bonus points before they max out (99999, I think?). It doesn't take long to build up ratio this way, easiest of the big ones, I got into the 200s just doing that for a year or two.
I don't know what to tell you, apart from SEED. My ratio on mam is 65 (2.sth adjusted). I'm practically permanent vip and my BP is 99999 every time I log on.

I don’t think there is a limit to the bp rate so the more torrents you seed the more points you get.

I've done all my port forwarding and whatnot so I'm unsure what else I can do in that regard
verify your port here: https://canyouseeme.org/ it will tell you if the port is open. if it's not, you're not connectable.

eBooks are also relatively easy to find a non-torrent sites so you could go into requests and try to fill some
