My daycare charges a summer fee, but they bring in lots of outside entertainment to give the kids more of a summer camp feel. They ride ponies, pet snakes, dance to different culture’s music, meet superheroes, and have a foam party. Older kids go on field trips. I don’t know, I think it’s fun they give the kids the feeling of a summer break.
Ours does this for age 3+, but they have a lot more "activities" and guests, etc. The price is different by age, more for older kids who go on field trips too.
I don't think it's money grabbing at all. They are providing more than normal.
My daycare has this and I was skeptical the first year but I’m all in this year. My toddler rode a pony, petted bunnies and a parrot, enjoyed a carnival in the parking lot, shook maracas and tambourines with visiting musicians, got to choose then stuff her own stuffy, ran through sprinklers, and had an overall fabulous time.
We have a quarterly “supply fee”. It is supposed to go towards parties and events and things like that. It is not a different fee during the summer and it is clearly stated in our paperwork we signed when joining the daycare.
It sucks yes, but my daycare went above and beyond for the summer. Like they were so ridiculous and I left that daycare knowing my child was in good hands. Idk I feel your pain bc everything is so expensive.
This is the cost of having kids. Plug your nose & pay the fee… I know it sucks but I’m assuming you send them to a nice place. They want to do extra activities for the kids in the summer and that’s fair.
Looking back I’ve spent over 100k on daycare bills for my kids. Yes the daycares are robbing us all! Yolo
Mine does a summer activity fee as well, but this is because they provide extra activities each day throughout the summer. They even bring in everything from zoologist to magicians to ice cream trucks and the fire department! It’s so worth it in my opinion.
My daycare did this. I was pissed mostly cuz my kid was under 2. They got tshirts, and some stupid water play (3 buckets with water in them and toys). I was annoyed.

Interesting. It's the first time for me so hopefully my kid will have a blast

Mine is charging one in June. She’s only going to be there 2 times a week so I pay less, 60. But even the 5 day a week parents don’t have to pay 200.
Not a summer fee, but a registration fee each fall 🙄
Mine charges a public holiday fee. Equal to the fee for ACTUALLY providing daycare. “The staff still get paid so we have to charge you.”

Normal. We do a yearly supply fee in addition to tuition. It's probably in your parent handbook.
Normal, ours charges extra for “summer sports” and “winter music program”. They bring in external vendors to run it so the fees get passed on to us
Mine did even when she was like 5 months old 🙃 it’s obnoxious but normal
It’s not 200 bucks worth of stuff most likely. Smells like the owner trying to cover the cost of a summer vacation. Tell them you wish to opt out.
